Fever for 5 days

Hello,

I typically don't freak out when my kids run a fever because I know its is own natural way to fight infection. However I'm beginning to get a bit concern that my 4 year old daughter has been running a fever since Monday evening. She does not have an appetite, complaining about a headache, tummy ache, and feeling nauseous and just yesterday started complaining about her ear hurting. I do plan on taking her into the doctor tomorrow just to make sure everything is ok, but wondering if maybe I should take her into the urgent care today instead? Any advice from nurses or anybody who has gone through similar experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Lulu

All my kids are grown, so I have been there, done that. A fever this long, I would take her to urgent care. Expecially if she is complaining about her ear. Being up all night with a child with an earache, is not my idea of a good time. Urgent care can give her some antibiotics, if it is an ear infection, so everyone can sleep tonight. Good luck with this. Sick children are no fun at all.

Lulu how is your daughter doing? Please keep us posted.

Hi!
I took my daughter to urgent care later evening with a high fever and severe abdominal pain. From there we where sent to the ER to be evaluated for possible appendicitis. THANK GOD it only turn out to be a urinary track infection. She has been on medication for 2 days and still experiencing fevers and tummy aches and not quite herself yet. Tomorrow we go to her pediatrician for a follow up and hopefully she will be feeling better.

Oh no, Lulu. So sorry to hear about your daughter's sickness, but I'm glad she's getting the medicine/treatment she needs.
Best wishes for her speedy recovery!
Roz

I suffered from urinary tract infections as a small child. Later, it continued into my teens. The only thing that really seem to help overtime was bilberry. It helps more than antibiotics. I just buy natures way brand online from vitacost. The nice thing about it is that it doesn't interfere with her system. I hope she feels better soon.
