Fitness equipment collecting dust

Who has purchased fitness equipment on an impulse or from As Seen On Tv, thinking they really wanted it and were going to use it, but it ended up collecting dust or being used as a coat hanger?

I have Pilates Ring . I'm not sure where I acquired it, when I got it, or when I last used it. It's function right now is keeping my stability ball in place.

I purchased a "knock off" Tony Little Gazelle a few years ago. I saved a few $$, but I should have bought the real gazelle. As soon as I used it, the thing made a really loud annoying noise . The foot rests were awkward and had no proper grip (like on ellipticals) so my feet kept slipping back/forward making it virtually impossible to use. It was a great clothes rack though. When I moved, that clunky piece of crap went into the dumpster.

One big mistake, I bought ankle weights a few years ago but never used them. I thought they were a total waste and gave them away :(. Now that I know Cathe uses them a lot, I kick myself in the butt.

I dont have any at the moment but I wanted to tell you that I thought of you yesterday while I was in target LOL I saw Jillians new DVD kickbox and bought it. It was 12 bucks.

Bosu Ball
The Gazelle
Perfect Push Up + another set of push up bars
The Ab Wheel (I think that's what it's called)
Rebounder (until I finally sold it)

I have Karen Voight's Pilates Ring and her Genie weighted balls - I keep just in case for some reason.

Also, Supreme Pilates - I tried selling it on Kijjii several years ago and had no takers. I keep it b/c I think one day I might do it but it's tucked away in a closet...

The only purchase I regret is a bosu, but its a smaller one, almost the size of a disc, and it doesn't have that specific bosu dome, hmmm, not sure what to call it, but its original intention was for balance.

Well, its useless to me, I've tried using it for back support during ab work, a head rest watching tv, I've set weights on it, etc. I've finally found a good use for it as a *seat* on the ground after mountainbiking in the parking lot.

I can't even begin to tell you all the stuff I have in my gym. Its nearly embarrassing, but I use it all, I'm one of those types that says bring on the equipment change.

We had The Gazelle many years ago & sold it in a yard sale for $20. Not something I used but hubby did & loved it. He shed about 20 #'s with it. I guess a reverse answer for your question.

I can't think of any equipment I have but many dvd's that are shoved in the back collecting dust. Jillian Michaels would fall into that category. I'm not into that in your face, bad*ss style.

I too have bought so many fitness items that I thought was going to be the answers to my weight problems over the years. Then I found Cathe... I sold everything except for my treadmill. I now have set up an entire home gym with Cathe's DVD's and equipment needed for them. I look forward to my workouts and can watch an infomercial and not be sucked in!!!!:D

So, now I don't have anything with dust on it!!! Cathe pushes me to use it everyday!!!

Gosh I love my BOSU - it really gets my heart going quickly! I also love my rebounder - helped with incontinence!

I also purchased Tony Little's Gazelle and it did make an annoying creak. I could never get rid of that sound! Gave it away. It was a waste of my hard earned money.

I did buy a Pilate's ring and used it a few times. It hung on the wall collecting lots of dust until I read someone's post about setting their stability ball in it. Was that you, mini-natty? Thank you!

A few years back we purchased a nice, gym-quality treadmill from Costco. I just knew that was the answer when I had taken an hiatus from dvds for a few years. I used it for a short time...but found it became so boring. Now it sits in my workout space and I never use it ...however my daughters use it and like to watch movies while they exercise...so I am glad I got it for their sakes, but it was a bust for me.

I prefer to walk or run outside. My Cathe dvds have proven to be the best fitness investment for me. I use them over and over along with my weights, steps, bands and firewalkers.

I don't know if this qualifies as equipment: The Firm tapes from about 6 years ago. Once I found Cathe, I never used them again. I have a weighted ball, but have never used it.

I have such an array of fitness equipment and you all have me slightly embarrassed to say every single piece gets used. I have 3 sets of ankle weights, push up handles, weighted gloves, rebounder, elliptical, TM, squat rack, glute/ham machine, extension/curl machine, Fluidity Barre, 2 balls, got a BOSU last night and can't wait to work it in, 2 weighted vests, slanted risers, etc. And honestly every single piece gets used. Even my old Katami bar. Of course, DH knows if I DIDN'T use it, it would go away in an instant. But I love them all.

My dog walks on the treadmil. I bought it many years ago thinking I could walk miles while watching my favorite TV shows and get fit. I got bored with it very quickly so now my dog walks on it for excercise when I can't take her outside! It's still a good investment. :)

I love the dog walking on the treadmill. That just made me smile so big for some reason. Does he (she) watch tv while walking. :p My husband uses our treadmill but I don't. I hate running and can't walk - have hip displaysia and walking fast aggravates it badly. Thankfully Cathe and other aerobics don't as much.

I too had the thigh master years ago. That's makes me laugh too!

Lorrie, how do you like the BOSU?

I'm so embarassed but I did get the butt master from Suzanne Somers years ago! What a useless piece of equipment! My treadmill doesn't get much use these days either...
