Strong & Sensible

Hi, I did a couple of rounds of mostly body weight work and some planks. Everyone doing stuff for Easter? I'm working tomorrow then off for three (we will see, I might cave and pick up shifts). Mary, all that grad stuff sounds pretty intense but I'm sure very all the friends and family will pull together = lots of joy! Sorry about the taxes, I don't have state, just Fed and have refunds this year. You guys get some of those 2 education breaks ? I can't remember what they are called, but for me, dd net school expenses weren't high enough to qualify this year or last. I guess that is better to have lower school cost than it is to have high ones then jump through hoops to get money back. Waves all around!

Hi all, we cycled beginning of the week and just took a couple of days off. Heading out now for quick ride before sushi lunch with BFF and DH. Easter will be rainy here so getting a ride in tomorrow. As far as sis, she emailed, full of excuses IMO. I replied with honesty (it hurts to hear truth sometimes), we will see, I'm really trying to move on, I've done all I can. Taxes we got slight refund, income was different last year given DH retirement. Ronne, hope you had a nice week off, Greek food, yum! Mary, they grow so fast! But it's nice when you have independant grown children, so proud. Jody, how's the garden? Gotta run!

Reporting that I slacked off today. I did respond to a panic situation. Received an email receipt from a Hampton for a hotel stay in Alabama, all of my info, bottom line I freaked that my identity may have been stolen (I've recently gotten some other stuff in the mail that was concerning). So after fretting and a round of freezes on credit reports and fraud alert, it all seems OK, prob just a mix up and someone put in my rewards number. In the meantime I also pulled my reports. I'm now working Sat extra. Lisa, garden is OK. I'd like to plant more lettuces. Have a nice weekend! PS Tracy, give us a thumbs up or something when you can!

Mary, nice! Happy Easter to all! Tabata and Hiit from TTM and body weight UB rounds done. More concerns on the identity stuff, anyone use a password manager? All for now~

Jody, so scary! I freak out too. Haven't used a Pw manager. I hope all is ok.

Mary, what a great surprise!

I'm pretty sore from the bike rides, outta shape or old age? Thank goodness for rain so I don't feel bad taking rest days

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a blessed Easter. It was so nice to spend time with DD. Niece moved in this weekend, drove 29 hours from Arizona in 2 days! So far so good, she has interviews scheduled all week so far. Fingers crossed!

Jody, hope everything is ok with credit. Makes me nervous. Someone once got my card and bought $3000 worth of porn. Thank goodness the credit card company called, said it seemed out of my normal purchases!

Lisa, so nice to be outside. We mowed on Monday and it all ready needs to be done again! Did sister ever answer you??

Ronne, are you on vacation?

Tracey, are you out there?

Not much today, probably the grass. We are going to see Avengers End Game on Friday, DS is psyched for that. I hear it’s 3 hours, I’ll probably need to go buy some depends to get through it! Lol! Mary

Mary, LOL :D at movie tactics. Apparently I'm way behind on the Marvel Universe, which is too bad. At least I'm fully up to date and immersed in GoT. Enjoy the evening. My dd also going on Fri. Also, to cc usage.

Lisa, looked like a nice ride on Strava the other day. My recent 10mph avg reflected paved and minimal crossroad stretches. I've really got the bug though, I want to do some long trails.

Ronne, what are you up to?

My back is a little glitchy from recent body weight workout or maybe the impact from jumping on step. I did a quick ride around my neighborhood the other day and otherwise I'm working every other day. Hopefully the passwords and other stuff is OK, I'm working on it. I'll come back and report a workout later, but I'll be working all weekend so that will be it for a few days.

Waves to absent friends~

Hi ladies! I'm the one waaaay behind on movies/tv......I finally watched Bohemian Rhapsody, loved it! I won't be rushing to GoT or Marvel.

Jody, we did have a fabulous ride yesterday, even with the trail closure where we had to route up onto the road, it all worked out! It helps that the area is a big cycling area as it makes the drivers more courteous! You're catching the cycling bug! I do prefer it over walking these days, but wow, my body gets tired! We were going to take a quick ride this morning but I"m beat, and Friday looks like it's not going to be windy afterall so I'm taking a rest day. I did have a headache all day yesterday after the ride, I think it's the allergies, everything is blooming.

