I am totally in love with Cathe!!!

Ok, well I am new to this whole complex choreography thing. So after I got a Cathe tape, I got (in addition to additional Cathe tapes) a tape with Franny Benedetto and one by Christi Taylor.

Well, those look like a lot of fun, but you know something? Cathe has totally spoiled me!!!! That girl can break down a routine so well you don't realize you're doing anything complicated! And she actually choreographs ARM MOVEMENTS - my new pet peeve is that a lot of instructors pay no attention to the arm movements! That can make a difference between a boring warm-up and a really entertaining one! And Cathe has such a warm personality! I will enjoy other instructors I'm sure but I think Cathe is as good as it gets.

Strangely enough, the tape that prepared me best for Cathe is Susan Powter's Burn Fat and Get Fit. Ok, I know it sounds crazy but it's true. Susan uses lots of big arm movements CONTINUOUSLY throughout her tapes, like Cathe does, and those are so hard to do when you're out of shape I think they helped me get ready for Cathe.

Ok, I've rambled on long enough about Cathe! I just want to say I can see why everyone loves her videos. And she seems like she would be so nice and personable in person too.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

When I wandered over to this site I was a total FIRMIE! I just wanted to pick up a COUPLE of cardio videos to supplement my FIRM workouts. The only Firms I've used since November last year were: Super Cardio, Volume 1 and Cardio Burn. Sporadically.
It's all been Cathe...and I want more!!! It's amazing how she can make me go through RS and not fall over the step. It's all in the cueing! Plus the fact that she isn't too perky helps. Love her DVDs and her customer service!

I agree, Cathe does spoil you for other instructors!

Sure, here and there I find some workouts that are "okay," but they NEVER compare to Cathe.

p.s. Kay, do you still check out the diettalk site? If so, I'm wondering if you'd like to help me "buddy up" with a woman named Jenn. Her user name is Sweet_Jenn, and she's currently at 320lbs and interested in beginning with videos. She has only a Richard Simmons video she's starting with, and I haven't mentioned Cathe yet, but I told her I have some intermediate workouts I'd like to send her to add to her weekly workout. She seems really hopeful about losing, and if wanting counts for anything, she'll do it! I thought I would invite her over to this site to check it out (wink, wink) and then once we get her over here, we can drag her into the weight loss check in, and before she knows what hit her, we'll have her "Cathe bound!" :)

Hi Donna:
Hope I'm not evesdropping on your conversation about Jenn, but I still have most of my old videos. Do you think she would take some Denise Austins? What do you think about Fat Burning Blast for her? It's low impact, and the aerobic section is 20 min. I can mail them to you or her. Let me know what you think!

Dawn............

That is sooooooo sweet! :)
And no you're not eavesdropping :)

I'm waiting to hear back from her on adding new workouts. So far she only has Richard Simmons, and she's afraid she may not be able to get through that, so I don't want to scare her, but she's really excited about video workouts, so I'm going to try and get her to check out our little family here at Cathe and then we can all help get her "prepared for Cathe!"

RE: Dawn............

Hello Donna,

Another evesdopper here. I have three girlfriends with whom I workout with once a week. One of them is about 325lbs. and one of the best videos we have found to do together is one by Kathy Smith called, Functionally Fit. It offers 3 levels: Non-impact, low, and high. The coreography is simple yet very good and throughout the workout it will have what she calls BLASTS ( intervals really and qutie managable). I think I bought mine at Target for about $15. Good luck. I am so impressed with your heart and with your success.

Deb....

Thank you for that video tip! :)

I will make that suggestion to her, it sounds like one she'll be able to grow with since she's a beginner. :)

Hey Donna ...

I only check out diettalk now and then, but I would love to help get someone started on videos. We should not mention to her the amount of time we spend working out, it might scare her off. :) I used to roll my eyes at people who wrote reviews complaining that such-and-such was only a 45-minute workout.

I will go scan the messages over there, but let me know if there is a certain forum you're talking to her in.

P.S., sorry for my slow reply, I had a big Poli Sci test today (got a B :-().

That should be..............

"Yayyyyyyy~ I got a B!"

An "A" is admirable, but a "B" is beautiful! :)

Can you tell my recently graduated daughter was not a "straight A" student!? I had to comfort her with lines like that all the time! :)

Besides~you'll get the "A" next time, everyone knows that exercise increases mental alertness, so as your body is getting fitter, so is your mind! :)
