Hello all!

Glad to be back in NYC. I haven't been able to log on since the blackout and my sister's pc was on the blink. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm all excited - the high step pre-orders - what a sight to come home to!! I happened to be at the San Diego Zoo last week when the first panda was born - how fun was that!!! The entire zoo is phenominal. Our Bronx Zoo is great, but San Diego's is awesome!!!

Will catch up later and hopefully will be able to post some pics from my trip.

Take care all - glad to be home!!!

Welcome back!

I've heard that the San Diego zoo is totally awesome as well as D.C.s zoo. I hope to go see both one day. Glad to "see" ya!

Thank you Kristi. I was just looking over some of the pics from Cathe's new series - they look awesome - can't wait to get mine!!!

Take care

Iris

Hi :)

I was at the zoo a month ago, and had no idea that a Panda was being born! How exciting!! I did get to see one Panda, though, who was a total ham. She was hilarious... and I think she knew she was putting us into hysterics. The whole crowd was in trouble because we were laughing too loudly. :D She finally walked off when she was doing acrobatics on a not-so-secure tree branch and fell into the water. The poor girl was embarrassed and wouldn't come back. Soooo sweet.

San Diego is fantastic, I think. I will be moving there in a few months to go to school and start a new life. I can't wait! Though I'm sure I will miss my small town and the clean air. But if I'm going to move to a city, San Diego is the one for me. Welcome back online!

Hi Sara,

Panda's are so wonderful. I didn't "see" the pandas, but we knew something was going on especially when we entered their area and we were all told to be very, very quiet. The koalas were simply sooo very cute and barely hanging on to their branches while they slept. I took many pictures of all the beautiful animals I saw. I will post them once I have them developed... I need a digital camera!!!!

If you haven't been to Balboa Park, Old Towne or Seaport Village - I recommend them highly. I love San Diego too - There so much to see and do in this town, not to mention that driving to Tia Juana is great! My niece works at Viejas Casino - what a blast you will have there!!!

Good luck on your move to San Diego.

Take care,

Iris

Hey :) Thanks so much... I think living there will be fantastic. Expensive, but fantastic. I, too, have tons of pictures of my zoo-time. I am having computer problems, or they would've been up a long time ago :( I haven't been to any of the places you've mentioned, so I'll put them on my list. I'm going back in two weeks to prepare for the move.

Can't wait for the pictures!
Sara

P.S... are you going to have them recorded to disc when you develop them? My cousin did this for our Italy trip, and it is well worth the xtra cost. Super easy to get online!

Hi Sherry! Thanks hon - how are you and your new granddaughter???

We didn't see the baby panda since mommy was at some other location. The panda experts were telling us that because of the very long gestation period and very long labor that pandas go through, they are moved to a quiet and undisclosed area - not necessarily the zoo. I believe they said somewhere at Sea World where they have the facilitieis for this type of birth.

I just love San Diego. I'm missing my sister very much. And dang it if I can't convince her to come to NYC for a visit - stubborn latina women!! UFFFF. LOL. But the best moment was when I arrived at Lindburgh and she didn't recognize me. I realize its been two years since we've seen each other, but I was able to spot her immediately. I just stood there - right in front of her and she didn't know me until I said in spanish - "No me conoces??" "Don't you recognize your big sister??" It was priceless to see her reaction and I owe it all to Cathe, eating clean and this wonderful forum!!

Take care Sherry!

Iris

:D

Aw, Iris! How awesome you must look if your own sister didn't even recognize you! Don't forget, you really owe it all to yourself for making the postive changes you've made in your lifestyle!:D It sounds like you should post a before and after picture!
My best friend lives in San Diego. It is such a beautiful city. I would love to live there, but the cost of living is outrageous.
If you can't get your sister to come to NYC, I'd be more than happy to oblige!;) I think I've only been to three other states other than the one I live in.;( Soon to be four though - I get to go see my granddaughter at the end of September.:) She's already gaining weight. My daughter said that Isobel is up every two hours at night to nurse. I'm soooo glad I'm the gramma and not the mom!:7

Sherry - I will post the before and after pics - promise! I look at some of those pics and totally freak out - that was another person!!

Be careful what you wish for - wanna trade your hot Arizona weather for a freezing, cold winter in the Big Apple? Whenever you are in my neighborhood - just holler - I'll be more than happy to be your personal tour guide. I know what you mean about San Diego - such a great city. In comparing with NY - they are about the same in certain areas and less expensive in others. My sister has a great 2 bedroom/2bath apartment in a very nice complex, with a gym, pool, etc. and pays less rent than I - go figure. Transit cost is about the same - $2.00 in NY - $1.75 and higher in SD if you are transferring to the .

I'm so happy Isobel is gaining weight - you must be so proud and I'll bet you can't wait to see her. When you do - don't forget the pics.

Take care,

Iris
