I am going crazy looking for a good pair of cross-trainers to use for Cathe's workouts. Which shoes are you guys using for the high impact workouts? Thanks so much!

I use anything with a lot of heel cushioning and lateral support. I always end up with Asics. They give me exactly what I need for my feet. So it depends on your feet and needs. I've also found running sneakers to have great heel cushioning.

I'm with tlc.

I use running shoes for running, power-walking, and step workouts (these shoes have an appropriate heel drop for me to avoid achilles strain and injury) and my Asics cross trainers for plyo/HiiT/floor cardio and weight training.

I have the following cross trainers, love them (excellent cushioning and lateral support, plus they look cool!):

I have two pair: one is for lower body without too much cardio that is stable for lunges, squats, and side to side moves.
And a second pair, my "Sketchers" that have so much cushion that it makes me feel like jumping and doing more cardio. These I love!

Lucia, what are your LB shoes?

Justine, I share your confusion over circuit shoes. I usually wear my cardio shoes in the end.

Which Sketchers do you have, Lucia? There's a billion different styles available on Amazon, and my head is swimming from shoe shopping online right now. I need something with cushioning, as my Achilles tendon is giving me grief ATM. And I underpronate, although I could always an insert in. Loads of fun trying to find a neutral shoe that's not minimalist and has any measure of lateral support. I'm trying to find the right new shoes for step, Cathe's Cardio Core Circuit (perhaps new running shoes for this one, maybe?), outdoor walking and light hiking...oy vey. The step aerobics search ALONE is making me crazy! Thanks in advance. :)

For everyone, knowing y'all will understand...Why on earth must Ryka discontinue every single freaking pair of sneakers that ends up being great for step? I would think with Zumba step coming out, some shoe manufacturer would buy a clue, but not that I can see. And what's up with Ryka messing up their sizing so badly in the last few years? Going narrow in the forefoot, while the heel is too big? They used to be just the opposite. I remember buying them 8-12 years ago from QVC, back when I wore an 11D no less (now I wear 10.5B), and they were the bomb! Perfect fit and cushiony comfort every time. Now I feel like one of Cinderella's ugly stepsisters whose foot just doesn't quite fit the shoe when I try them on. I've tried upping size or upping width, only to find that's not the issue- my heel slips or the laces are super long and I get blisters, because they're way too big. Then I read others had the same issue, so apparently it's not just my feet. Anyway...I wish they'd go back to making shoes like they did in the early 90s! Anyone else watch Cathe's old step videos and stare longingly at their sneakers, or am I just weird?

The cardio Sketchers that make me want to jump are called "Tone up Fitness"
Just because it was not true and they don't reshape your buns doesn't mean they weren't comfortable and springy and cushiony. I have yet to find another brand that is as cushiony. And I think that adds to the desire to work out. I can feel the difference when I go from one pair to the other. I bought them a couple of years ago and since I work out twice a week and during vacation time daily then they don't wear out so fast so I have no idea if they are still made. When I travel to another state to visit my mom the Sketchers store is a block away.

I just looked at them, and am surprised that they are also Sketchers Sports very steady side ways and comfortable for everything.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner I just saw your post.

I thought those looked really comfy when I saw them on Amazon. Thanks for responding. :)
