Glamour Shots

As a surprise Christmas present, BF's daughter and I are going to Glamour Shots this weekend. We are going to get all glammed up and take some pictures, separately and together, for him, my mom and maybe for some other relatives. Depending on the cost...

WOW, can this be expensive! The sitting fee for both of us is $50, whci isn't bad, considering that they will work with us for an hour or so to do hair and make up. This is her first glamming type thing (she is 12, almost 13) and that alone will be a great experience for her. Then the shots are something like $40/per sheet (which in some cases, is several pictures). Then they have all sorts of different things they can do like black and white, glamour overlay (takes away lines, etc.), one thing colored and the rest black and white, etc. Of course, that all costs extra!

Anyone do this recently? I think this is going to be a really fun time for us, if nothing else!

Hey Christine! I bet that is going to be great fun for her! I used to manage a Glamour Shots when i was in high school...so here's a few tips. ....(if things haven't changed that much)

that place is ALL about sales and everyone has quotas for the day...THAT said, they will negotiate till the death! Bargain with them for the "sheet" prices.

Also, alot of times, if there aren't alot of apts set for that day, they will put the employees out at the door to hand out flyers. they try to get people to come in right then by telling them they are waiving the sitting fee that day...so when you walk up..don't tell them you have an apt right away. see if they are offering any "Deals" that day. most likely, you can get out of the sitting fee. ;-)

if not, it will still be a great experience, but who doesn't want to save some money?! have fun!

Hi Christine, My sister and niece have had this done, plus other people I know. While the experience can be fun, be aware that you may not look like yourself when they are finished. I did not even recognize my sister in her pictures. While she did look beautiful, her personality did not show through at all. My niece looked a bit like herself, but much older. She was in her early teens and could easily pass for early 20s with all the makeup they put on her. These pictures are actually no where to be seen in any of our houses anymore. I think the reason being, they do not look like the person. My sister said they put tons of makeup on them, almost like you could literally peel it off. Like I said, my sister and niece had a great time doing it, but in my opinion, I like our family photos from a local photographer much better.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but want you to realize you may look like a totally different person when they are finished.

Even with my appointment, huh?

Yes, Bf's daughter wants her hair curly but has laready been warned that she will not look "made up" in the makeup department. She doens't ever wear more than gloss right now so we are talking a little light eye make up (no liners) and some cheeks. Nada more!

The girl on the phone was so cute though...she was all excited and made ten thousand suggestions....she wants me to bring BF's (army) uniform and do a "sexy picture" in it. Meanwhile I was thinking how cute it would be if his daughter wore his uniform top for one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God...maybe I am just too "old" for my own good!

My mom and I did Glamour Shots when I was about 15 and It was fun but we really looked different. My mom actually looked better when she does herself and I looked way older with puffy hair. But it was something different and it was nice to feel like a model for a while.
