LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-02 AT 05:50PM (Est)[p]I need some advice from the educated crowd. My right knee hurts whenever I perform lunges or sometimes do a step video. It is not all the time, but it happens frequently enough for me to ask. It mainly gives me pain when I do lunges. I have not been using the amount of weight that I am capable of using because I do not want to make the problem worse. I also am very cautious that I use proper form, do not go too low into the lunge, and do not extend past my knees. Would wrapping my knee while weight training help?

Hi kristi,
First let me say, I am by no means an expert on the subject, but I experience pain in my knees if I do several days of high impact stuff--running,step and sometimes even doing leg work.

I have found for me that if I where knee braces on any leg workouts, and if Im going to do something like IMax it makes a huge diff in how my knees feel afterwards. I forget what brand they are, but they just slide on and feel very snug. I also started take Glucosemine sp? about 6 months ago, and that has also helped--but it will take a little while before you feel results from that.

Ive also learned that sometimes I just cant do all the high impact moves I would like to do! Thats a sucky reality of my life!!!

Anyway, hope that helps some

Thank you Jayne F for your advice. I also think that a knee brace will help support my knee and stabilize it. Just like you I have been trying to watch how my knee reacts with high impact moves especially plyometric moves or jumps. I'm only 27 and I want to avoid injury at any cost. I've heard that doing squats and lunges will help to strengthen the area.

Thanks again for your help!! :) :)
