NOV. 08 CHECKIN !!! Election Day Tues. 4th !!!

Howdy All and Good Tuesday morning!

Just think by tomorrow all the political ads will be no more --- YAY! Seriously I'm so tired of the ads on TV and radio it ain't funny. LMAO

Anyways I have planned The Kettlebell Way for this am.

We did the early voting to avoid the massive crowds the media says will be going on this day.

Just getting us started hopefully I can BBL for personals - so I can read yesterday's thread and see what I missed .

Whoa gotta run!

Good Morning!

Just a quick "Hi" while I wait for my kids to stop fighting long enough so I can go bring my Election Day breads and VOTE....

Yep, I will not miss the political ads and dirt digging at all

My workout today is day #2 of Cathe's Nov Rotation: GS: Legs. Ohhhh . I'm not looking forward to it, but feel challenged all at the same time! I will do it later AM, after my vote ...

Might add in a cardio too

Hey Vilma...!! ... Your workout sounds good for the day! Enjoy and let us know how it goes. Hey, are you missing Cathe at all? Or are you enjoying the break and the variety?

BBL!!!!

Hi Vilma and Chris and all that follow!

Vilma, have fun with your kettlebells. My Lauren Brooks DVD came, but I haven't gotten a kettlebell yet. I think I'm a bit intimidated about learning them on my own.

Chris, I know, I'm kind of dreading and looking forward to GS Legs tomorrow, too.

The kids are all off school today and I'm off work. DH is busy doing some things with his dad, so I'm dreading getting them all dressed and dragging them with me to go vote. Hopefully there won't be a big line. I have tons of errands to run, too.

I finally decided to do Cathe's November rotation, although I'm substituting a bit. I love Cathe to death, but I think I need a bit of a change. I have so many other DVDs that are gathering dust. Instead of GS back, biceps and shoulders I did Kelly Coffey-Meyers 30-minutes to fitness biceps, triceps and shoulders. I also did an old CIA video. It was a really fun kickboxing workout with Debbie Burns. I need to add more cardio to combat all this evil candy hanging out at my house!

Gotta go feed the kids...

Hi All! Well, I had a long reply almost all the way typed in last night when our power went out. I should have known better -- it kept going out all afternoon. I'll see if I can remember everything....

Vilma, I just did a light, random thing with kbells yesterday since my pinkies are sore and I'm headed to see Tracy today. I'll tell her about her NC blog fan.

Joanne, Caitlyn must be so happy to be back at school with her friends -- that's terrific, and so amazing! On the kettlebells -- I was paranoid, too, obviously, so I did sign up for some sessions with Tracy. I have definitely learned stuff, but I also think my form was good enough that I wasn't going to injure myself (well, except my pinkies! (-:). I would imagine that with all the dvds you've done, even though kbells are different, you probably have developed pretty good instincts for good form. When you get the kbell, try some swings and just see how it goes.

Chris, that story about the mother and child at your school is so very sad.

Hottie, your avatar is beautiful. Fun to go to Cathe's gym, eh? It was not crowded at all when I was there in July for the road trip -- sure hope all that nice equipment gets more use in the rest of the year! Oh, not snowing here -- not cold enough. We had a nice bit of rain though. 46 degrees when I woke up this morning.

Oh.... I also had a question for you GS fans..... as I've complained about before, it has a big dread factor for me because 1) I hate three day splits -- it just doesn't seem expedient somehow and 2) the legs dvd freezes in my player, so I have to haul out the laptop my hubby wants next to his bed. I can overcome the 2nd problem easily enough, and yesterday I may have found a solution for the first. I noticed that both of the upper body dvds have timesaver premixes that are just over a half hour. I think I'm going to try putting those together on one day. Has anyone ever done that? Viola..... back to a two day split! :)

I did some pilates this morning in anticipation of the kbell session. Oh, we voted absentee -- I sure hope they're counted! When we got done I saw the instructions said don't use a sharpee or anything that might bleed through. Guess what we used?! And as Larry was taking the stub off the top, he ripped the ballot! So, who knows......

Ok, there's chaos out in the kitchen.... better go......

Good morning!!

Ahem: VOTEVOTEVOTEVOTEVOTEVOTE!!!!!

Okay, got that out. :)

So, DH is still very sick which I frankly didn't anticipate on so I have to rearrange my schedule a bit. We had wanted to vote when the polls opened and then go into work but since everything got screwy my new schedule was to start my experiments early, go to the school gym while some things were incubating, come back, log in my data, finish the rest of my experiments, and then leave in mid-afternoon to come home and vote which is at the school walking distance from my house. I'm pretty worried about my husband because he just doesn't know how to take care of himself (like, I dunno...remembering to eat!) but I stayed home all yesterday doing stuff and I can't put off any more work. So, busyish day.

Personals!!!

Vilma -- are you in a swing state? Being in CA pretty much means I get deluged with prop ads, not so much presidential ones. But that's what my DVR is for. :) Have fun with KBs!

Chris -- have fun at the voting place! GS legs looks killer (its the only one I haven't done because my DH falling over has sort of intimidated me -- but it looks like it really works you).

Joanne -- that sounds great how you're mixing it up. I hope there isn't too long of a line at the voting place.

Beth -- I like the timesavers of the two GS DVDs I've done a lot. The idea of putting in an hour for all of the GS series is intimidating to me too. I can't say that I've done what you're suggesting and DH tends to do MM or the 4DS upper body premix but it sounds like its definitely worth a shot. Since you know where Cathe's gym is, my parents' home is so close to it, its not funny. But I only stayed near the front but I thought it was bigger than the Bally's near where I live in LA.

