I've wondered about that too. I certainly don't want it to progress to osteoporosis but the push to Rx with potentially dangerous side-effects for an osteopenia dx instead of promoting more natural ways to combat it is troublesome. My previous provider's strong push made me wonder if she was getting a kickback. When I had severe pain, she just wanted me to put up with it, even though I told her I was up pacing through the night with the pain. My oldest sister's osteoporosis dx is due to her Rx of corticosteroids to combat her autoimmune diseases, so that's why her bone loss is so severe.It does make you wonder whether the osteopenia isn't just something we have to deal with as we age because threshold for dx is so easy to meet.
So agree! But your dentist will strongly urge you to not take it!They do NOT adequately warn of the side effects with fosamax, etc.
