Hello Everyone - I'm Back!

Hello everyone! I had my arthroscopic surgery this past Friday (10/3/03). Suffice it to say that it was all everyone said it would be. I can honestly say that I don't have any physical pain although my muscles are another story. I had my first session with the physical therapist yesterday. It was very hard and painful. Although my physical strength is very good, my muscle strength is somewhat weakened and I have a hard and long road ahead to get my entire right leg and thigh muscles to go back to where they were before the surgery. I've been told by some of my friends and family that I am recuperating very quickly. My fear of bearing my full weight is more apparent than I am able to admit. I did the strength exercises this morning and I was totally wasted! It took so much mental effort to make my entire leg go up, bend at the knee, bend at the knee on my stomach (ouch)and lifting my leg 8-10 inches off the floor on my side - this is very very hard to do!!! I will come back to you and let you know of my progress. For those of you that suffer with knee pain, I would highly recommend this surgery - what a relief to be able to get up and walk without constant pain!!

Take care,

Iris
