Just finished BB's Level 3 yoga. I know I talked about doing it for days, but just really did it today!:eek:
Here is my week:
M-run, CS
T-ME, SM
W-DM scrambled cardio,BB's yoga if time
Th-PUB/PLB combo premix
F-run,CS
S-run/walk

I'm probably going to Houston again next weekend.

Deanie~I'm just thinking about thinking about the kb.:) There are many "toys" that I would like to have, but well, you know with the economy, things may have to wait.:( I'll have to take a peek at the new clip.

If you get a kb, and do the tutorial and the AOS video tutorial, you should be covered. the website also has a youtube video for one of the routines, so if you don't know a move, you can learn it. You can use the workouts posted in your home and not have to buy a dvd right away. I think I am going to try one on fri. if I don't have my dvd yet.

No Time for Down Time Monday

Good Morning

Today was PUB- no abs and adding a 6rep instead of going back down the pyramid to 10 reps. I liked it!:) I started with the same weights as Cathe, and for the 6 reps went up. For triceps, I started with 5's not 3's.

A very busy day for me....go to work early (have to do some work before class starts), work till 2, take DS8 to ortho. for his retainer:) (an hour visit) then DS12 to meet his barmitzvah tutor! he won't start tutoring till Jan/Feb, but she is in demand, and I wanted to get on the list for her. She is good with kids with ADD and learning issues.

Today was my usual 3 mile run. And hope to do Class. Stretch this afternoon.

Deanie~Enjoy your busy day! Good job on the PUB! When will ds's bar mitzvah be? When I mentioned to my DH that I might like to try kb, he just rolled his eyes. I know he was thinking,"Don't you have enough stuff?":) If he only knew all that I would still like to have!:eek:

Marcy~How was your weekend? I looked at my NetFlix queue and it is Tracey's Circuit Zone that I have. I am just curious....when you post the details of your workout, do you have an incredible memory or are you copying it from somewhere else?

Hi Ladies!

I did Patrick Goudeau's Step Appeal this morning (another virgin off my list). I liked it. Patrick is his usual self. It's complex but not as complex as his others. I did pretty well with it for the first time through. I should have probably done a circuit or upper or lower today but I just felt like doing cardio this morning.

I saw the clip and it still seems to me like a lot of the same old stuff. Also, the double wave loading sounds like another term for pyramiding (which, as you know, I'm not a big fan of). I know we've actually only seen a few out clips out of the 41 workouts and I hope there is some new stuff on the other DVDs. I really did like what I saw of the pics and descriptions from Ab Circuits and the bonus legs and plyo legs DVDs but other than that, I don't know that this series is really for me.

Deanie - I saw that you posted a second article. Haven't read it yet but printed it out. Do you think it's okay to do circuits 5 days a week? Even with the lower weights, I still think you need a rest day in between. I hope the tutor works out well for your DS.

The article made me feel better because I hate pretty much all the machines mentioned (and the treadmill and elliptical) - I guess that's part of the reason why I don't go to a gym. Although I did enjoy the group classes when I went to the gym this summer. But I have way better step workouts than what they did in class.

Gin - I do have an excellent memory, but I actually take notes during the workout. Circuit Zone has gotten some mixed reviews so I was almost ready to trade it away without even taking the packaging off. I'm glad I didn't. There's a couple of comments she makes towards the end of the workout which people thought were totally inappropriate and could have been edited out. I have to say Cathe's are probably the most well-produced on the market but they also cost the most.

I also think 15# would be a good place to start. There was a thread on Collage about when people started with KBs and how fast they moved up in weights. Some started with 10s and in about 3-4 weeks, moved up to 15#. Some started with 15# and in 4 weeks moved up to 20# and 25#.

