Do any of you ever feel fat at the health club? I have been feeling good about my workouts. I have seen a difference in my fat loss, muscle mass, muscle tone etc. I have also went down several sizes.

Then,,, tonight for some reason I got this ugly glimpse of myself in the gym while I was doing some chest presses. It usually doesn't bother me. I usually just say to myself...."at least I am here... doing something about it!"

But tonight for some odd reason I just looked so much fatter than all the other mirrors I see myself in at work, at home etc....

Maybe the club makes fat mirrors just so we'll continue to spend money there! hee hee!

I was also wearing this hideous, old white t-shirt. It is huge and hanging off of me. Maybe I need some new ones?? Know where to get any cute ones??? I like v-neck t-shirts or one with big necks.

Just wondering if ya' all ever feel this way when you go to the gym? Or if once again it is me all alone out on the Looney Bird branch by my lonesome... ha ha

I felt that way when I went to Bally's, but then again, they told me my bodyfat percentage was way higher than it was, so I felt like a blimp anyway. I don't feel that way when I work out at the Y.

Just Do It! :)

Yes

At my last job but one we had a gym and I used to go to a Wednesday Step class there were the usual slim things at the front of the class. I looked fat and frumpy.

The upside was thatI had just started doing Cathe CTX and found that I could keep up with them and because I was doing Cathe's moves at home I was able to learn the steps much quicker than most of the class.

Pammer,

That's really funny that you brought this up. I work out at 2 different gyms, plus I have a set up in my basement with a big mirror. The gym I go to most often has this HORRIBLE mirror which makes me look huge and shows every little bit of cellulite on the backs of my legs when I wear shorts. It's right next to the cardio equipment which is why I go to this particular gym, so there's no escaping it. I hate that mirror with a passion! In the other gym, which is Cathe's gym, I'm always looking at myself and thinking "Damn, I look good today!". Unfortunately this gym is a bit further away and I'm only there a couple of times a month when I workout with my trainer. I actually think it may have to do with the lighting, which is very low in Four Seasons and kind of bright in the other place. The mirror in my basement is kind of neutral, depends on what I'm wearing and the time of day.

The thing I try to remember when I'm at the gym is not to compare myself to anyone else. After all, for a lot of them I'm almost twice their age. I look and feel better now than I did when I was 20, and I'm getting better all the time. That's what's important!

Alot of these places have fluorescent lighting which always makes everyone look awful, a combination of that and the mirrors x(. It is the same with clothes shop mirrors in changing rooms. I only trust my full length mirror at home :).

I was on line last night looking for some funhouse mirrors. I want the ones that make you look really tall and skinny. Unfortunately, if you aren't with a circus or amusement park, they make you buy like 50 of them and, well, I don't need that many. Just one for my workout room.

To paraphrase Andy Warhol, I have 15 minutes of fat, 15 minutes of thin.

I go to the gym about 5 lunch-hours per week, and I'd swear my body "morphs" (changes) every day. It's interesting that on the mornings I don't workout at home, I feel the mirror at the gym should reflect a fatter me. Nope! Conversely, on the mornings that I do work out, especially doing a leg tape, I really expect the mirror at the gym to reflect a more toned, muscular me ('cause Lottie, I really feel every muscle in those legs!) Nope!

Also, my gym has thin mirrors and fat mirrors.

Hmmm . . . maybe I should stop looking at myself in mirrors . . . not! I do better at gym class if I'm up front near the instructor and closer to the mirrors -- anyone else find that?
