Happy Thanksgiving and Knee Update

Hi all,

Just wanted to drop a quick note to everyone and wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

To my NY Carb Blast Ladies (you know who you are) we'll be confirming a date soon for brunch!

As for my knee - I've seen a new doctor, another MRI is being done this afternoon and the next course of action may very well be additional surgery. My new doctor seems to feel that the idiot who preformed the arthroscopic surgery back in October did more harm than good since I'm worse than before the surgery. I don't mind telling you all that this whole experience has me very frustrated, not to mention very depressed - to the point of uncontrollable crying. I sympathize whole-heartedly with individuals who have limited use of their legs - talk about a wake up call!! My activity level is down to zilch because pain is the overall culprit here. I go to the office and then home - that's it. No workouts or physical therapy of any nature until my doctor gets to the bottom of what is going on.
Sorry - had to vent!!

Take care my dear ones... and be safe... oh don't forget - eat clean - yeah right - LOL }(

Iris :D

Thankfully it sounds like you have a new competent doctor! I had an arthroscopy in 1984, before MRIs were recommended for NOTHING...big bummer! The xrays with dye (am drawing a blank on the name) showed 80% chance of torn cartilage so they went in, but found nothing.

Anyway, hope you find some answers and feel better soon! I have chronic neck pain from 9 car accidents (never hit anyone myself!) and know how it is to be limited in your activities!!

Good thoughts sent your way!

Colleen

Thank you Colleen. With my active life (4 grown children, spouses and 5 grand children, not to mention my DB)the limitations are driving me nutz!!! If only it didn't hurt all the time - sorry - my own pity party!!!

Take care,

Iris

Hi Iris! I'm so very sorry to hear about your knee pain. Thank goodness you went to a reputable dr. to get to the bottom of this. Hang tough as I know you will before you know it you'll be up & stepping & kickboxing again! Can't wait to see you again. Cyber Hugs & Kisses Sweetie! Love, Kathy:*

Hi Iris:

So sorry to hear about your knee. I know what you're going through and nothing I can say will help, but try to enjoy the holiday...

See you soon!

Iris, keep your chin up. In the hands of a competent doctor, you'll be back in the game before you know it! I have had foot problems forever it seems in the form of Plantar Fasdiitis, which didn't respond to PT, cortisone or any therapy. I had surgery in May and am working out again and doing fine. I'll never be the intensity addict I once was but have learned to accept that and it hasn't made a difference in my fitness level doing it more easily these days!

Many blessing and a Happy Thanksgiving to you! Be patient and we'll be here for you as you recover and get going again. You sound like you have a wise and aware attitude and that will be so very helpful as you and your doctor get you back on your feet.

Iris, I was pretty severely depressed for awhile and my doctor prescribed an anti-depressant and it really helped. If you find you can't throw off your depression, it bears looking into. You are looking for the answer to your physical problems, make sure your treat your mind as well. I used to use exercise and diet as a means to keep depression at bay. When I couldn't exercise, it hit me hard and while you may not be prone to depression except as a response to your knee problem, depression which comes on as a result of something like a devstating knee problem can be treated in the short term very much like clinical depression. If your sadness lasts more than two week, talk to your doctor. Okay, I am shutting up now!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Iris! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. I'm sorry to hear that your knee is still giving you trouble. I wondered where you had been!

Take care and enjoy your holiday!

Awww Iris! You vent any time you want. How frustrating to think you went thru surgery to still have problems. I, too, would be crying uncontrollably. Hope the new doctor can help you very SOON! I think you need brunch out right now with your NYCB ladies! Just what the doctor would order, I bet!!! Keep us posted.

Hi Debbie, KathyH, Gretzky and All My Dear Buddies - THANK YOU!! You guys are amazing - you cheered me up!! I know with my new doctor and whatever treatment he prescribes i'll be back to where I was before this nightmare began. I did treat myself yesterday to an afternoon at this great little neighborhood spa like nail place. One of the girls gave me a 45 minute leg massage - talk about relief - ahhhhh. I can honestly tell you all that when I got up this morning my leg wasn't hurting as much, ran out - well not exactly running - but did my grocery shopping, etc. and so far pain free. My new doctor did call me and tell me he will calling my first thing Monday to discuss the findings of the latest MRI - hopefully it will be good news. I also did about 20 minutes of mat pilates this morning and some stretching and it helped alot. Thank you my dear friends - and yes Debbie, brunch will be happening soon with my carmine carb blast friends and with a couple of glasses of wine, I definately know I will not be feeling anything - LOL! Have a great day everyone!!

Take care,

Iris

P.S. KathyH - how did the spanish dish turnout for your dinner???