Marcy~ I think circuits with the kb are very different than circuits with weights. They aren't isolating your muscles in the same way/at all. just a lot of swinging and "drill"/boot camp excersises done quickly. (that's my take at this point) I also think the double wave looks like the pyramid method, but I've always gotten nice results with that. Still not so impressed that I'm not thinking of cancelling. My DH says to get it, since its already paid for! FYI- in STS forum, Cathe explains the difference between double loading and pyramiding, but I still don't understand the difference:confused:

Deanie - I saw Cathe's explanation too but it still sounds like the same to me except that she said once you get to the heaviest you go back to the lightest weight whereas in her Pyramids, you go down to the moderate weight and then the lightest weight.

I didn't know you were talking about circuits with KBs - that's what made me question it.

Marcy~ I wasn't sure what you were referring to either with the circuits!!LOL :p:confused: I assumed the kb, because other wise, I agree, I wouldn't do 5 days in a row either, even with light weights.

I had/have a hard time understanding the difference too. Not sure I do....The way Cathe explained the double load, is the way I am doing the Pyramids now!:eek: going up in weight and down in reps and then back to light weight with high reps. The thing I like about PUB is using the dumbbells, I am going to try my vest and db's for PLB-- I get tired of lifting the bb over my head so many times!

The tutor seems nice, but she wanted to start now!! We are starting in Jan., she is very expensive:eek: :confused: :mad:I may have to pick up another enrichment.....

Gin~ DSs BarMitzvah is 10.24.09:) and everyone keeps telling me how fast its going to get here! Does your DH ever workout with you? maybe he could use some equipment and so the cost would be less;)

Deanie - I didn't know you had a weighted vest. What have you used it for? Do you like it? Is it Cathe's or did you get it somewhere else? Is it 10#

I have a 20# go fit vest. I got it a while ago...I had a gift card from Dicks. It is adjustable, so it can be less weight. I like it.:)

I used it the last time I did PS series.... it worked great!

Good Morning

Today was 4DS bc and abs. I ended up doing 4DS kb abs (the in and outs and the split legs 2X) and then side planks which I held for 60sec. each side then did the planks/pikes on the ball from PUB.

I am hoping my kb dvd will come today!

Today was ME and hopefully I can do SM#3 this aft. I think all of this headache med is making me tired. ME seemed tougher than usual, but I got through it.:(
I have a girl's birthday cocktail party to go to tonight. Guess I'll be drinking water.:D

My mother is doing a little better, thank you. she is still at the rehab hospital, but is determined to go home on Friday. She wants us to be ther for Thanksgiving, but I think the extra people in the house may be too much for her. So I was just going to go this Sat- Tues.

Marcy~I remember seeing Patrick G's step workouts on FitTV, but never did them.
Did you watch DWTS last night? I saw part of it. I think either Cody or Warren will go, depending on their popularity.

Good Morning Ladies!

Today was Patrick's Hard Work Conditioning (circuit workout). I really like this one. I had to stop 10 mins. early and then went on to the stretch but I still have a pretty good workout. He does mostly compound moves with this which I really like and incorporates balance work.

I basically used 5s and 8s but used 10s for back work.

Deanie - I hope you get your KB today too. I can't wait to hear how you like it.

Gin - I watched DWTS last night. I'll be surprised if anyone but Cody goes home. It's supposed to be 2 hours tonight - kids dance in 1st hour and Julieann sings in 2nd hour. Kristi and Mark will be back too. I thought Brooke really messed up the first dance but looked great in the mambo. Lance looked great in both (I can't believe he lost his shoe but it was great that he got through the whole dance). Warren is just fun to watch and sadly, I never really cared for Cody since the beginning.

It sounds like a good thing that you're mom is determined to go home. Hopefully she will get better faster.

Wobbily Wednesday

Good Morning

I just finished PLB doing my pyramid system including the 6 reps. I really like this system. I did use my vest and db's and that made it more enjoyable, I only used my bb for the deadlifts.