Mary, funny you should ask about response from sis. I wasn't going to say anything, she did sent me an email yesterday. It's obviously prompted by the therapist. "I am sorry for causing you to get so upset. The therapist and myself thought it might be a good idea for you to go to my next appointment. It would be a good time for us to resolve our issues." I feel very ambivalent about this, as I think about what I'd say, I cry, I'm such a wuss, so emotional. shrug I'm keeping my wall up to protect myself no matter what, I"ve paid the price these last 9 months and I"m sticking strong to keeping MY best interests.

Ha, I forgot to include another workout I did besides cycling! I did vacuum-max and DH did mop-max! We have a new system for cleaning the house where he helps and I've finally succumbed to the fact that I just don't have the neck stamina to vacuum AND mop the same day. It works and it's great!

Hi all

Lisa - I'm with you - not interested in GoT or all that Marvel stuff, yawn! Perhaps you can politely turn your sis down without causing too much more friction. Good cleaning plans with DH! Glad to hear you're back on the bike as well and enjoying it.

Jody - hope work isn't too busy and you get a break from time to time. So we've got another cyclist on the team, we may have to move elsewhere if Mary or I jump ship as well! Hope the back gets better.

Mary - that's proper American driving! You'd fall off the edge if you tried that here! Hope she settles in and doesn't cause you extra work. Take lots of snacks (and a pillow!) to the film.

So, I enjoyed the week off. DH and I went away to the coast for a couple of nights, did a bit of walking, went out for a couple of meals. Stayed in a lovely b&b on a vineyard. I did not look at work emails all week, I did do a bit of housework and painted the bathroom ceiling but also read lots, watched tv and just relaxed.
Work has been super busy this week since I got back hence (!) lack of posts. Been keeping up with the workouts, mix of cardio, yoga and weights. Did a good premix of ICE TTM (is that what it's called, the LB on the floor one) with abs mixed through it today.
Off to the hairdressers tomorrow, perhaps a mooch round town but not much else planned this weekend.
Have a good one everyone!

Hi everyone! Today did an Yvette workout. Made it through the movie, only one bathroom break and one nap! DS wanted to go, not my favorite at all. The things we do for love! I have never seen GoT myself, no interest. VEEP, I just love!

Lisa, I didn’t care for Bohemian Rhapsody, the music was phenomenal. Freddy Mercury seemed like a not nice person! Wow, that would be an interesting appointment with your sister! I don’t think I’d be running to that either!

Ronne, time away with DH! Sounds wonderful!

Jody, how’s your back? Better I hope! GoT, it’s bloody isn’t it? I heard about the Red Wedding, I don’t do well with violence! I’m such a baby!

Good weekend to all! Niece got a full time job, as a pharmacy tech, so that’s a relief! Mary

Hi fit babes! I've missed you all! And suffice it to say, I've taken many notes. :)

Hi Mary! Great job on doing one bathroom break and the bonus nap in the movie! I LOLed when you said you needed some Depends for it! The C4 your DH takes doesn't feel like any stroke that I know of, it's more like a caffeine jolt. I did start taking a supplement like it and I don't always feel the tingling. But it has made a big difference in my workouts now. I see your busy home is going to be staying busy with your niece staying with you! That's great she landed a job already! I think pharmacy techs have to have some schooling to do their job but I'm not positive about that. Wow! You have 3 graduates next year! Good thing you are starting to plan for them now. :D I've had my credit card number stolen a couple of times but never to spend 3k on porn! LOL that your cc company felt it was an unusual purchase for you. I'm up on GoT (except for this season's 2nd episode) and yes, it is violent and bloody. The joke is that everyone dies in it. And really, the cast is a lot smaller this season than when the show began! I've watched a couple of VEEP episodes recently and the things that come out of Selena's mouth both shock me and make me laugh a lot!

