Tracie Long Debut -- Preview

TarHeelMom

Cathlete
Hi folks! Just passing along a little info. I got an e-mail today from Tracie Long Productions with the following link to a Quicktime Movie preview of Tracie's upcoming "Core Cardio" (filmed aboard the USS Yorktown, interesting choice of site). You may need to download Quicktime to view this -- it won't work on Windows Media Player or RealPlayer. If you need it, you can get Quicktime from this link: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Here's the link to the Tracie preview -- Enjoy!

Hey Kath!

Dumb question...How long does it take to download the Quicktime? I started to download it and it was taking forever so I canceled it. Just curious. I know everyone's computers work at diff speeds but mine was crawling!!

After seeing that makes me appreciate Cathe's personality even more. Tracie sounds similar to the Firm.

Same here, I just didn't care for the preview. Looked rather bland to me no fun factor at all in my opinion. I'll stick with Cathe's fun factor :)

Hi Kathy! WOW this one looks pretty good! I'll have to break down & get this one! I've never done a workout by Tracie before but it looks like I'll have to experience it now. Thanks, Kathy:D

She sounds like the Firm because that's where Tracie got her start--like so many of us!!! She's come a long way.

RE: Hey Kath!

I have dynamic strength and it is my fav video right now. it is straight forward atletic moves with different twist it has me gasping for air and I'm in really good shape. But I tend to enjoy atletic moves because I can get into them as hard as I can.I will be ordering these and maybe functional fitness.

I thought I was doing pretty good with the stability ball until I did JAC's Core Foundations. These are tough moves!!That workout is a very humbling experience for me. And according to Tracie's website I will quote " the two new workouts build on the 3 (Core Foundations, Functional Stength and Dynamic Strength). Get CF (Core Foundations) at least, it will give you better core strength than anything on the market. Then you will be ready for mine."

If I hadn't already been using Cathe's stability ball workouts, this Core Foundations would have killed me.! The science behind these new workouts are based on everyday moves. Most weight training, etc. is basically the same. So many reps, so many sets and working one muscle at a time or opposing ones. The V concept is about using several muscles at a time. Most programs don't prepare us for a 'reach behind to the backseat of a car'. In these new workouts, there are many moves that expound on training muscles, even the smaller ones, that are often neglected. Try doing a lunge with the left leg, twist to the right holding an 8# ball. I'm going to master that if it does kill me. LOL
So the workouts aren't this versus that. It is this is different than that. There is a place for everything. Just do it as the saying goes.

I wish Tracie all the best. I think she is onto something that is cutting edge. Her sets aren't lavish but good grief....these are her first workouts on her own. I for one, will support her the same as I very much support Cathe. It is all about moving and getting up off the couch, right? ;-)

I re-reading my post above, it sounds like the new workouts are impossible to do. My meaning is, the workouts are challenging in a good way. Practice makes the nerves in your body get acclimented to a certain move, esp. balance moves such as these.
Over at Tracie's, there is a thread by JAC on the core work. She says to try doing the Core Foundations 3 x's a week for a month and then let her know how different your core is. Since my lower abs are the weakest part of me, I'm going to give it a go and see if there is improvement. I will add this on to my Cathe workouts. Can't have too much core work, right? Summer is coming! LOL
Tracie has some interesting things to say about her own core work. Take a look see if you visit her website.

I got the three TLP workouts, and they look interesting (previewed, but have not done yet). Very different (in a good way, not in a "weird, Fitprime way) moves that look quite functional and challenging. There are some odd things about the workouts, especially workout three, where the step magically appears and disappears between shots (the shots look smoothly edited, but when there is a change of camera, the step is/or is not/there!)

Before I saw these, I was hoping Cathe would come out with a workout that incorporated the med ball for both cardio and resistance.

Hi Kathryn!

I spell my "Kathryn" the same way, BTW :) -- did you know that "our" two-syllable spelling is Irish and the three-syllable version is English in origin? Today's trivia lesson.

I got the three videos that you did and I have previewed all three and did the first two yesterday. I had the same thought you did on video three -- that magic step keeps popping in and out. :)

Kathyrn and Kathy S., I received Functional Strengh and Dynamic Strength today, and just finished previewing them. I like them!! The lighting could be a bit brighter, and in some of the shots I can't tell what the lead is doing, but overall I believe I'm going to really like these workouts! The step popping in and out is kind of different, but I think once I get used to the workouts I'll know when to push it out of the way.

At least the editing isn't jumpy and all over the place like the FitPrimes were, and the sound quality is good. I like the music, and it looks like they work your core a lot!! Can't wait to try them!!

I know I'm loving my 3 DVD's.}( Have you all see the preview pictures of the 2 new ones that Tracie leads? The ones where she is doing an airborne jump with bands around her ankles and holding the big med ball? Looks scarey! But gotta have it....}( }(

Did you girls notice on your Functional Strength DVD, the voice not being in sync with Bonnie's lips? Mine is really off in places. I think Tracie and crew is working on what to do about the problem. ??
Also, on all three of mine, they don't play and introduction or trailer credits. It goes straight to the chapter page and won't go any further. Someone thought it might be because these DVD are set up for a video player. ???

I think these workouts are going to be a great addition to my program at least. Hope I don't kill myself doing those stradle hops across the mysteriously disappearing step box. ;-)
