How would you classify Plyo Legs in STS?

Hi everyone! I am hoping the smart folks in this forum can help me figure something out. How would you classify the Plyo Legs workouts in Meso 3 of STS? Are they Hiit? Are they Metabolic Hiit? Strength? Just Metabolic? I know my heart rate gets into the anaerobic range during some of the workout and it certainly stays high throughout but I wasn't sure exactly how to classify these workouts. That said, do you think adding an additional day of just strength for my legs would be overkill and/or messing up the STS program's integrity? Any advice is always appreciated. Thank you!

Christin - I always do both plyo legs and squat rack legs during meso #3. They have such a different feel that it doesn't seem like overkill. I then add a hiit, and one other w/o of whatever I fancy during the week. Like you, I'm never quite sure how to classify them.

ITA with Justine! I did both Plyo Legs and Squat Rack Legs during Meso 3 and I was fine...well, more than fine: my strength gains were fantastic and I developed great tone!

Thanks ladies! I am a little nervous to do Squat Rack Legs only because I don't have anyone to spot me and, while I am able to load the bar up heavy (yay!!!), I don't trust my ability to do it safely by myself. That said, does Cathe have another Legs/Lower Body workout that you'd recommend for strength that I could do instead? I subscribe to her OnDemand so I'd have access to anything you'd recommend. I'd especially love to do one that focuses on the booty. I'm working on getting one of those.... ;)

You can't go wrong with Butts & Guts. I love that workout. Cathe doesn't always go heavy in that, but you can adjust your weight to fit your needs. I love the floor work and a great ab work as well. Another one for mostly glutes would be Great Glutes. I find that I get the most booty work during the disc and floor work.

You could still do the deadlifts from Squat Rack....they're pretty safe without a spotter. If you then did the hip thrusts / glute bridges from Xtrain (100 rep challenge), that would be a great 'enhancer'.
Other ideas are :
Bonus Butt Workout which Cathe put together for the Rock Bottoms rotation (I wonder if she'd consider doing a live BBW???)
Anything with firewalkers, but put the band around your feet, rather than ankles, and you'll get your gluteus medius nice and fried
High step stuff - putting the step plenty high enough to ensure it's your glutes firing, not quads. I need one more riser than Cathe, since I'm tall.

Best of luck!

Slow & Heavy legs + 100 rep challenge hip thrusts! That would be my sub for STS squat rack.

Well, I just got my butt handed to me by Butts & Guts' Overall Legs premix. WHEW, that was a humbling experience! I see the little 5 pounders and am like, pssshh, I'll use 15s or 20s. HA! I had planned on doing the 100 rep hip thrust challenge as an add-on but, seeing as I was totally jelly-legged, I think I will wait until next time. :) Can't wait to try the rest of the suggestions you all have given me! What are your thoughts on Great Glutes? I have that DVD but have not done it before. Happy Friday to everyone, by the way!

I'm doing Great Glutes in about an hour. I think it's a great overall for hamstrings, inner thighs, and mostly the butt. I esp. like the discs and the floor work. The floor work really gets in there because it's really high reps. I'm glad Cathe put that in as the last segment. I also like the calves because she adds weights. The first time I did the dvd, I used a green firewalker loop for the hamstrings and thought my hamstrings were going to snap in half later that day, so I use a pink one because for me it really gets in there good. I'm glad you enjoyed butts and guts, I love that one. Another oldie but goodie is Legs and Glutes, but I mostly feel that one in my inner thighs for some reason, but it also had great premixes.