Hey Jody! Why did you stop taking C4? I realized when I started taking the supplement I got (from Beachbody) that my problem was dehydration. I asked one of my same age co-workers, "Do you think we get dehydrated when we have more birthdays?" I just told my 87 year old dad about it today in fact because he is losing his stamina for walking. Any time I visit him, he doesn't drink any water. So I hope this does the trick for him. I think I hated my weight for at least 10 years before I did anything about it. But I wasn't mentally ready to do anything that would be hard before then. And I'm not in a place now to go back to it, I can only do what little I am doing at the moment. $1300 in homeowners insurance seems very high to me still. Did your ins. company say why it is so high? Our snow situation remained with snow on the ground until early April. It's sunny today but really windy. We don't usually get windy here. I definitely think your job counts as a workout so if you procrastinate at home and then throw everything in a corner, who cares?
We can only do what we can do and that's good enough! I finished Cathe's Jan. rotation and then moved on to her Feb. rotation in my weird zig zag fashion. ;) My doggies are good, thank you for asking! Had to get both of them shaved due to matting (it seems to happen to a lot of dogs this time of year) and I was shocked when little Riley came out with no hair on his ears at all! He has beagle ears now and I hate it! :p
It will all grow back but in the meantime, there will be no photos! I did not know that you could rent a clunker in the bike world! I learned something new today! Your birthday is March 29? Happy belated birthday! That's also my dad's birthday. :) Sounds to me like you had a great first ride on your new bike with that old geezer! And many more since. That's awesome you have the riding bug! I'm very impressed that DD paid cash for her new car--I have never done that ever! And you going 8 mph on your bike is definitely hauling ass to me. Ah, your days of no wine, good sleep and getting caught up seem like heaven! I have never used a password manager, I hope things are straightened out with your credit! I'm up on GoT except for the 2nd episode which I have recorded. It's a pretty big deal for some of us at work--we have a pool as to who's going to live, who's going to die, who will be a white walker, who will have the throne, etc.

Hi Lisa! I was so excited to see things getting better with local sis only to have everything come crashing down again, I am so sorry! As to her forgetting things, I'm with Jody in that I have some memory issues with words (that is from menopause) and I am often exhausted after work from the stress of it. I think local sis has memory issues due to stress. I know you've had a bomb cyclone and avalanches! I also heard you got a second bomb cyclone after the first one! SCARY! I hope all of that is over with now! I agree your local anchor is a cutie! You ROAR you cougar, ROAR! :D

Gotta sign off for now, will be back soon!

Back to continue! :)

Lisa, I love that you double fisted your beer drinking at the beer festival! :D I'm glad that your other sis apologized for berating you, that was really unfair. And I totally agree with your decision not to take in your nephew--you have enough to deal with. Plus, how would you get your needed alone time if your nephew was there? I love your vacuum and mop max workouts with DH! I am lucky that my DH takes on some things too. I don't know if the therapy session your sister asked you to attend has already occurred, but I had a different take on it. I think it would be good for local sis to know what the past 9 months have done to you and that's why you have to back off and take care of yourself. But I support whatever you choose to do of course! I hope your weather is consistently good bike riding weather now. And please give Suki a hug from me!

Jody, between my last post and this one, I went to a friend's house to meet their Corgi puppy. What a little cutie she is! I brought her some obnoxious squeeky toys too. :D

Ronne, before I forget, I want to mention that Cathe on Demand now has all the premixes for her workouts! It's something like 1500 in all. Something you've been waiting for I believe. :) I'm not streaming yet, it will take me a while to embrace it because Beachbody's streaming fails a lot. And that is the only way to get their workouts now. I like your workout plans, strong and sensible like Jody said. I used to do workouts M-Th every week for years but life is more unpredictable now so I do them when I can or feel like it (meaning sometimes on the weekends). Congrats on doing CCC! I lost that one when I sold it on eBay. :p
I followed the Feb. rotation too (I think it was February's!) and was surprised by how tough RSK was too! I also thought of you when I did PHA and I'm glad it wasn't so bad for you! I think of you every time I hear the word Brexit. What little I know of it is from John Oliver's show. I don't think you are a laughing stock, I think we're doing that here very well. In fact, on John Oliver's show, they showed the PM (I hope that's the right term) of Australia imitating our POTUS and it was pretty embarrassing to me as an American! I love being in quiet nature and have to admit I am so spoiled where I live. I am in the woods and I have neighbors but they are at least 50 feet away in all directions. A delivery truck broke down not far from our house awhile ago and DH overheard the driver say he was happy to be broken down in one of his favorite areas. :) I don't blame you at all for tearing up over the loss of your snake, she was a devoted companion for many years! I am sorry you lost her.

