Polar FT 80 vs. FT 60

If you have either of these heart rate monitors, can you please tell me any pros and cons. And even any major difference between the two (besides the whopping price difference).

Also, do both come 'complete' for keeping track of your data? I read that the polar FT 60 requires another part (a cable or computer attachment??) to upload the data on the hrm to your computer to keep track.

I am mainly looking for the following: easy to use and get around the menu system, easy to press buttons, calories burned, HR zones, programmable to my stats (age, wt, etc). A plus would be to track percentages of calories burned from fat and track HR and calories in one workout with different phases (warm up, workout, cool down) . I do not need GPS.

Thanks for any input.

Hi - I've just been given the FT60, and I love it. It was the price of FT80 which helped me choose (it was a Christmas present, so I couldn't really ask for the expensive one ;) ). The only difference seems to be that the FT80 is useful if you're strength training - it tells you how long to wait between sets, according to your heart rate. I didn't feel I particularly needed that feature (I follow Cathe or just wait until my heart rate has settled). I think the FT80 also comes with the polar flow - I had to buy mine separately (UK£30).

Everything I need for tracking is on the FT60 - I'm following the Polar 'Star' programme to maximise fitness (other choices are weight loss or improve fitness). Each week (I've only done 1!) I then download to the Polar website.

I love data, so the gadget has been perfect for me.

Thanks Justine, this is the exact info I was looking for. I will probably get the FT 60 also since I also gathered the biggest difference was for strength training - I just didn't understand how it would benefit me. Since I follow a DVD, rather than do weights by myself, I do not think I need that option.

What is the Polar Flow? Is it necessary? Is that the computer cable I may have read about?

Also, I was just in the UK for almost a month and LOVED it! Had never been there before (I am in USA). Will be heading back at the end of this year.

So glad you like it over here! It can take some getting used to....
The Polar Flow is the cable - just lets you download the data - I quite like having it online - Polar give you graphs and things. I'm a geek at heart!

Let me know when you head over to the UK -if you need anything / info etc.
