for those who have insanity

In looking at the website it says that the resistance is body weight only. True? And are you still getting good results as far as that "cut" look goes?

yes that is indeed true. some have done insanity as is w/o adding weight training and have felt it was fine. I tried it for the first week or 2 and personally felt i was losing definition. That being said tho, 1 day of full body weight training added in to that rotation was all that I needed to get it back and keep it! :)

That being said...Insanity ROCKS! I did the rotation one and a half times and got great results. Taking a break from it now but will go back to it soon!

The more expensive Deluxe edition has an upper body weight training workout that you might enjoy; I'm not sure if Shaun T and/or BeachBody developed a rotation that incorporates it. That said, I love Insanity but only do 1-2 workouts on Sunday mornings, and I would never go without resistance training for all muscle groups. The body weight work is good, and you do get some muscle conditioning as a result of it, but it is primarily to pump up the cardio load. You certainly can use Insanity as you wish! I love it, and recommend getting the Deluxe package even though you get a LOT of unneeded fluff with it (overly fancy and clumsy packaging, an "Elite Nutrition Guide" with a fairly See-Spot-Run diet, and some ghoulish substance called "Results and Recovery Formula" that I call "Panther Piss"). I got Deluxe because you get the Max Interval Sports Training workout, INSANE Abs (a very sadistic core routine I have come to love dearly), and the upper body thing. Can't pass up extra DVDs!

They are good workouts but to do just those 4-5 days a week, I found them to repetitive. each workout has a different name, but I felt he did the same moves in all of them but added a couple of extra things in some. Dont get me wrong it is a good workout but I got bored doing high knees, suicides, heel kicks etc... in all the workouts. I need a variety and choose to do them just a couple of times per week and that works good for me. They will definately kick your butt tho.

Thanks for all the info! I had debated on this series, but I think I'm going to pass and stick with Cathe's HiiT and blast premixes to kick my butt. I can use the money I save to purchase Cathe's B&G 2.....I'm hoping there's one coming!!

Since Insanity was released last July there are probably more older threads about it.

It received a lot of attention in late summer and early fall when people were trying it and after they finished their rotation. You might try doing a search. There was a lot of chatter about it back then. (Perhaps people think it's already been discussed in depth so they aren't as inclined to add to this thread??)

The general consensus was VERY positive. Some people added upper body weight work in the first month, very few were able to continue any added weight work once month 2 started as those workouts were longer and even more intense. Shaun T is a great instructor. He's very motivating and gives excellent tips for avoiding excessive impact on joints.

Also, the Deluxe dvds can be ordered w/o the Results & Recovery formula.

I did the upper body wt workout that came with the series and that was a good workout. I liked it. I like variety. I wont stick with it if I get bored with it. I like something different .

I love these for the cardio; I have the Deluxe workouts as well as the basic package.

I bought them to use along with other workouts, not as a standalone program... I'll use up to two Insanities in a week, in between strength training and other styles of cardio. That works very well. My body doesn't like to be blasted with high intensity cardio every day :) I don't envision using Insanity as a stand-alone program, and I don't use the dvds every week so as not to get bored - but I certainly love them and they were worth the (expensive) pricetag.

Could not agree more with everything she said :)

I LOVE Insanity!!! I just finished the 60-Day Rotation a few weeks ago on my 40th birthday. After doing measurements and weight, I lost 21 pounds and 20 inches - LOVE IT!!!! I can't go a few days without doing it, I'm a cardio freak and just love it! It is the best way to start my morning. :D Yep, you could say I'm a freak about it.

I absolutely love Insanity and achieved great results with it, including greater muscle definition. I added one short total body workout weekly during the Insanity rotation It you are looking for cardio endurance then Insanity is for you. Cathe's HIIT DVd will not kick your butt like Insanity. In fact although I like HIIT, I found that after Insanity that Cathe's HIIt were only somewhat challenging. I could have continued doing Cathe's intervals after she stopped and I could have resumed exercising before her rest periods were up. In Insanity you get very, very short rest periods after 3 minutes of all out cardio.

Popping back in to say CONGRATS to MARCIA on her excellent results from the Insanity rotation she did! :D

Also just have to say that with all of this talk about it, I am going to have to start doing these work outs again! I was trying to delay the torture :p but you all have me convinced to stop stalling and just do it! ;)

MACIA- WOW those are amazing results. I have 20 lbs to lose and i'm starting Insanity 60 day rotation on the 23rd(after my birthday weekend) and i'm super excited

did you follow their nutritional plan too or something specific

lovebeingmom - sorry I'm just getting back to your question, I've been super busy and on a vacation in Jamaica. :D

I did not follow the nutrition plan they send with it. I had good intentions of doing it, it looks very easy to follow and good food options. I probably would give it a try with the next rotation of Insanity that I do after my 1/2 marathon.

Good luck - hope you are enjoying it!

Marcia.

I'm going to jump on the Insanity bandwagon too, haha. It looks like a blast and looks like everyone is getting good results. I wasn't disappointed with P90X so this should be fun!
