Hi all,

Computer problems again. Using DH's laptop. Just wanted to start the thread for the week. Later,

Hope you get things straightened out Deb. such PITA when the darn things get messed up.

We did Yardmax on saturday. bought and planted 4 big trees and a big shrub. filling in the space left from where we had the huge tree cut down last winter. a fair amount of work, although DH is the shovel person and did much more than I did.

Sunday we went mt biking. tried a new park that turned out to be just OK. Trails were very very wet and muddy . so muddy that some parts weren't ride-able. the mud gets so slippery you can't brake going downhill... the tires slide sideways. uphill, the tires turn but you don't move forward, a very interesting experience! Felt like a waterwheel. interesting learning curve there about what can and can't be done. we wrestled with it for an hour and a half and decided to go back to our favorite park... much nicer trails... on the way back and rode our usual circuit there. it was wetter and muddier than usual there too, but much more ride-able. ended up doing a 3-4 hours of actual riding. DH is getting quite good at this, and I've improved a lot too.

DH is working at least half a day every day this week so it's messing up our activities. has to do some vacation coverage. Today I will do disk 15 and wait on the cardio until I see whether weather will be good enough for street biking this afternoon. It was lovely yesterday after morning showers, got sunny and pleasant, perfect for riding.

Watched the movie Fair Game last night and really liked it. If you didn't follow the lead up to the Iraq war with Niger/yellow cake uranium story and the phony threats of WMD it might be a little hard to follow but an excellent movie. I had read lukewarm reviews of this but thought it was much better than that.

Hi Deb and Valerie--

Yesterday morning I did Rockin' Models (70 min.) and today I did KCM's TLC 47 min. premix, which didn't go very smoothly because she flops back and forth between the two 30 min. workouts, and they are nothing alike. I liked the kickboxing parts, but not so much the conditioning stuff which is pretty repetitive. I wore 2 lb. gloves, which definitely added to the sweat factor.

Valerie, I really followed that story because I'm such a news-nut and was hoping against hope Karl Rove would be found guilty of the leak. Had to settle for Cheney's right-hand creep. Just glad Bush did not pardon him. Also have a good friend working on this story for the NYTimes Washington Bureau, so he would send me news of his investigations. Haven't seen the movie, but I want to. I will put it in my queue.

Crazy wind this weekend. Everything blowing around. At least we are not in tornado alley.

I am now hooked on The Killing on AMC Sunday nights. Really superb police procedural with a long story arc and a great female detective.

That would be scooter libbey... and rove totally walked away from this. they cast someone who looks just like him too!. I didn't have a wait on the movie although it's a fairly new release, maybe because of the lukewarm reviews, which I do NOT understand after watching it. It had a little of a documentary feel to it with some news clip of bush, cheney, "mushroom cloud" rice & gang mingled in. I definitely will watch this a second time in a few months. naomi watts & sean penn are both very good. Not grandstanding but cool, controlled performances which fits the kind of people they were depicting. good quick snappy dialogue but believable. conversations sound real. DH and I both enjoyed this alot. I highly recommend it.

I'll try to get a look at that series. Love good police dramas.

Hope your NY trip is going well Josie...
Joan, don't let the taxes totally bury you.

Off to do disk 15.

Hi all

Still trying to get my computer issues resolved, without having to pay the charge, since I paid them a month ago and the same issue is back.

I did KCM's new Split upper body workout this morning. Liked it a lot. With the w/u p it as 38 minutes. I did pause a couple of times to drink water. She does not stop at all to rest or give a break between sets.

When did that police show start? I would have like to tape it, but too late now I guess.

Have to run, this lap top drives me nuts, takes too long to type anything. I guess it's better than nothing.;)

Deb, so sorry the problem is back Was it a virus? what anti virus software do you run? We've used either mcafee or norton for years with no virus problems. do you think maybe you got re-infected from the same source again? or maybe it was only a partial fix. I'd think whoever fixed this a month ago would guarantee their work for longer. that process involved you staying home from work etc to get it fixed. a real pain. Typing on a laptop is darn near impossible for me. keys are big, weird, not separated enough and I can't get my hands in any kind of reasonable position.

