My boys and Plyo Legs

My 10 yo is done with basketball for this year and the two of them (10 & 7) don't start baseball practice until April, so this afternoon I took them downstairs and we did some things with the bands for upper body. Only the basic moves as they didn't get their coordination from me. ;) Then I was having them do some cardio drills and decided to pop in the first plyo legs workout. They loved it! I flipped through the menu and chose things that didn't use weights. Too cold to play outside much and this is going to work out really well. They really need to burn off some of that energy!

Thanks so much for creating STS. I'm loving it, my DH is sort of doing it and now the boys, too. :)

Cathy-I'm starting my older DS on plyo and some weights next week after his basketball season is all over.

How old is he? My boys got their size genes from me and my 10 yo has yet to hit 60 lbs and he's just over 4' tall, so I really don't feel comfortable having him use weights yet. My 7 yo finally passed the 40 lb mark. LOL He made the 10U baseball club along with the older one and it's going to be fun watching him out there with all the big kids. Skills wise he's there, size wise not so much. ;)

Cathy, my older DS is "there" both with size AND skill! He just turned 11 in October, is about 5'1" tall (just 4 inches shorter than ME) and weighs about 135!!! He's always been on the top end of the growth chart, since the day he was born so I'm not all that much worried about his weight, but I WILL admit to some worry about it. He has the natural athletic ability that everybody talks about. He was hitting pitched balls at 2.5 (I've got it on film and it's so funny how he wacks that ball right back at us). He's always made the all-star teams and every travelling team he's tried out for....baseball, basketball, etc, and has always played up one level from his own age group. We are now learning to play racquetball (went today to goof around) and the men at the gym today were commenting to me about his "natural flow" as they called it.

ANYWAY.....

....this past Fall he was going to PT for some shoulder pain and they HIGHLY suggested that he do weight work and cardio, especially considering his size! So he will be pumping iron next week!

(sorry to ramble.....you know how we moms get about our kids! lol)

Well he's taller than me by 4" and weighs what I did when I was very pregnant. LOL He should do just fine with the weights!