Ok, just realized I screwed up one part of an experiment because I didn't prep it right last night...I guess that means I can leave earlier for voting...

Woohoo! I got through GS: LEGS! OMG.. that is a killer workout, isn't it???? I definitely have a love/hate relationship with that ball. I do like the band work though. It burns, but I like it for some reason...

Joanne: Hope you don't run into lines voting. I went at 8am-ish and there was no waiting. Hubby went at 10am-ish and didn't wait either.

for doing the Nov Rotation with us! I probably will sub a few too. Definitely not doing Cardio Kicks tomorrow. I'll do a TJ instead. Following the generalness of it and doing Cathe most of the time, though. Good plan!

Beth: Oh I hate when a long message gets eaten for whatever reason!! Yes, I'm not so excited about the 3 day split, with less cardio than I like, too. but I'm going to try to add in cardio on the weight days as time permits. I think your plan is great! doing the timesavers together! Brilliant!

Hottie: Hope your day gets better. It sounds a bit chaotic!! Hope hubby gets better too. Men, I tell ya. they are so helpless... Yes, GS: LEgs is very tough. I can get through the weight work with a few moans and groans (w/the low/slow lunges and the 15 low ends on inner thighs!), but the ball puts me over the edge. I really struggle to do all the reps, and I don't always get there with them either. But working to exhaustion is what counts, right?

Hubby and ALL the boys are home today, oh, plus my 13 year old's friend. Lots of testosterone floating around here.... I might head out to do some leaves later for my cardio. It's gorgeous, sunny and 60 out!

See ya later, gators!

Hi ladies...

Just finished working out and showering...I did Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme today in place of cardio kicks...I haven't done Amy's workout yet and wanted to try it. I liked it alot..My legs are feeling GS legs alot in the hammies...Getting ready to head out and VOTE!! Hubby got up this morning early and went and lucky it took him 5 minutes..No lines. It pays to vote in a smaller area...I hope I am in and out in 5 minutes too...

Anyway, I will try to get back on the computer later. But, hubby is working at home at my computer desk!!! So, not sure if that will happen. We are also going to Olive Garden tonight for dinner. Hope I can control my eating..

Hello Ladies,

WOW! Talk about HARD STEPPING! Today after having this DVD for 3 yrs and trying it today for the first time it was HARD! This stepping is so confusing, but it seemed fun!! The DVD I’m talking about is Seasun Zieger The Next Step. I never got to finish it because I got so much in my mind. I have an interview to be a Nursery Coordinator and I’m so nervous!!!! I don’t have to for personals right now and don’t know if I will later because DH is coming home early to watch the kids for my interview and now my good friend is having problems. I hope you all have a great workout and day! I’ll BB tomorrow since I have nothing to do tomorrow.

I’ll miss you guys!

Hottie: You are so pretty!! It’s good to see you!!!

Back....... Ivy, hats off to you for doing the hard step -- I'm assuming it was the choreography that was hard, right? I give up on those! :) Good luck with the interview!!

Hottie, when you asked Vilma if she lives in a swing state I had to laugh because I thought you were asking some kettlebell question. :) I want to go check on results in a minute. I think I care more about prop 8 than anything else -- I feel like the presidential one is sort of wrapped up, but I'm worried about 8.

Ok, so after my session with Tracy, this week's tip is on one-handed swings. I just wasn't getting them -- felt uncoordinated and had no rhythm. She made me concentrate on the downstroke, and just let the up happen -- I finally got into the groove. She had me do so many of them!!! And that is my homework. Alternating between one and two handed swings. I was really hoping to get to snatches today, but because I needed more work on those one-handed, we never got to it.

Helloooooo!!! Just voted. Feel so filled with...hope. It's insane how giddy I feel. There were lines but I was just so thrilled that there were.

Thanks for all the kind words about my pic -- I'm pretty shy about how I look. And that's one of only a handful of photos my husband took of me that looks ok! (He's so bad at photography) And I believe the correct word you all are looking for is "hottie" to describe the pic. ROFLOLOL!! Oh, I couldn't even type that without chuckling.

Chris -- you like the bands, eh? Both DH and I go groan when its band work time. I end up laughing though in the middle of the reps because of how it feels. That probably doesn't help my form! I hope you're having fun with everyone home!

Beth -- LOL about the swing states. Yes, prop 8 was particularly important to me. I had to spend a fair bit of time convincing people to vote no on it last night. The parental notification one concerned me too though I was looking through it going, didn't we vote on this before?? But there are lines all over LA...and the blue parts...so either way, I'm just glad the turnout is so great.

Ivy -- good luck on the interview! Keeping you in my thoughts!

Kathy -- yummy on the Olive Garden. My whole lab is filled with Italians (like immigrants from Italy) and they won't even let me mention the name. It's funny -- when people say things like, oh my husband is having the computer all day, I laugh to myself a bit. My husband and I are just starting out but we do NOT do the sharing of the computers well. We've always had at least 2 if not three. I think I'd smack my husband if he took my precious Net away from me.

Now off to be glued to the TV for election results...

Hottie, I imagine in southern ca there are probably more yes on 8ers than in the SF bay area, and yet still, a street I drive every day is littered with the yes on 8 signs and I just get sooooo angry every time I drive by them. This is really about the constitution but apparently many people don't see it that way. I think we have voted on parental notification at least once before, but the wording is different, of course......

-Beth
