Good morning all,

I did a KCM 30 Minutes to Fitness total body weight workout. One of the pre-mixes. Felt good, it took me a while to get up off my butt and get downstairs to do it.

Lots of HouseMax today, laundry etc, then off to my niece's who is having a birthday dinner for my SIL.

We saw the puppies yesterday, very cute, I want them all. I have more pics but I will spare you. LOL :D

Valerie, good job on the weight loss!

Have a great "rest of the weekend"

Take care,

Not sure we're going to do the trip we'd planned. now the weather looks better where we live vs east of the mts.

Did gardenmax and deckmax yesterday. DH cleaned the deck with occasional assistance from me.. it's mostly a 1 person job and I can't start the washer. what is it about those pull cord starters? I run out of arm before it starts and I'm pulling hard enough. so I weeded, picked broccoli, tied up peas, planted more beans, sort of misc garden chores. our garden is about 3 levels below our house... very sloped lot... so garden projects involve a lot of up and down staircase walking. had to help DH move the washer up and down steps, and occasional other maneuvers. a pretty active day.

Doing a bike ride today, probably around 30 miles. we have a couple loops we enjoy, most being close to that distance.

Deb, have you ever seen a puppy that wasn't cute??? puppies and kittens, who can resist. Hope you're able to pick one without too much agonizing. Strong work on the workout. If you do 1 or two on the weekend you can let some of those early morning weekday ones slide without feeling too guilty.

I've gotten re-motivated on the weight loss. I've been probably losing slowly since mid May. I'm sure I had gained a few lbs. I'm trying to do a weight watchers approach by eating normal food, watching portions, keeping snacks but reducing the amount seriously. I count my chips or nuts. If I pay attention a couple of chips is just as satisfying as a small bowlful with no where near the calorie load and I don't feel deprived. also stuck with the artificial sweetener on my oatmeal. I like agave but I was getting a big calorie load there. I don't drink diet pop or use it anywhere else but just cannot get oatmeal down without sweetener.

Hi Deb, Valerie, and any later posters--

This morning I did Rockin' Models (70 min.).

Went to see Keigwin and Company at Jacob's Pillow yesterday with my usual entourage (2 women friends). Whenever I see these dancers' bodies, I feel inspired to just keep on exercising. I liked the programme of performances better than my friends. Won't be going again until July 16.

Good for you, Deb, on getting started again on your workouts! Oh, go ahead and put up some more pics of the pups. Cannot beat puppies for cuteness.

Good luck on Weightwatcher's, Valerie! The only time I eat chips is when we are at the Jersey Shore. For some reason, those Utz chips just taste better at the beach. DH is now all enthused about these olive oil tortas (Spanish). I bought them by mistake a few weeks ago, thinking they were good for hummus or baba ghanouj, but it turns out they are cinnamony. He loves them, so I indulge his fancy.

Trying to decide whether to go see the new Woody Allen film, Midnight in Paris. Have not really enjoyed his stuff for awhile (did not like Vicki Christina Barcelona).

well, as far as a rest , i did work at the vet clinic in the heat for 3 days, and then g/kids spent the nite thursday and friday. rode horses fri morn, played in the little bit of water in the creek, swam fri and sat afternoon. so, i only worked out twice, but not a lot of rest. the rain was wonderful. we are still praying for more. we are so far behind in our rainfall. if your on facebook ya gotta go look at the pics of the kids in the creek. so cute

oh, and i forgot , i did do super charged sculpting & 15m of maximum cardio this aftern

Deb glad you did a wo. I can't believe how much strength I lost.

I just finished disc 15. This week I got a little behind. We ended up babysitting and stayed overnight Saturday. Didn't get much sleep because we had terrible storms and hail. I kept waiting to hear the sirens to take kids to basement.

I thought test would tell more about the Crohn's disease. It only was to see if it was safe to do a colonoscopy. They now think it is safe so that's next.

Joan

Good morning,

well no workout this morning, we have a squirrel in the basement and he seems to like my workout room, so that is where DH set up the trap. I opened the back door ( hall to the kitchen, not the actual back door) and there he was, right at the bottom of the stairs looking up at me. I don't know who was more surprised, him or me. He ran down the basement stairs. DH went looking for him and found him in my workout room, but could not do anything, as he didn't have a net or whatever. By the time he got back there with a net, he was gone. We set the trap up last night before going to my brother's for dinner. Nothing yet. This is the 3rd time a squirrel has gotten in and we cannot figure out how. I even had a exterminato come, spent $650, to put some screening or whatever on the eves, and we had 2 after that.