I am not looking forward to today...its my afternoon enrichment with the screamer/crier. She has the class in such a state in the mornings, her teachers both hate coming to school because of her, and the 3 teachers who have her for enrichment (I am one of them) dread having her!!! Apparently the parent was approached last year by her daughters 2 year old teacher, that the child needs help, and the parent agreed but didn't do anything about it:mad:So now its an uphill battle and the same thing all over with the 3's teacher suggesting parenting methods and help, but now the parent is blaming other kids in the class and not her daughter. At the staff meeting yesterday, her 2 teacher was upset that we want to stop her from coming to enrichment, because we are supposed to help her, but the only way to help is for her to get prof. help and they tell us how to help her. --there was a big "to do" about it and then the other teacher was in my face because I don't liek to change diapers!!!:mad::mad: Notice I said don't like to change...not I've never changed a kids diapers at the school.... I think she has an issue with me, but I can't figure out what????:confused: Anyway, I am having a hard time letting it go, I dont' think I did anything wrong, wanting not to have her inclass until she gets help, but the other teacher was really ticked off. The worst part is, she doesnt' deal with the problem child at all this year, so I odn't know where she gets off telling me and the other enrichment teacher what to do!!! Okay....thanks for listening to my rant...I am really ticked about the whole thing!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Good Morning!

Today was DM scrambled cardio. Again, I had trouble getting up. I am always so tired.:( I am ready to get off this med!
I missed my friend's b-day party last night because I had such a bad headache.:(

Deanie~I am so sorry that the crier is still doing her crying thing!! What does your director say? That must be so disruptive for the other kids. IMO, your director should be supportive and talk to the parents and if the behavior continues they ask her to leave the school. It just is not fair for the others. How old is this child? I hope the whole situation gets better for you! ((((HUGS))))
I plan to take Class. Stretch and CK to my mom's house. And also I was planning to just go Sat-Tues and be home for Thanksgiving. Now my SIL has invited us to come to their house in Houston. We'll probably just stay here. I'm concerned that 3 extra people staying in their house will be too much for my mom.
Did your kb dvd come in the mail?

Good Morning

Today was cardio, I ended up doing 20 min on the elliptical.

Still no kb dvd. Hoping for today, but if not i found a routine on the internet I am going to try.

Yesterday, after work, I went to talk to the director about the meeting on Tues. (she wasn't there, her DS was in an accident- he's okay) And she had already heard about what went on, and long story short, she said she was sorry she wasn't there to support me. whew! I'm glad she understood where I was coming from and what I was trying to say:D

Gin~ I'm sorry you missed your friends bday party. Can you talk to the dr. about the meds? Were you able to get up and workout today? Your week next week sounds very nice, spending time with family. What are your sons plans? will you see them?

Good Morning!

Today was PLB/PUB combo premix and then PUB abs. This workout is much friendlier as the combo premix just going up the pyramid rather than going down. Doing the ab work after arms was tougher on the stability ball!:p
Tomorrow we have Grandparent's Day at school which is a big day with a program. AND the best part...we get out at noon!:D

Deanie~So glad your director is on your side. She is new this year, right? How do you like her? How was the crier yesterday?
I did talk to the dr about the meds and have to slowly go off, decreasing the dosage for the next 2 weeks. I went to bed at 8:30 and still had to force myself to get up at 5. I just can't live like that!:confused:
My ds24 and DIL will be here on Sunday. They are staying at their home on Thanksgiving b/c she has to work Friday.
What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I was 30 mins. late to work and was swamped all day. Yesterday I did Ali McGraw's Yoga Mind & Body. Heard great things about this one but it didn't do enough for me. Erich Schiffmann does the voiceover on this one. I like him but I like his other practices better.

Today was the hi/lo portion of Rob Glick's Amazing Cardio Combos. Lots of fun -- dancy, hi/lo and a yoga type stretch. Also did BM2 abs and stretch and 2 chins.

Deanie - Glad your PLB system is working for you. Glad to hear your director understands the situation. Were things any better yesterday?

Gin - I hope you have a nice Grandparents Day at school. Sorry you missed your friend's birthday party.

This will be the first Thanksgiving it's just me and DH. We always hosted Thanksgiving so this is quite a change for us. We plan on going out to dinner and maybe a movie.
