Suggestions for Topics

I have really enjoyed the articles you have shared not only lately but also in the past.

Because you are not busy enough with the new series ;), here are a few things I would love to have more information on:

  • Stretching – Why it is important during and after your workout and the benefits of including stand along stretching workouts in your rotation.
  • Massage – Why it is important, ways to self-massage (especially use and techniques for using a foam roller) and the benefits of periodic professional massage (I’m hoping to convince DH I need one every few months :D).
  • Recovery Periods – Different types and examples of each (complete rest-no workouts what-so-ever versus active with what forms of activty), why they are important, and how often to take one.
  • Supplements – In addition to protein powder, are there any other supplements worth the cost? There has been a lot of talk about creatine, glutamine, carnitine, and CLA in particular.
  • Clean Eating – What is it and why do it? Specifically, does eating all-natural foods make a big difference? Do chemicals (artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, etc) affect the body negatively? Do certain natural foods have proven benefits for helping with physical activity or life in general? Do certain natural foods harm your progress towards maintaining an active lifestyle?
  • Cross Training – You have touched on this before but maybe go in to more detail about why incorporating all forms of activity is beneficial to overall health and for “shocking your body.” I have seen some blogs on the internet in which people think only doing cardio or only doing heavy weight training is the way to go. I am specifically interested in something I heard about how heavy weight training thickens your artery walls but cardio helps loosen them up (hope I got that right ).

Please do with these what you want. I would completely understand if you did not write on certain topics (or on any of my suggestions) given your comfort level.

Thanks for everything you do!

Another Newsletter Topic Suggestion

It seems many of us here on the forums are in our 40s and beyond, and fast approaching that dreaded time in a woman's life - menopause. For some of us, this means weight becomes harder to shift and for those of us who won the genetic lottery for a tendency to accumulate fat in our midsection during this time of our lives, the fun really begins. What can we do to remain motivated to exercise and eat right when nothing we do seems to budge the dreaded middle aged spread?
