How to Master Tricep Dip with Leg Extension in Turbo Barre

ilovefitness

Cathlete
Hi,

I can do tricep dips no problem. However, I find myself wobbling if I try to do tricep dip with leg extension. I also cannot reach the ankle, only to the thigh without wobbling too much.

Just wondering if anyone can give out any pointer on this exercise. Thanks.

I like the one in Athletic Training better since you use the step and a disc. Sometimes I just to the leg extension but don't try to touch me foot.

I always thought just Cathe was doing the tricep dip with leg extension??:) Just kidding:D If an exercise is awkward or I can't do them, I just don't them. Sometimes I have to build up to those exercises. For the longest time I couldn't do push ups on my toes, now I do all my push ups on my toes.

Hey,

Thanks! I need to dig out my Athletic Training DVD. I think with the step, it's more doable. Thanks for jogging my memory on this! I forgot about it.

Hello,

Just as Belinda quoted when we can't execute some exercises properly with good form, there is high possibility of building up abilities. In this case, based on your explanation, your core and possibly your glutes did let you down;)
Core and glute need to be very isolated/engaged. In this case the leg extension add the balance challenge to
the move. You rely very much on core , hip and glute strength.

Nathalie,

Thanks!!!!! I think in this case it could be due to my core. I go wobbling when I try to reach. I will modify the move and gradually build up from there. Thanks for pointing out the weaknesses. I appreciate it!!! My triceps are fairly strong, so I think it's the core issue.

Yes it's mainly your core. I agree.
Glutes are minimally assisting as your hip connect upper and lower.
Just build up and you could be amazed how quickly you would improve.

I like your post...It made me think!!:):)

Hey Nathalie,

Thanks. Appreciate it! :) I've been training with Cathe for a long while. Thanks to posters like you that can help support Catheletes on this forum. I am thoroughly amazed at how Turbo Barre can be quite challenging without using any weights, except own body weight.

On the Tricep Dip with Leg Extension, I notice the dip is not very deep...almost non-existent. In this vid, the pace is faster. I usually just do a dip and try to balance and touch my knee cap instead. Thanks!

You are welcome.
Turbo can be deceiving. I did four weeks rotation of turbo/once per week.
At the end of the cycle I was happy cause I could do the main program without pausing.
It is not as easy as I might look:rolleyes:o_O