Joan, when is the colonoscopy? I'll be thinking of you. Not the test, the night before.

Cathy, not on Facebook, wish you could post the pics here. Are you still not seeing your new avatar and new pic of 4 grandkids?

Garance, the breeders were telling us how they have to be very careful when they start to put the puppies in the big pen in their yard, the hawks start circling around. I thought, "they need Max!"

Valerie, hope you get to take a trip, somewhere.

Later,

Hi Deb, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did KCM's TLC, both boxing and conditioning with 1 lb. gloves (60 min.).

Funny you should mention hawks and Max, because yesterday DH caught a hawk feasting on one of his chickens. Today Max is on guard duty, which he has not been for ages. We had to put a mesh on the exhaust for our dryer because a mouse tried to chew his way in through the lint screen! It is often very hard to figure out how and where these critters find their way into the house.

Cathy, sorry, I don't do Facebook. I heard this morning that the temps in Texas are well over 100! Gosh, I don't know how you can stand it.

Joan, good luck on the colonoscopy! Sounds like STS is proving to be a real challenge this go-round. Hmmm! Wonder what will happen if I start it again.

Hi to Valerie!

well, i still see the pic of me and my grandson only for some strange reason. the avatar is the dog, so don't know why i can't see the new one i put up. i guess i could try to put them on here, but i don't really know how. where do i put them when they are not part of my signature?

yea, lynda, it is pretty miserable here, i am very grateful for AC. we are still waay behind on rain even though we got a good rain last week. but, with the 100' temps , it won't last long.

love, love love defined lines. it is SOOOO fun. i love hurdles, and i hate floor work and there is not very much in here. so, great w/out, added the last 15 m or so of maximum cardio. tomorrow i am planning on doing leaning out.

Morning all,

No squirrel yet, so no workout. I am not going down there until he is caught.

Garance, poor chicken! That had to be awful to see. Max on duty again!!

Cathy, good job on the workout, regarding your pic. why don't you post a question in the forum and maybe the tech guy that answers quesions about the site will help you? It's really strange that we can see your pic in our signature line with the 4 grandkids and you can't. It must be a setting in your profile or something like that.

Gotta run, late...will check in at lunch time.

Hi Deb, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did both of KCM's Split Sessions for upper and lower body (60 min.).

Actually, Cathy, I can't see your 4 grandkids either. I just see your bloodhound avatar and the photo of you with your one grandchild. Deb has a good suggestion, though.

Yesterday was beautiful, but today it's clouding up again. Blech!

Deb, how do you know the squirrel is still there? Is it now trapped inside? The crows are helping Max with the hawks--really interesting to watch them mob the hawk while Max is just barking a warning to all of them. The chickens look kind of rattled by all of the hubbub.

Hi to Joan and Valerie!

Hi,

we know the squirrel is there because he did not have a way out. DH saw him go under the treadmill, then when he was closing another outlet for pipes etc, he turned around and he was gone. I am pretty sure he is still in the basement. Makes it hard to let Keegan out the back door, I am constantly thinking the little bugger may try to come up the stairs again!

Hey there,

Nothing new on the squirrel front. I am going to a memorial service this morning for one of my employees who passed away in her sleep last Friday. Not sure if I mentioned that last weekend? Her son found her after we made a couple of calls to see why she did not show up for work. She was 72 and in excellent health. I guess you never know.

Time to get ready, then have some breakfast.

Take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Sweat Express II (57 min.).

I hope the squirrel story will have a happy ending. Have your tried a have-a-heart trap? Ply the little sucker with some peanuts and see if he'll go in?

Another inch of rain last night. DH is going crazy about the hayfields, which are so wet.

Sorry about your fellow worker. What was it--heart attack, stroke?

Yep, that is what we have, a Have-a-Heart trap. That is the way we got squirrel #2 out last time. It only took 2 days for that one to be trapped. Not sure what is going on with this one. He must be starving but the peanut butter is not luring him in for some reason.

