Hi! I was reading over on the video discussion forum that you don't use a step to do any of Cathe's step workouts. Do you have to do her more intense workouts, then, to get a decent workout? I also don't own a step, or any of her cardio workouts, but I'm tempted to try them because I keep reading about them.

Does anyone else do the step workouts on the floor?

Thanks! Elaine

Well, hello there!

Yes, you read right...I don't use a step (not yet, anyway -- it'll be a while before I think I will be able to). Some others on here already know this about me, but I am asthmatic, and I find that adding a step to the workouts pushes the intensity just too high for my lungs to handle. My body can handle it, but my lungs can't.

However, I still get an incredible workout. When I started out a few months ago, I kept everything to low impact, but in recent weeks, I've found that I've been able to start doing higher impact moves, jumping and adding more intensity, and my lung capacity and cardio levels are really improving.

Even though I don't use a step, I'm still moving around for 30-60 minutes (depending on what workout I do) and have sweat pouring out of my body by the halfway point! My husband can attest to that. :D I have to keep a towel nearby and stop every so often to wipe off.

If you're moving, you're working out. You don't need a step...you just need to m-o-v-e.

Definitely invest in some of Cathe's step workouts. Give them a try without the step. It might feel funny at first without a step (it did for me), but after a while, you'll totally forget that it's a "step" workout. And, Cathe's step workouts are too fun to miss out on!

Yes, I think I will give her step workouts a try. They do sound like fun. I'm not a cardio fan, but at least if they're fun, I will do them, rather than have to psyche myself up the whole day just to go for a run!

I used to do interval running, but bursitis in my hip ended that. Two years in a row of such awful pain that I was confined to little or no walking, let alone running.

I found that step aerobics (sans the step) fit the bill, but I just got so bored with the workouts I was trying.

Then, one day, there was Cathe on FitTV. "Who's this?" I asked, curious about this new fitness guru that was on when Tamilee Webb normally would have been. "Who's this Cathe Friedrich woman?"

Well, I became hooked. Now, I'm like "Tamilee who?" For the first time EVER I had found cardio workouts that I didn't get bored with. And they didn't aggravate my bursitis!
