Orthoscopic surgery

Has anyone had orthoscopic surgery on their knee? I was wondering because I went to PT and they said They think it is best to have that surgery. I go back to the orthopedic surgeon on Monday to see what he is going to do for my knee since it is still swollen and in pain.

Yep, it's relatively easy compared to some procedures. It's outpatient. My parents drove me home and I snoozed the anesthesia off most of the afternoon. I think I was on crutches for a few days, although the doc wanted me to start putting weight on it the next day. Had to avoid stairs for a while. Also had some PT post surgery.

I had it 20 years ago (whew that makes me feel old!). I had to stay overnight only because I was in college in the dorms and there wasn't a family member to take care of me. I used crutches for 3 days. The recuperation time is very minimal compared to other surgeries and I'm sure it is even better than it was way back then.

how does your knees feel now after you had the procedure? my knee right now is killing me and making it so hard to walk up and down stairs. I will find out Monday what the doctor wants to do.

In my case, it was exploratory surgery. They didn't have MRIs "back in the day". I had the procedure where the inject dye into your knee and then x-ray. Showed an 80% chance of a torn meniscus. So off to surgery we went. Turns out there wasn't anything they could do surgically to fix the knee. I think I'm not the the norm tho. I'm sure now they could have seen with an MRI that it was not torn cartilage at all causing the problems.
