I started a new thread because I have tried to post a response to your question twice and it's not showing up for some reason.
I've been through what you're going through. I have UC and have been on high dose pred a couple of times. I experienced the bloating, weight gain, excessive energy, trouble sleeping, night sweats - fun stuff. Also, I was constantly ravenous.
The higher the dose, the worse the side effects. I hope you'll be able to taper off quickly. Have you talked to your doctor about alternatives like the immunosuppressants? Are you taking azulfadine or asacol?
