Commit to get Fit & Lean January 2016 - 2023

Hi,

Today was walk outside. I will do a stretch shortly.

Tomorrow I have another doctor appointment for my shoulder.

Debbie - it rained in the morning yesterday, in the afternoon it was very nice. Hope you enjoyed your rest day yesterday.

Cookie and Melissa - I hope you both doing well.

Have a great Sunday.

Hi,

Today was a walk outside. I went to a Farmer's Market in another town it wasn't too bad in the sun. There isn't much left just bought soup, greens and hummus.

Belinda - Nice day for a walk! Good luck with your Dr.'s appointment tomorrow. We are expecting a lot of rain this week, so trying to get out when I can.

Waves hi to Cookie & Melissa

Goodnight:)

Hi all, remember me?! Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving!

I apologize for not checking in over the past few weeks: traveling for Thanksgiving/Thanksgiving week was a lot, then we got back and I had a lot to deal with for both my business and a volunteer organization to which I've just been appointed treasurer. I'm trying to solidify boundaries around all this stuff so definitely needed some quiet downtime to get settled into it all!

Today was a leg workout at home that I designed. Covid cases are up here and I'm not comfortable going to the gym, so I will probably take a hiatus from there until everything calms down.

Belinda, how is the shoulder feeling? Hope your doctor's visit went well!

Debbie, the rain here was so bad on Saturday but the wind really made it gross outside. We have rain coming back over the next few days.

Cookie, hope you are feeling better! Something about last week was just exhausting lol. Even my clients were saying it. Socializing hangover maybe? At least for me it was haha!

Enjoy your day, everyone :)

Hi everyone,

I have an Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder), I also have inflammation. I don't get it? What could caused it? Everything I been researching The condition occurs more commonly in people with diabetes and in people who've kept their arm immobilized for a long period of time?? I haven't stopped working out, lol. The doctors said the inflammation comes from RP. I also have cartilage loss in my left shoulder. Adhesive Capsulitis can take from 3 month up to 3 years to completely heal. He wants me to get steroids in my shoulder. Hopefully it will relieve some of the pain. He also want's me to stop physical therapy for my shoulder/neck/biceps, continue with PT after the steroid injections. If the steroids injections doesn't work, I need surgery. I will schedule an appointment tomorrow. He still wants do some weight training/moving my shoulder. I will see my Rheum on the 12th and UPenn the end of this month. I think they need to put me on a different meds.

This week is my recovery week. I did a Suzanne Bowen Fitness UB with light weights. I have to keep my shoulder in motion.

I still waiting for the results for the allergy lab tests.

Debbie - I will walk as much as I can this week too. It was freezing cold today. I am surprised your famers market is still open. Ours ends the end of Oct.

Melissa - no need to apologize. It's always hard after traveling getting back into your normal routine. I hope the covid cases stay low here. Great job on your workout today.

Cookie - I hope all is well.

Good night.

Evening! I've been busy with house guests, visitors, work, and life! Just got home from a meeting. I particularly dislike evening meetings! Ugh.

Deb, good finds at the farmers' market. i love soup and could happily eat it every day.

Belinda good luck with thyour shoulder. Hope the Rheum doc can provide some insight at least with the meds.

Melissa, I think that's what I have after Thanksgiving and this past weekend - socialization hangover. Love the term. Setting boundaries is really important, but I'm not very good at it.

Hi,

Today was a walk outside, I was bundled up so not too bad. I did some Christmas shopping tonight at the mall it wasn't really crowded. I was in Target and shocked to see almost all the Christmas decorations are gone.

Belinda - It is a lot you are going through but it does sound like the Dr. has a good plan. It's funny how they want to keep your shoulder in motion because it probably always is;)

Cookie - This time of year is so busy. Once it is dark and cold I don't like to leave the house. The only thing I notice is I have a harder time seeing at night.

Melissa - I noticed people wearing masks at the mall and food stores. Our cases aren't up but I'm sure people are being cautious. It sounds like you have a lot going on hopefully you get a break during the holidays.

Goodnight:)

Good morning,

I did Suzanne Bowen Fitness Standing+Mat Lower Body (BW).

I have no time for personals, I will catch up later. Going to PT for my knees. BBL

Evening,

The Orthopedic doctor yesterday, didn't say don't workout. I guess, he doesn't want me to lift heavy on my left shoulder. What he said is stop the PT (physical therapy). It didn't make sense to me, I called the Orthopedic's nurse and ask why I can't do physical therapy? I can't get an appointment for the steroid shot until the middle of Jan, not doing PT for that long didn't make any sense. Got a call from the nurse, saying the doctor doesn't want me to do anything aggressive. Nothing overhead, pushups, no lifting off the floor on my left arm, not open a heavy door with my left arm, except use a very light weight no heavier than 2 pounds or very light bands. Basically do biceps curls only w/ 2 pounds only. The doctor doesn't want any pressure on my shoulder joint. I guess, my shoulder is worst than I thought. There is also a small piece of bone broken off my shoulder and a lot of inflammation. I shouldn't have swelling with all the meds I am on. I think the Orthopedic doctors ( I saw 2) worry it will get worst if I move my shoulder to much. After the call with the nurse, I felt like a slap in my face :( I hope they have a cancelation so I can get the shot sooner than Jan.

Debbie - I sure, have a lot going on. My doctors do have a good plan.Yes, he wants my shoulder in motion with the pulley, nothing else. Great job on the walk. I guess, no matter what I have to start doing my daily walks outside again. What else I am going to do until Jan, besides lower body. Yikes, on the xmas decorations. I saw a lot at Costco in case you need some, lol. I haven't been in the mall in years, lol.

Cookie - sorry you are so busy lately. DD has a lot of night meetings too. It must be tough especially since it gets so dark these day's. I can't wait to get my Rheum opinion on Monday. How are you doing lately?

Hi Melissa.

Good night.

'Evening! Been busy w/Mom. She had a stroke today, so definitely resulted in a change of plans. She has dementia, so this only compounds things. Seems to affect her swallowing, speech and right arm. Guess we'll know more in the next few days.

Deb, today was warmer here than yesterday, but I still was wearing a down coat. I'm always cold. Are you?

Belinda, hope you can get the PT and shot sooner. It must be overwhelming.

Melissa, hope all is well.

Hi,

Today was a walk at gym & some leg exercises. It was a rainy & damp day here.

Belinda - Hopefully since it is the holidays someone will cancel their appointment. Will they call you or do you have to keep checking with them?

Cookie - Sorry to hear your Mom had a stroke, hopefully it won’t be too bad. Sending prayers your way. I’m always cold too.

Waves hi to Melissa

Goodnight:)

Hi,

Today I walked outside and I did my own upper body workout with 2 pounds DB's. Noting overhead, nothing to stress my shoulder. I even did some exercises laying down doing. It's very challenging to get a good upper body workout, you don't realize how many exercise you are use your shoulders. Thanks for YT :) My DD is creating a stretching routine without lifting/moving my shoulder, she will be posting it on YT for me.

Debbie - I have to check with them. I am flexible. Great job on your walk and leg workout at the gym. It's rainy here too.

Cookie - I am so sorry about your mom. Sending you lots of prayers. I am a little overwhelmed. I guess I have to walk more and do more lower body workouts without weights (or 2 LB). I hope someone will cancel soon.

Hi Melissa.

I have physical therapy tomorrow morning.

Good night.

Good morning! Today was ICE Chiseled Upper Body: love that one! Was able to go up in some of the weights today which was awesome.

Belinda, I'm so sorry you're going through all of this with your shoulder. For some reason, the research for what sets people up for adhesive capsulitis is lacking: it occurs more often in women though for whatever reason, though I did treat a man for it a few years ago and he had it in both arms. He did well in therapy though! I always tell people, even though you might feel like you're being a PITA, call the ortho every few days or so to see if theres's a cancellation to get you in sooner. It usually works! Also, sleep, hydrating, and eating well/enough will help with the inflammation!

Cookie, I'm so sorry about your mom. Sending you and your family all of the prayers and healing wishes. Please let us know if we can do anything.

Debbie, I'm the weirdo who has been masking since this all started, especially because I specialize in pregnant and postpartum rehab and am in remission for cancer, I am extra cautious about everything! My dad actually just got covid (he's fine); I was supposed to visit them last weekend but something came up so I couldn't go and now I'm thinking someone was looking out for me with that one!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi,

I had physical therapy for my shoulder and knees. My physical therapist gave a few pointers on what no to do since I can't do anything overhead/pushing off anything. I thought I could do chest presses laying on the floor, she not to do this exercise. I guess, I work my biceps, triceps, a few back exercises (that doesn't use my shoulder) and standing lower body with bands/2 pounds. DH and I went for a 2 mile walk today.

Debbie - I been calling to see if someone is cancels their appointment. Fingers crossed. Maybe not doing a lot will teach me to slow down, lol.

Melissa - great job on ICE UB today. Thank you! I did a lot of research online, I found out people with autoimmune diseases get it too. It didn't made any sense to me, I do workout every day. I do use my arms a lot. It's defiantly not from not using my arm a lot. Last year, I had adhesive capsulitis. I did really well with physical therapy. This time, I am not doing so well. Up until a few day's ago, I still was doing STS. I was in a lot of pain, I still worked out daily. DH called the ortho today to check if someone canceled ,lol. He got the nurse on the phone, she made sure to remind my husband that I follow the instructions the gave me a few day's ago. My physical therapist, she is amazing. Of course, some of the exercises she gave me a while ago, I shouldn't be doing like wall climb, corner stretch (can't do any push exercises). I been masking since I heard it on the news, I take 2 different immune depressed meds. One is a chemo one. I hope your dad recovers quickly from covid. Covid is still around.

Cookie - how is your mom doing? Sending you more prayers and healing vibes.

I will try to check in later.

'Evening! Not sure what I picked up, but got very sick yesterday afternoon, and was sick overnight. With nothing left in my stomach, just have a headache and a real brain fog. DH was laughing at how bad I filled out a customs form to send a package overseas. So, nothing for me today, but did get a walk in yesterday. Mom seems about the same but she's very frightened and frustrated b/c she can't understand what's going on. Plus it has to be explained over and over to her, b/c of the dementia. Very sad. Thanks all for your wishes.

Deb, you are so good at being consistent w/your workouts. It's been damp here also.

Belinda, glad you have such a good PT, and hope you get in sooner.

Melissa, dementia is such a terrible disease - it's like we lose another part of her each day.

Hi,

Just a quick Check in, we are in Las Vegas for DHs friends birthday. It isn’t too late here but because of the 3 hour time difference late for us.

I will be back tomorrow for personals:)

Good morning! Today I plan on doing some kind of cardio, not sure what yet. I also booked myself a tattoo appointment as a Christmas gift to myself, so I'll be getting that this afternoon which I'm really excited about! It's also our anniversary so not sure if we will do something tonight or tomorrow. Busy days ahead (of course lol)!

Belinda, yeah sometimes AC is just brought on by how your body works/is made without any rhyme or reason. I think the stress probably plays into it, too; stress has such a crazy effect on our physical bodies, it's so interesting and crazy to me.

Cookie, I hope you're feeling better! Your poor mom, I can't imagine what she must be experiencing, and also you and your family with everything. Dementia is very difficult.

Debbie, have a great time in Vegas! I love it out there!

Hi,

Today I did SBF (Suzanne Bowen Fitness) upper body workout and a walk.

Debbie - I must have missed it. I have no idea you planned on going to Las Vegas for DHs friends birthday. Good for you. How long are you staying.

Cookie - I hope you feel better today. Sorry about your mom. So sad :( I can't imagine what she and you are going through. Praying for you both.

Melissa - I agree what you said about the AI. RP doesn't came from stress. I am not stressed out. I except the disease, I don't stress about it. It is what it is. Happy anniversary! What kind of tattoo are you getting? Alesia got a very nice one not too long ago. she always wants me to get one too, lol.

Sadie has a vet appointment for her shots. I will be back tomorrow.

Hi,

Today was lots of steps.

We arrived yesterday evening and went out with our friends. This morning we received a text one of DHs friend is having pain and is at urgent care, the other one lost his phone and is trying to figure that out. So DH & I have been walking all around trying to keep busy & get fresh air. Unfortunately, Las Vegas is not for us too much smoke in the casinos and too many people all over. I hate to sound so negative it’s just not for us. The positive is the food is really good & a beautiful Christmas display at our hotel:)

Belinda - It seems like you are doing a good job of getting in your workouts and being mindful of your shoulder:). DHs friend is having another birthday in FL (in hindsight we should have went to that one). He is the friend who is sick. We leave on Monday.

Cookie - My thoughts are with you and your Mom. I hope you are feeling better. It’s a tough time of year to not feel good. Take care of yourself:)

Melissa - I love the ICE workouts. Happy Anniversary to you and your fiancé. I always wonder if tattoos are painful?

'Evening! Felt better today but took a personal day to recharge. Watched World Cup games and an Zoom session on how Christmas traditions evolved over time. A really good day.

Deb, Vegas is a good place to get lots of steps in! The Neon Museum is pretty interesting, and heard the one about illegal activity was interesting. We're not into gambling either but liked seeing Fremont Street at night and the Bellagio. Hope your friend is okay and recovers quickly.

Belinda, hope you took it gently with your upper body workout. Hope things go well with Sadie and her shots.

Melissa, happy anniversary! Have you decided on a design for your tattoo?

Hi,

Today was steps not as many as yesterday. We went to a fun place for brunch, watched the World Cup & walked along Fremont Street. Tonight we are going to see Ron White our friend bought tickets a few months ago for his birthday.

Our birthday friend had a flare up of diverticulitis and is on medicine. The Dr. said it would work quickly and it seems to be.

Belinda - I hope all went well with Sadie’s shots.

Cookie - I’m happy to hear you are feeling better:). We are staying at the Bellagio it is beautiful, lots to see when we walk around. One of the couples wife is from England so we were hoping they would win for her. Fremont Street is interesting, one couple is staying their and they have stories to tell.

Melissa - Wondering what tattoo you picked.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend:)
