Fit TV vs. videos

Hi all!

Hey, I'm sure someone has asked this question already, but I'm a "search" doofus and can't find anything. Do the FitTV versions of Cathe compare to the DVDs? I don't have any of the DVD's that they show on Fit (i.e., Kick, Punch, Crunch). I'm at the intermediate level looking to improve!

Thanks for your input!!

Just my opinion, but ...

I think it's far better to own the workouts than to do them on TV. First of all, there are commercial interruptions (big nuisance!). Secondly, you can't pause and rewind if you need to (very handy during step or when you need to run to the bathroom!). Third, you are very limited in their use. Unless you record them. you have to do whatever workout is scheduled and in that time slot. Also, you lose out on the versatility of premixes and being able to combine different videos on the same day.

And I don't know how they do it, but they manage to fit Cathe's workouts -- no matter how long they are on the DVD -- into a 60-minute slot with a bunch of commercial breaks!

I'd preview the video on Fit TV if you're not sure you'll like it, but buy the workout when you decide that you do. Best of both worlds!

There are usually parts missing in the FitTV version so they can put the commercials in. For example, the FitTV version of IMAX2 is missing the blast from combo 1, and all of combo 10. There may be another part missing that I'm forgetting. The FitTV version of Pyramid Upper Body is missing the abs section.

As Kathryn recommended, I used to record the FitTV versions to see if I liked the workout (and it didn't matter if they were a little shorter, since I wasn't quite up to "advanced" at the time) Then I bought the full versions later. I still have one or two that I've recorded and edited the commercials out, but I don't do them very often.

FitTV was how I found Cathe in the first place! :D I too have a number of the FitTV versions of Cathe, just simply for the fact that I can't afford to purchase ALL the Cathe DVD's all at once... Slowly but surely, the ones I really like from FitTV I will buy the Cathe DVD, but for now they are life savers and allow me greater flexibility in the rotations I can do and make up on my own! The bad part is, like Pearlstrand said, the commercials (which I record out from my DVR to a DVD recorder) and that they smoosh any of Cathe's workouts into 60 minutes (less 15 minutes of commercials on average)... PLUS Cathe workouts all have some really great premixes and timesaver workouts as added bonuses...

so, for me, I like them, but will eventually get more original DVD's as time goes on, and as I can sneak them in the house without being busted! :)

Hi Liz!
Another vote for purchasing the DVD's! Like another member posted, I discovered Cathe through FitTV and started recording her routines. It was great in the beginning as I built up my endurance, but there's nothing like having the entire DVD with no commercial interruptions when you're ready! You still get a great workout with the FitTV version, but the DVD is even greater. Plus, another thumbs up for the premix option!

Good luck!

:)Christine

FitTV has been a great way to introduce the world to Cathe and to give people a chance to preview what she does. In that respect, FitTV is very useful. But for a serious COMPLETE workout, you need the dvd's.