Did my plan yesterday. bike 10 treadmill 30, disk 15 and the Ab section from HR. I did the cardio in the morning, the weights later. we wanted to cycle but it was alternating between rain and partial clearing with more emphasis on the rain. Ok for garden work but not for biking.

Hi Deb and Valerie--

This morning I did Skinny Sculpt (45 min.).

Deb, "The Killing" was on its third episode this week, but they always show the previous week's episode before the new one. DH seems to have a monthly problem with his Office Outlook updates.

Ugly weather here--very cold rain. I'm just thankful it's not snowing.

Starting King Lear today, then a dept. meeting, then a pizza party for incoming majors. I am so ready to retire.

Lynda, looked up "the killing" on netflix and it looks like they will have it, eventually. is it about the police investigation of a missing seattle girl? want to make sure I'm looking for the right series.

Our ugly cold wet weather continues... worst april on record so far and worst spring in decades. people are really whining, me included.

Morning all,

ITread this morning with my girl Grace, still having issues with my computer, trying to solve it with the tech help from the virus software vendor I may have to bite the bullet and pay the $100 for them to do it remotely. What a racket.

Valerie, yes, a malware virus, ugh. We use Webroot, recommended by the tech guys at work, go figure,

Garance, cold and rain here too, the worst spring in years...:(

sorry for the short posts, but this computer drives me nuts!

Good morning,

I made it out alive.:p I slept for 14 hours Monday night and tried to catch up on grocery shopping etc yesterday. I only got in 2 miles but better than nothing.

I use avg as my virus protection and have never had a problem. It is free but you can pay for a "better" program. They brag that they have never had a breach but I don't know if I believe that. All I know is that I have had it for 5 years with no problems.

Joan

Hi Deb, Valerie, and Joan--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63 min.). Tomorrow I will sleep in and go to get my blood work done and the shingles shot.

Last night was exhausting--basically from 2:30-8:30, non-stop college stuff.

Valerie, yes, that is the series. Seattle looks like it's always raining.

Deb, this is a miserable spring, I agree. Yesterday I wore my winter coat again and today it continues to be pretty raw and gray.

Joan, congrats on getting all of those returns in! It must feel good, and now you can go on a vacation.

I had an hour of yoga yesterday am, and did 40 min on the treadmill later in the day. did grocery shopping and decided that was enough.

DH is only working half a day today so we'll try to do a bike ride of some sort. mt biking if it's still cold, or street biking if it warms up enough. sun is out now but DH won't be ready until around 1, so not sure.

It does rain a lot here , generally lightly but often and for a long time. not a lot of hard, heavy downpours, tends to drizzle endlessly. Movies tend to overdo it, going for 'atmosphere". it tends to be cloudy more than most places. and cooler. sometimes I get annoyed but I hate hot humid weather so I live with it. this spring has been way worse than usual, colder and wetter.

I didn't have any side effects from the shingles shot except the site itself was sore and warm for several days after. nothing compared to my bout with shingles though. It's not total protection but anything that helps is worth it.

Hi all,

Well I'm back and virus free, ( for now at least)
banana043.gif

Work, then starting prep for Easter brunch. DH will be doing the grocery shopping today, I need to start cleaning the house. Do you ever ask yourself after you invite people over..." what was I thinking"?

Knee hurts a bit today, I did too much jogging on the Tm yesterday with Grace. Think I will give it a rest before I am sorry.

What is everyone else up to this weekend?

Hi Deb and Valerie--

This morning I did not work out. Went to get my shingles vaccine shot and draw blood. Feel fine--my arm is not even sore.

Let's see. We are going out for dinner on Easter, but that's about it. I noticed all the candy, but have no desire to eat it. I just plain wish the weather would improve. It's blowing like crazy here today, and the temp is barely 40.

A long afternoon with student conferences. A student presentation yesterday was horrible. Every other word out of his mouth was "like." I think I should like tell him, because at some point like he will be going out for like interviews. Don't you like agree?

