Anybody know any home remedies or any kind of advice to help get rid of bags under the eyes & dark circles around the eyes?

I have these dark circles around my eyes, that i've had since i was a kid. And i know there has to be some kinda way to get rid of these bags & circles w/o gettn cosmetic surgery.

Does anybody have any suggestions??

Does lots of concealer count as a home remedy?!;-) Seriously, though, one of those eye masks put in the fridge and then placed on the eyes seems to help when my eyes are a bit puffy and baggy, esp. during allergy season. As for the dark circles, the only thing that does seem to help me is, actually, concealer. :)

There's no cosmetic surgery that can get rid of dark undereye circles. Usually dark undereye circles are due to the combination of thin skin in that area and blood vessels under the surface. They are hereditary and show up worse on light-skinned folks (and I have my mother to "thank" for mine, which I've had all my life--and they get worse with age).

Some things that may help:
>sleep with the head of your bed elevated, which can reduce fluid accumulation in the area and reduce the bags (if they are due to fluid accumulation. (it also helps if you have sinus problems).

>Use a serum or cream with vitamin K in, which is supposed to help reduce the darkness (by helping contract the blood vessels, I think?).

>Try chilled cucumber slices. I'm not sure if they work for dark circles, but they are supposed to help with swelling, so may reduce bags.

>>Use a self tanner on your face: the dark circles are less conspicuous.

A lot of it has to deal with what a person eats as well. For example, lots of sugar will do it too.

My heritage is Scandanavian. I have had dark circles forever it seems. They did improve when my children grew up, and I got more sleep. However, my secret remedy (not so secret) is cucumber slices, and lots of concealer. Good luck.
