**Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It**

Cathlete
It's been a few days since anyone has posted anything. So I throw this out in the hopes you gals are still out there :D

I did 5 sets of 5 weighted chinups with 5 extra pounds today. Then I was supposed to do GSL standing portion. My toes started to cramp. I made through the second set of squats and had to call it quits x( I get these blasted toe cramps periodically, but usually at the end of the workout x(

OK, ladies it's time to report!!

VERY CUTE TITLE for chinnerland.

I just got done with my 5 sets of 5 chins/pulls. Yesterday I started to do them and I got to 4 and quit....I couldn't even get out 4 chins Catherine!! I was just not in the chinnin mood I guess. Today was a better day. You are doing awesome with "weighted" chins. I felt like mine were weighted to with the extra few pounds I put on!!! I think I'm going to fast again:p :p .

So how about all you other guys in chindomland (isn't that a word).

Waves to all! I'm going to go do some pushups and get to bed!!

Forgot to add...I'm sorry about your accident Linda...and your wrists too. I've been having several issues this past year that make workin out frustrating. Between my knee and elbow pains x( x( x( x( x( . But I'm workin through it!! Hope you are doing better.

Briee!! It's good to hear from ya. Isn't it amazing how our strength can vary so much from day to day? Sometimes I think it has as much to do with mental state of mind as it does actual strength.

I am going to try GSL tonight again and cross my fingers that those nasty cramps don't return!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Ok, I know that someone out there somewhere is doing some chinups or pullups :+ Come out come out where ever you are!!!

Lets see. Sunday I did pullups 5 sets of 5 but the last rep on each set was assisted with the band. I had done heavy upper body on Sat and was still pretty sore and fatigued.

Today I did weighted chins 5 pounds extra 5 sets of 5. I had to come home at lunch to check on Muffie, she's been sick. Usually my sis lets them out during the day a couple of times, but she had an appointment. So while I was home I did my chinups. I will do GSL this evening.

Joanne, RT is coming!!!!!

Briee, how is the clan?

Linda, if your still out there, how's it going?

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hey kiddo, the clan is fine thanks for asking! We have been in northern wisconsin for the past 3 days rafting down the wolf river. We had a really nice time and I'm TIRED. No chins yet today...hopefully later on. Gotta get in a good weight workout some time here!!

Awesome job on those chins - weighted too!! You're amazing. How is everyone else doing??

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hi Friends,

Been really busy lately and just found this thread. No chins for me, I screwed up my left wrist really good doing Warp Speed. I did some heavy lifting yesterday for the first time and my wrist was not happy for some of it. But here's what I did so far this week.

Monday - No workout. Instead left house really early and traveled two hours to sit for the ACE personal trainer exam. BTW, I passed!

Tuesday - Choose cardio. Did Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge do the powers twice in the beginning, then doing the combos.

Wednesday - Decided to do some heavy lifting, sure have missed it. So I choose a full body day from previous 8 week rotation which was three sets of 5, and it looked like this.

Chest
Flat Barbell Press
5/5/5 - 100#

Back
Double Arm Rows
5/5/5 - 42's *probably should have gone heavier*

Quads
Squats
5/5/5 - 110# *took these to parallel*

Shoulders
Dumbbell Press
5/5/5 - 30's *left wrist did not like these*

Biceps
Barbell Curls
5/5/5 - 55# *would have liked to try more weight, but was worried about wrist*

Triceps
Close Grip Press
5/5/5 - 85# *left wrist screamed on first set, so wore a wrist support for next sets and was better*

Then did 3/12 of offset lunges and 3/8 of barbell rollouts 55# for abs. Will be interesting to see what kind of DOMS I end up with from the lift since I having done a lot for awhile.

Thursday - repeat of Tuesday. Also have some good DOMS going from yesterday. Sure have missed the lifting!

Have a great day!

Linda, good to hear from you!!! WTG on ACE PT exam!!!!! Will you come train me now? Sorry to hear about your wrist x( Injuries suck!!

That w/o looks good. I was wondering if a wrist wrap would help and it looks like it did some. Be careful. I know you don't need me to tell you that LOL!!

I am planning upper body this evening. But who knows,....

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Catherine - Hi Catherine! I've missed you! I didn't see this thread for a while so I thought it died. I was starting to think I was going to have to find somewhere else to track you down. :+ Yes, it would be my pleasure to come train you now. And thanks for the support, not even one of the maniacs said congrats! Kinda hurts! have no idea what is up with the wrist, all the tenderness and pain is around the base of the radius (had to use something from all that studying :p ) I loved the lifting yesterday, I've missed it so, and the DOMS. Which I have today! Yipee! Hey BTW, I need a name for my company, any ideas?

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Linda, I kinda let the thread die for a little. I think I was feeling lonley. You weren't around and of course Briee and Joanne are busy doing their out doorsy stuff :D Marcy says she's gonna join back in soon.

I think it's awesome that you passed your PT exam!!! You should be very proud. I will think on the name thing, but I am not very creative :(

I did my upper body workout this evening and now am enjoying a glass of red wine.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Catherine - Happy Birthday!!!! Saw that on the OD forum. Hope it's been a great one! Sorry I wasn't around, but I was cramming for the exam the last few weeks. I didn't tell any one because I was afraid I would fail and I didn't want to have to admit that to anyone. On the name thing what do you think of "One More" as in give me one more rep, one more set, one more minute and so on....

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hey Chinsters-

I'm still chinin and thinking of you all everytime I do one!

