one arm weaker

I have been doing the biceps and triceps dvd and noticed with one of the tricep exercises one arm is much weaker than the other. When doing the one where you lay on the bench with arms bent and elbows up and bringing the weight down and back up my left arm goes to complete failure while my right arm could keep going forever. I mean after a few reps I absolutly can not raise the weight anymore. Is this normal? What is weird I had shoulder surgery on my right shoulder about 3 years ago, they thought I had torn a muscle but was only an impingment or arthritis or something and they ground something down and it is perfect now. My left shoulder has the same little pain as my right one had but not to bad and I don't intend to go through surgery for it. I can do dips and everything else with no problem, its just that one exercise. Should I go with a lighter dumbell with that one arm till it builds up or just do an extra set with a light dumbell and just that arm.

I think everyone has a weaker side. My left is, too. I would do the left to exhaustion with the heavier weight and then add an extra set with a lighter weight. Do it again to exhaustion. I believe Cathe has talked about this in various posts where you just need to put more focus on the weaker arm w/ more sets. Dumbbells are great for this purpose.
