I have the Brazil Butt Lift workouts (vs. Brazilian butt lift, which is a plastic surgery procedure) and I like them. They definitely hit the right spots! And in spite of the pain they cause
, they have a low dread factor.
The instructor is very enthusiastic, and a bit over-the-top at times, but it's obvious he knows his stuff.
The workouts are all fairly short (30-40 minutes, with one 15-minute ab workout), but they pack quite a punch in that time: there's no downtime, and you move from one exercise to the next without spending too much time on any one.
There are lots of squat and lunge variations, without feeling like you're doing a lot of squats and lunges.
I found several of the exercises surprisingly challenging, because they require balance and coordination. I have DBDOMS (deep butt DOMS, LOL!) after pretty much every workout, but they don't just work the glutes: I notice that my knees feel more stable since starting the program (the balance moves, I presume, help work the stabilizing muscles around the knee).
I'm not sure about the question as to whether these are traditional exercises "you could do at home"? It IS an at-home workout system. There are a lot of ballet-inspired moves, but it's not boring (at least IMO) like a barre workout can be.
If you're looking to work your glutes without overworking the quads, like the results of barre work but might not like barre workouts, and feel like you need some help with the bum-bum (pronounced "boom boom"), I'd say you might find the workouts worth it.
Personally, I find they are worth it to me (but I just got the basic kit: for me, the add-ons in the deluxe kit weren't worth it).
HTH!
