Weighted Gloves?

I am thinking of purchasing some weighted gloves. Does Cathe and crew wear weighted gloves in Kickmax? If so what weight? I do ub workouts at least 3x weekly the GS series and UB pyramid. Will wearing weighted gloves help to sculpt my arms more or is it just adding the the aerobic endurance. If it will help scupt and tone I'll buy them but if it is just adding to the endurance I think I'll wait.

They aren't wearing weighted gloves. They are wearing wraps (with black tape on to keep them from unravelling). If you do a search for "weighted gloves" in the "Open Discussion" forum, you'll find several threads with recommendations.

I recommend adding no more than 1# (each) gloves when starting, not using them for the whole workout at first (and never for the warm-up) and not adding them until your punching for is perfect.

They are available at Target. They come in 1 and 2 pound sets. They are actually wrist weights with a loop for your thumb to help keep them in place. I use them with Kick Max & KPC, but only during the punching routines, not in the warm-up or blasts. The only downside that I found is that they do not stay in place very well. You have to wrap them very secure and really hold on with your fist. At least, that was my experience. Hope this info helps you :)

I have only used the gloves once, but in my previous experience as a kickboxing instructor, I used 1-3 pound weights sparatically throughout my sessions and my arms were very lean and cut. Especially on the shoulder area. I think it is just personal preference.

I also bought some of these at Target and will wear them during some of my easier aerobics workouts. I have to modify the arm movements if they are too fast. I can't really tell a difference. I also agree with the other poster that they are hard to keep in place. And if you wear a watch, you will need to take it off to wear the gloves. I really could have been just fine without mine.

Although I haven't found the "perfect" ones that stay in place & feel comfy (the Target ones are the best so far), I definitely feel a difference, esp. in shoulder/tri area! To me, they are worth it & pretty cheap. BUT, I would only add the weighted gloves if you have some kickboxing experience & really good form. It;s a great way to "kick it up a notch" once you've been kickboxing for a while.

I aksed the same question a little while ago, and here is Cathe's reply. I bought the gell ones and what a difference it made, plus it is easier just to slip these on instead of having to take the time to wrap your hand each time you do this workout.

Hi Melanie! We are using wrist wraps that we taped down (to be sure that they would not unravel while we filmed). A more popular choice and much more convenient choice for a wrap is as follows if you are interested.

But if you were interested in what we used, here is that link:
