since i am in a new apt. i now have room for one but have no idea what to buy. i saw one at a store for $200 but there has to be ones cheaper than that!
I just purchased this one and I am happy with it. I doesn't take much room in the small closet where I store most of my exercise stuff and this one holds all my dumbbells. The price was only $34.77 (and free shipping) from Amazon. Marcy DBR 56 Dumbbell Rack "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00245PTPU"
Plz take out the quotes, I am having troubles getting this system to accept the web address, so I trying to get around the problem with the quotes.
Mine is sitting on a concrete floor but it has no wobble there and like Kathryn's it is easy to get the weights on and off. It had great reviews on Amazon, price and size is why I bought it.
I have a Reebok rack very similar in design to the Marcy one. It doesn't wobble (mine sits on a carpet remnant over carpet) and has lasted for years. My only complaint is that I have to be careful replacing dumbbells on the center horizontal racks--pinched fingers = ouch! I would prefer a model like Kathryn suggested, but I found my rack on clearance at Target for $20--plus it holds more dumbbells. It has worked great for about 8 years. I store 3, 5, 8, & 10 lb dumbbells down the sides; 12 & 25 lb db's on the bottom horizontal; and 15 & 20 lb db's on the top horizontal. That is a lot of weight, especially on the horizontal racks, and I've had no problems.
I have the Marcy one. Mine sits on laminate flooring with no wobbling. I have pairs of 12, 15, 20, and 25 down the sides and pairs of 3, 5, 8, and 10 in the middle along with two medicine balls (5 and 8 pounds). I have no complaints about mine.
I like the A Frame because it looks like it will take up a lot less space. And it's only $35.65 including shipping from buy.com. That is the lowest I could find.
