W/O Twice a Day

Rhonda

Cathlete
Hi everyone,

I am working out twice a day (4-6 times a week), aerobics in the morning and either yoga or weight training in the evening before dinner.

Does anyone else to this? I was wondering what a good routine would be. Any suggestions???

Thanks Rhonda

Rhonda: I do this a few times a week (definitely not every day though!)

I will do a weight workout and/or an aerobic workout in the early a.m. before going to work and then tack on a Pilates/yoga workout later on in the day after work.

I don't know why, but when I do a Pilates or yoga workout first thing in the morning, it relaxes me so much that I end up feeling groggy all day! I find doing cardio or weights "revs" me up for the day, so I keep those for my morning workouts.

I do notice, however, that I can only do this like 2x-3x week as I seem to get burned out if I do it any more than that. But that's just me!

I don't do it often, but anywhere from once a month to once-every-two weeks, I will do a double workout on one day of the weekend. I usually do strength in the morning, then cardio in the late afternoon. Sometimes, I won't finish my total body strenght, and leave biceps and triceps to do with the cardio. It helps me put more energy into the arm exercises (which I sandwich in between the cardio warm-up and the rest of the routine).

After seeing my profile in a full=length mirror in a hotel (worse than dressing room mirrors!), I'm tempted to up the frequency of these double workouts to once a week or once-every-two-weeks to blast away that belly bulge!

I will do that when time is an issue, like Saturdays especially, I'll do an aerobics tape, go some regular "life" stuff, then later in the afternoon do some weights. This pattern does NOT seem to work for me on a work day very often because I'm one of those folks who finds it too easy not to work out after my day job.

It's for that reason that I love the CTX series so much, because it's all there and doable in under an hour! What a genius move, Cathe, creating that series!

Just Do It! :)

Wish I had time to do so now and again.

But then I've heard of overtraining....

But then I can't see what doing cardio and then weights at different times could possibly hurt.

To be honest, I would do two per day on at least 2 days/week if I had time. I am lucky to squeeze in one workout per day given my schedule!