Deb, I agree on inviting people over. I always feel enthusiastic in conceiving the idea of company, and then dreading the work of preparing the meal. I end up enjoying myself, though.

went to yoga at 7 today, I like the thurs am class better than friday morning but DH is off thurs am and we usually do "something". Well, it was snowing this morning. wet slushy stuff, but snow. so no cycling! blech. yesterday was quite nice, sunny and mild, but I didn't feel good, so only light yard work. feel fine again today so will do 30 on the treadmill plus whatever my next disk is, 15 ? 16?
we have off sat, sun, mon. will probably cycle one day. snowshoe on monday. the downhill ski areas are (mostly) closing down after sunday, due to lack of interest rather than lack of snow. there's more snow than there's been all year up there now. sunday sounds the least good for outdoor stuff, but we try to do some outdoorsy thing while most of the population is eating hard boiled eggs and marshmallow peeps. so no entertaining or family things going on here. we have a long weekend the next week ... 5days... or else we would go somewhere for the 3 days.

Yes... it's as if "like" is the new "ummm" . Drives me crazy. I want to wash out their mouth with, LIKE, soap. I'd LIKE that.

My arm got a warm spot that lasted for several days from the vaccination. not sore but a red warm spot. Glad I got it though.

Good morning all!

I thought it was the weekend, until I realized it wasn't Saturday...duh...I have today off, forgot. No
worksucks.gif
for me!! Yay.

Dog show,
grommit.gif
grommit.gif
working most of the day there, then home, lost of

to get the house ready for Sunday.

Later...

Did my plan yesterday, 1 hr fairly tough yoga in the am, 35 treadmill, and disk 16. I guess this will need to be the norm if I want to lose weight. I'm hungry all the time but nothing is happening.

Watched "The Fighter" sunday night. Really did not enjoy this one. guess it was well made and well acted but really did not strike a chord with us. Boxing is an idiotic activity/sport to me to begin with, and I really didn't care what happened to anyone regardless of the strategy they use to knock each other out. No reason to like anyone in it.

Deb, 3 day weekends are nice.. we usually have sat, sun, mon and I've gotten quite fond of it. rather have monday than friday off because outdoor things are less busy on monday.

my mother called last night. talking mostly about my train wreck sister. she shredded both her shoulders ( rotator cuffs) and has had arthroscopic surgery on both but apparently is doing nothing yet. the first surgery was I believe last November, the second was more recent. but good grief, I don't understand why she is not being "rehabbed". sounds like she's sitting on her butt. she hasn't even driver since the first surgery but is relying on everyone else to taxi her around. we are so different. I don't know what she's thinking!

Good morning,

Valerie I can't imagine not doing the rehab. I have had a lot of clients get knee replacement. Everyone that doesn't do the rehab (or not keep up with it) complains about the operation. All the others consider it a miracle. And of course it is the doctor that gets blamed not themselves.

I've got a sore shoulder today. I had to mow our neighbor's and our yard yesterday and the grass was long and wet. I had to restart the mower about every row. It started raining at 7pm and is supposed to rain the whole week. I'm glad I'm leaving Sunday.

Garance, Maybe you could tape the student and let him hear himself. Perhaps he doesn't recognize what he is saying.

I put off going to the bank, PO, and library until today. Just realized it's Good Friday and everything will be closed. At least there's tomorrow before we leave.

Joan

Hey Joan, glad you're back up from under a sea of tax returns. You're 100% correct on the rehab ... the biggest complainers are usually the ones who refuse to do the least little thing to help recover.

I never had shoulder issues, but I did need an ACL replacement. I started my rehab sunday morning after friday surgery. and I was chomping at the bit to do it. so I DO NOT get it. I KNOW everyone gets rehab after these procedures, along with "home work" to do between sessions. the only difference is how much rehab each person needs. REALLY.... surgery in November and she still can't drive? Bet her car won't start after sitting this long. she has a raft of other health issues.. many (not all) are her own fault.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Deb, Valerie, and Joan--

This morning I did double KCM Bootcamp Circuit (55 min.).

Deb, pretty soon you will communicate solely by smilies and develop a whole new language: Deblish.

Oh, I am pretty sure he doesn't hear himself, but you would think maybe his parents would have said something to the dude? He is a junior, so I would think by now someone would inform him. Too late to record him, but I do plan on taking him aside. Maybe it was just nerves, because his presentation was pretty lacking in substance, while three others were polished and substantial.

Another class on King Lear this afternoon. So much to discuss.

Have a great weekend everyone!
