Got DOMS?

work out

I always work out but, I'm one of those people that love doms and get disapointed if I don't get them after a weight session.

i work out the next day too. it usually feels a little better after warming up and starting a workout.

I work out the next day unless it's really bad. I always try to do some VERY light weight work on my sore muscles after I"m warmed up so that I can get the blood flowing in there again and stretch them out good. Otherwise, I get REALLY sore the following day!

Janie...do a recovery ride on your mountain bike. When I get doms from lifting, I ride easy the next day and it helps immensely.

I work out the next day but do a lifting workout that uses different muscles than the ones that have DOMS. I do a stretch or Yoga routine that employs the muscles that have DOMS.

I workout with DOMS or not. I find that a little bit of BenGay or Ibuprofen with a workout makes mine go away faster. HTH!

Hey DirtDiva! I know I need to get back on my bike. I haven't been in 2 weeks since my husband broke his colar bone, finger, and split his chin. It really freaked my out and put a massive damper on my confidence. Just when I was starting to really get the hang of it too. :) You would be proud of how far I had come. I even ordered the clips and shoes you reccomended!! I was tackling hills I never thought I could and zipping down mountain sides with the wind blowing so hard my eyes would tear, . . .and it was FUN! Right now I feel like a big giant scared frady cat. :( Maybe it is because I still have not found my mojo??

A Mojo is the mind in bliss...you will do this Janie...

I have DOMS just starting out STS

I got DOMS in my pre-STS period, and the DOMS is just continuing on full bore into my second week of STS. From other coments on various Cathe pages, I take it DOMS is a normal right-of-passage. But I am doing very easy aerobics during the three in-between days, each week.

I'll workout the next day but not as intense. Cherries are good for DOMS. I just read that on line somewhere, since then I get cherries when they are on sale. Plus take my potassium and Glucumate supplements.

I just thought I would post this at the mention of BenGay. It's about the girl that died using BenGay. But she was using multiple products in excess.

Quote from Article]"Newman put the muscle cream on her legs and used adhesive pads containing the anti-inflammatory, plus an unspecified third product, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner. "There were multiple products, used to great excess, and that's how she ended up with high levels," Borakove said. The products were used and the chemical absorbed over time, rather than from a single instance of overuse, she said."]Quote

I workout but don't work the muscles that have DOMS

As a personal trainer, this is exactly what I recommend unless there is overall fatique, no motivation to workout (not due to laziness), or severe soreness in one particular area. However, doing yoga or easy "active rest" (i.e., walking, yard work, house work) is totally okay.