I, too, haven't had a good cardio session in almost three weeks except for a few bike rides. My knee has been hurting. I'm so glad biking doesn't hurt it. It better heal soon-the road trip is getting closer!

Anyway, keep up the good work ladies.

Joanne

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hi Joanne!! I haven't had any MEANINGFUL cardio in a while as well. I haven't biked in a while either...gotta get out to do that. Also...I was wondering which cardio coach you like the best. I know I asked before, but I'm FINALLY going to do it!!. Thanks a bunch.

Linda...MAJOR CONGRATS ON YOUR ACE EXAM. You can come train all of us!! I'm jealous. I can't remember...where do you live? Close to Wisconsin? I like your name too (if you go with it).

Catherine...don't let us die!!! Keep this chinnin thread going!

Marcy..come back!!:7 :7 :7 :7 :7

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Hi Everyone!

I'm going to try and start posting here again. I'm getting through my first serious rotation since moving (4DS) and I'm finally back to my weight before I moved (3# less). My elbow was also strained last week which kept me from doing as much as I would've liked.

It took awhile to build my strength back up but I think it's finally getting there.

On Monday, I decided to do P90X Legs & Back since that was the only workout that really got me to up my numbers. The legs part isn't really that challenging for me anymore (although the wall squats still get to me at times) and I do like doing the balance moves (skater lunges and deadlifts).

I didn't do any workout today but I managed to do 2 1/2 chins in a row today.

Tomorrow is 4DS Bis & Tris and probably a short leg workout.

I'm all moved into our new home and it's great. I love my new workout room. It's carpeted but I'll deal with it for now. My chinup bar is permanently up in the doorway so I always try to do some whenever I walk by.

Catherine - I see you're still as strong as ever.

Briee - Sounds like you're enjoying your summer.

Linda - Don't really know you yet but congrats on passing your ACE exam!:) Amy's ASC2 is one of my favorite step workouts. Just wanted to tell you, you look fabulous!

I promise I will try and check in more often. The last couple of months have been pretty hectic.

Marcy

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

I am thrilled to see all of the activity around here!!

Linda, thanks for the B-day wishes. It was a good day :D As far as the name- I like it. If I think of anything else I'll through it out there. Glad to hear you are still chinning

Briee, I wouldn't let the thread die completely ;)

Marcy, you have been busy haven't you? Glad you like your new home!! Hope your wrist heals quickly.

I am planning some cardio today. Not sure what. Pullups are on the list too :p

Joanne, what a bummer about your knee x( Thank goodness you can bike!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Morning Chinsters!

Woke up not feeling like working out at all and ended up have a pretty good workout. The only thing that kept it from being great was the thousand interruptions from my kids, who had gotten up early! I went the 5 reps again, because like I said I started out not wanting to do anything so I was trying to keep it short. But I ended up doing a lot of playing around with exercises.

Chest
Barbell Press
5/5/5 - 105# *up 5#, surprised that I got through this*

Back
Overhand Barbell Rows
5 - 95#
5/5 - 100# *personal best here, might even go heavier next time*

Hamstrings
Elevated SLDL's
5/5/5 - 120# *Nothing new here*

Shoulders
130 Lateral Raises
5/5/5 - 20's *tried 25's, but couldn't do it, but going to 130 degrees was a great challenge and really hit the posterior delts.*

Biceps
Hammer Curls
6/6/6 - 30's/25's *I really wanted to do 30's but could only do three reps before I failed on each set, so I would then drop to 25's and do three more reps.*

Triceps
Lying Barbell Extensions
5/5/5 - 50#
3 - 45# * then threw in cross body kickbacks just three reps with 20#*

Then did stability ball roll outs but from a standing position, took a lot of balance.

Joanne - Sorry about your knee. I messed my knee up a couple months ago and still modify cardio because of it. So I feel your pain.

Briee - I love all the Cardio Coaches. BTW, I live in southern New Jersey.

Marcy - Thanks on both counts! I love Amy's ASC except all her whooping! I here she doesn't do that in ASC2, I really want to get that one.

Catherine - Good Morning!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Oh I almost forgot, I have another name to try out on you guys. "All You Got" What do you think? Be honest, you're not going to hurt my feelings. Also thinking of making "One More" "Just One More". Suggestions are also welcome.

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Linda, your workout was impressive!! Are you liking the 5 rep thing?? I did that for a while, going as heavy as I could and it worked well. Now I've lightened up a bit and am shooting for 8 reps.

I like "All You Got" actually a bit better than "One More" I think you want something catchy so to speak that people will remember. How bout burn baby burn LOL!! OK, sorry. But I told you I am not very creative :+

I decided on LM this morning and did intervals 1-4. I actually forgot how much I like this workout. Except the blast are like doing a leg workout }( I also did 5 sets of 5 pullups. The first few sets felt easier than usual- not easy, easier. I may have to add some weight to my pullups now  By adding weight, I mean 1-2 pounds LOL!!!

RE: **Chinups in the Summer Time There's Nuttin Like It...

Briee-Actually, I have all the cardio coaches except the pump one. I don't have a favorite but I sure like them. I don't run indoors but I still love it to run outside or even on my bike. He is so motivating and great music.

Linda-another vote for "All you Got".

Catherine-hope you had a nice birthday. And, also, thanks from me too for keeping this thread going. I might not post very often but I am always thinking about you all - seriously. You are the ones that keep me chinning.

Marcy-Someday I will have my own workout room. Glad you are all moved in.

Joanne