I don't know why but 72 now seems younger than it would have a few years ago. I'm sorry she died but if I had to go, in my sleep is the preferred method.

I don't know why I put off the lifting. I'll need to do 3 discs tomorrow to catch up.

I've done 9 miles in the walk across America challenge Cathe has. Does anyone else use the workout manager?

Joan

Good morning,

I'm here and so is Mr Squirrel apparently. He has not even attempted to take the PB out of the trap. DH thinks he is gone, I know better. They can get in, but even the exterminator we had for Squirrel #1 said that they have no idea how to get back out. My fear is we will find him dead in the basement, or more likely smell him first. ewwwww...

Garance, they did not tell us what happened to the woman who passed away in her sleep apparently. We are not sure if they did an autopsey, and didn't ask. Most likely her heart. Although she had just had a physical and she was fine.

Joan, good for you for doing that challenge, I have not really looked at those much. I saw that there was a push up one, and knew that was not for me.

Hi to Josie, Cathy, & Valerie.

Take care,

Hi Deb and Joan (and any other posters who show up)--

This morning I did Skinny Sculpt (45 min.).

Deb, maybe you should try a fish oil capsule. Remember our mouse who resisted peanut butter but stole the fish oil every night? Finally caught him with the fish oil in the trap.

Joan, I don't use the workout manager. I just do something 6 days a week and consider that "management."

Finally mastered putting in invisible zippers this morning. Of course, I bought a 34 dollar special foot for doing so for my Bernina. Worth every penny, though, because those plastic feet are worthless and never worked for me.

Usually we have people over for the 4th of July, but this year DH is (surprise! surprise!) haying! I can't wait until this first cut is over, so pray for sun and dry weather for a few days.

I'm back. we went anyway, didn't leave until monday early. did a little mt biking on monday. did a BIG one on tuesday. 13 very tough miles. a light hike on wed, 4 miles RT. tuesday the ride was very difficult, it was hotter than expected and we didn't carry enough water. so fairly exhausted. even drinking a gallon of water was barely enough. trying to keep on watching the calories. didn't even eat much on tuesday, I was so thirsty! went to yoga this morning, and will do something else today, probably the next disk in meso 3.

Lynda, did you like Matchpoint? that was my favorite woody allen movies, I generally don't like his stuff. DH considers "chips" a basic food group so we always have them around. I count so I don't eat too many.
It's still like winter here, raining and gray. east of the mts was sunny and warm but still a lot of snow, way way more still hanging on compared to a normal year. we have another 5 day vacation coming soon and we will not be able to do a backpack as we'd planned.

Deb, good luck with squirrel wrangling. squirrels and chippies are so bold... we had a chippie come right up to us yesterday while we ate a snack at the lake we'd hiked to. Not 5 inches away. I spit out a piece of peanut and he was on it in a second. maybe yours would like some mixed nuts rather than PB?

Joan, good luck on the colonoscopy,. the prep is worse than the procedure itself. I need to repeat one this fall. usually you are on a restricted diet for a 2 days, then a clear liquids only day. try to schedule your procedure for early am so you don't need to spend another half day on clear liquids.

Good morning,

still no squirrel. DH thinks he is gone or dead, since he has been there since Sunday with no food or water. I think he is there hiding. We are going to put a couple of peanuts down, see if they are moved or taken. At least we will know he is still there.

Garance, I think I may put a fish oil capsule in the trap as well. Can't hurt right?

Valerie, I can't imagine you gaining any weight with all you do. How can that be?

A 3 day weekend coming up, Yay!

cathy, if I follow a link to read this thread I can see the pic of the four grandchildren on the bottom left. After I click on reply, they disappear like all the avatars do.

squirrels are pretty resourceful. I'd look carefully. could he be hiding inside the treadmill mechanism? chewed his way into a wall or something? under the stairs?

Ha ha... my family has (apparently) very poor metabolism. brother & sister have diabetes and can't lose weight. they both weigh in the 250 range. I have to work 10x as hard as anyone else. I do not have diabetes though I check occasionally just to be sure. I'll bet the squirrel has the same metabolism and will be just fine after you find him and hasn't lost an ounce... maybe he can go into hibernation mode. Really, squirrels ( at least some kinds) go into a state of torpor during winter so they can survive lean times. not actual hibernation but similar.
