Workout space - creaky boards!

Yikes - I thought I was going to end up in the garage this morning when I was doing IMAX2! Anyone else have creaky boards in their upper-level workout space? I think I have to relocate my cardio workouts to the downstairs den... :-(

We have a creaky floor near the high-traffic area. Last weekend, DH fixed it. He got a kit (at Home Depot/Lowes) which contains special screws and a three-prong tool. You put in the screw a certain depth using the three-prong tool. Using the 3prong tool, he snapped the screw head. The rest of screw stays in the board. He had to do it every 4" till the squeek is gone. And it is. Now he has to do my workout areas... it squeeky too, and he doesn't know it yet.

YES! It was awful... not only was it scary, but everybody in the neighborhood had to have known what I was up to. I had to exercise in my bedroom for a long time. Not only was it ridiculously small, but very unstable, as well. All of my furniture vibrated and bounced and hit the walls. Thank goodness that our 5-year houseguest living in the family room finally got her own place. That is now our family room/workout room. Perfect size and concrete floor. And, of course, now my sister and brother-in-law are moving into it :( I'm not at all happy about that. If only homes were built with a little bit of substance these days... it would be ok.

I live in a 150-year-old house on the ground floor, but with a basement underneath. If you put a ball on the floor, it rolls downhill! The floors creak, and during Imax and Imax2, I have nightmares that the floor is going to break through and I'll crash down to the basement! But I like to think those folks in the olden days put a little extra support in the floor.:D

I wouldn't worry about it. We have out workout room on the third floor of our house. The room is similar to a loft. In this room we have weights in 5 lb increments, from 5 to 95 lbs. And yes, they all get used ~ not just by me ~ haha. We also have a treadmill and a Body Solid Gym (sqat rack and other things), and a leg press (gym quality), in addition to other smaller essentials, tv, stereo, step(s) etc. We do have some cracks in the ceilings down stairs and the trim around some door frames are separating a bit, but it's worth it! I worried at first too, but so far so good.