I am sorry to have been gone for awhile, DH and I went to San Diego for almost a week and there was a lot to do before we went. And a lot to do after we got back! The trip was wonderful, sunny, not too hot at all, and we packed in every place we could see. I think my favorite was the Sunset Cliffs. They go for miles and its a pretty big deal to see them. Meaning everyone and their brother goes there! It was hard to find parking, but we did! Pick up trucks backed in, motorhomes parked, people partied. And all just to see the sunset high above the ocean. But I love the ocean so that's probably why it was my favorite. We have beaches here too, but they're pretty different. Colder for one, the surf isn't very high, and you can drive on them here. :) Other than that, work has been busy and DH's older brother managed to retire from the state at 59 1/2 years old. Depressed me and DH! But finally, DH wants to look at the finances and make some plans. I've been wanting to do that for years. So yay!

I finished Cathe's Feb. rotation last week and I want to do a Beachbody program next. If I can get the streaming to work that is! I also have a long weekend planned with a girlfriend for hiking and wine tasting in a couple of weeks. Can't wait for that, I don't get much hiking in these days. I don't even care about the wine tasting really. ;)

I have written your ears off enough fit babes, I will let you go now. Have an awesome and healthy week! Tracy

Hi ladies!
Good to see you Tracy! Sounds like a great getaway with DH and now one with the GF! I want to see a pic of the shaved dogs :) were you surprised they shaved the ears too? Should they have just been trimmed? Suki says hi! I do plan to go to the therapist, firstly to listen, not sure how much I really have to say, I said it all in my BS email I sent to her with her excuses, but mostly because I still can not talk about it without crying over the immense hurt. I'm a compassionate emotional sort, but never should it be mistaken for weakness, I'm putting ME first from now on. Did you (or anyone) see our horrific crash here in Denver? 24 cars, 4 semis, a fiery crash that closed the interstate for almost 48 hrs? I cried over that, the horror of it all. Brief synopsis, semi coming out of the mountains (who chose not to take the runaway truck ramp) came down the mountain at 85 mph, traffic was at a standstill and the guy plowed into the sitting cars. I can't believe only 4 people died, but sadly 4 people died. Probably never saw it coming. Just so sad, truck driver said a semi was on the shoulder of the highway so instead he turned the truck into the sitting cars and prayed he would die.

Mary, that's so awesome about the niece! As far as Bohemian Rhapsody, I was never a big Queen fan, did like certain songs. I looked at the movie amazed at the creativeness of people and do you have to have a streak of crazy to be creative? I hope not because I've been pretty creative with some quilts lately. Designing the piecing of the quilt top on my own, making use of every bit of fabric, and next is the quilting. :)

Ronne, A nice excursion for you and DH too. DH had dog sitting off last week, we just puttered around the house, it was nice just to putter. Did some longer bike rides, just finished one yesterday....I'm finally starting to feel in better shape for the hills! Now we have rain and snow coming in all week, so won't get out until Friday.

Jody, It's been quiet from you, have you been busy working?

Well off to be creative (and hopefully not crazy) :)

Quickie check in since I'm off today and probably should do a workout of some sort! I did a ride/walk the other day and discovered some more trails. I feel really lame about Grad b/c all I'm doing is going up there and attending and providing a monetary gift. Grad itself is complicated- outside at the stadium, 60K people, only small clear bags allowed, bring rain poncho for rain or shine, hotel normally 60 a night is 260 a night, mom can't walk far or do stairs, shuttles to Uni, vs parking. I have a lot of deets to figure out. Nervous!
Make that ANXIOUS. I've had 3 known hotel rewards accounts opened/breached. Different emails.

Hello everyone

Jody - hope you enjoyed your day off. Wow, I can't believe the hotel prices. That's outrageous! That's a lot of people, it must be a massive university.

Lisa - hope the weather has improved for you to get out this weekend. No, I didn't hear about the crash, that sounds horrific. Is the therapist thing soon?

Tracy - hello! Sounds like the San Diego trip was good. I never found those cliffs when we were there (which wasn't for long anyway). I did think it was pretty expensive for eating out though. We went to one restaurant and just had a starter and left!! Have fun on your wine tasting weekend, sounds fab!

Mary - that's good news about niece. So will she stay with you for a while? Until she finds her own place or more permanent?

I haven't managed to get many workouts in recently. I've had meetings to go to and so much work it's been really difficult.
I did manage an X10 today and I'm planning to do some weights tomorrow. That will be it for a few days though as my parents are coming for the weekend. I'm making some cranberry and coconut macaroons.
I went to the theatre last night to see Ian McKellen. He's doing a tour to celebrate his 80th birthday. He was amazing, just talking about his life and performing poetry and speeches. Really felt like a special evening.

8500 grads this spring, about 60K students- the town explodes during grads, games and moving weekends. Heading out in a bit and I'm hoping for safe travels, minimal rain and stuff like that! I did KCM Shape Up twice this week, both times subbing in BW work on tower, etc for the weight portions and also a bike ride on Tues. Also, I've been doing pretty well on alcohol and food sobriety.

Ronne I follow Ian Mckellen on Twitter and have seen his posts for the tour, it looks awesome, so glad you got to go and that it was really nice! Also yum to baking!

Lisa, I haven't fully figured out how they break down segments and stuff on Strava yet or the other achievement thingys. It is really good tracking though. I want to find other riders in the area to discover other rides I might like to take. Horrible horrible accident, I didn't hear about it though.

Mary, congrats to niece!
Tracy, more when I'm less rushed but great to see you!
Identity thing probably OK, just a weird group of coincidences. Note to self, limit sharing of email and info, oops, too late.

Quick update from Gainesville, grad success! Overall it's way less crowded than expected. Colleges are staggered out over whole weekend and the town and traffic and wait times are still lower than I've previously experienced. My mom is doing well and both my girls are fantastic and amazing in their own ways. Woop!6467

Good morning! Did a Cathe live today.

Jody, I saw the pictures on Facebook, you and your girls are beautiful and congratulations!!!

Lisa, did you go to the therapist with your sister? I have been thinking of you!

Ronne, Ian McKellen, what an absolute treasure!

Tracey, your trips sound wonderful! I was thinking about your dad, when we mature we don’t have the same sensation of thirst, so we don’t drink as much as we used to, have to be reminded to drink. So interesting to me how everything changes and it’s so gradual we don’t even realize.

Hope everyone has a good day, today it finally stopped raining, supposed to start up again on Tuesday, hopefully tomorrow will be dry enough to mow. We have a field instead of a lawn. Good thing everyone else does too, Mary

Hi all, we had a beautiful weekend so DH and I got in lots of cycling and exploring new areas/routes. Another rain/snow event coming this week. Yes I did go to therapist, overall it went well. There were a couple of times I had to repeat things (when she went into self pity, and then all the crap I've been through). She finally acknowledged that her isolation/self pity actually can be because she allows it. And she finally got at least how lucky she is that I saved what money I could, and said such. Therapist stated a couple of times about how the WHOLE family has been affected by this and how she should make amends. I think she's trying, she did a nice gesture for me this weekend, she's sent an apology email to the sibs. I need to learn not to let her walk all over me and this has given me the strength to say 'no' when she wants to do something I don't want to do. Hope that makes sense. She said therapist said it went well and she invited me to next session. I don't want to go, not sure if she's dragging me in or if therapist is wanting it because I think the therapist learned a WHOLE lot from me. Regardless, I'm not going again, she has things to work on by herself IMO.

Jody, congrats! I saw the pics too on FB, very nice! People have created segments, and you see where you place as far as speed. Last year I was trying to place high in some of the segments. This year I'm more just riding around. I do have to say I finally am feeling (and seeing) that I'm about back in cycling shape. My Garmin gives me how much recovery I need based on HR. Yesterdays ride was spot on to what is normal for me when in shape, woot!

Mary, aw, thanks for the thought vibes, I felt them! :)

Ronne, I feel like I should know this Ian :) . I've been reading a Jordan Peterson book '12 rules for life' . Pretty interesting and spot on so far. It sure makes me think!
