Alpha Omega Check-In (Mon, 6/8- Sun, 6/14)

“The Sovereign LORD is my strength.." (Habakkuk 3:19)

Iris, thanks for the info on CLX. The more I read about the workout, the more I think I wouldn't like it too much though, particularly because of the heavy lifting. It's just not my thing. I tried Turbo Jam today though!! I did Learn and Burn again (I tried it once many weeks ago) and then I did the mini-workout that follows. It was so much fun!! I previewed Turbo Sculpt too and it's a lot like SI6, but with much better music and more energy! I'm really looking forward to these workouts, so thanks!! :D The flowers you picked out sound nice and pretty! Flowers always brighten things up. I hope you are doing okay at work today. Did you make any decisions on PT for your shoulder?

Jen, your new haircut sounds nice! I love the look and feel of a nice trim, or even a new style completely! It's always fun! I am due for a trim myself! How was the rest of your weekend?

Today's workout was Turbo Jam "Learn & Burn", followed by "Slim & Six Pack" (10 minute ab workout from SI6) and a nice stretch with "Slim & Limber". I also went for a 3 mile walk. I plan to do some cleaning for the rest of the day.

Have a blessed day to all! :)

Hello Friends,
Stopping by before I read for class. My new instructor actually posted a "human like" thread to me so there is a GOD. Thank GOD for rest, for shopping, and for new hair. My hair is reshaped and cut by 5." Tonight, I am thinking positive about school. BTW, my company actually posted a profit this past month.

Hello Christine & Jen,

Work was ok, but I'm feeling stressed with all of my upcoming renewals before vacation. I have one renewal that's going to be a little complicated, and the Account Exec. won't let me do anything on it in preparation because we have competition on the account this year, and may not renew it. My thinking is, it's better to be prepared, even if we don't get it, but my hands are tied. The office was also abuzz today over a new mystery employee. No one has given us much info. on what he will be doing, so rumors are flying. Some think he could be a consultant hired to implement a plan on who to let go, etc. I say, I can't worry about all of that. I'll just continue to do my job as always, and leave the rest in the Lord's hands.

Christine, I myself am not exactly looking forward to starting CLX. Part of it is that I still have some shoulder pain, but the other is, I just don't feel that urge to do such a rotation at this time. I'm glad you are liking the Turbo Jam's. I remember when I first got them. I did a rotation using T.J. exclusively for cardio, and I had some really good results. Those workouts definitely work the abs.

Jen, can you post a picture of you with your new haircut? I bet it looks great :)

My workout at the gym today, was very intense. I have not taken this class since I first joined the gym, since I was busy with STS. This class is called "30/30". You do 30 minutes of cardio, followed by 30 minutes of weight-lifting. Some compound moves and also some ab work at the end. For cardio we used the step, and she had us doing all kinds of crazy fast moves on it. I made the mistake of using risers on mine. Oh my goodness, I think I understand what people mean when they refer to a puke in the bucket kind of workout. I definitely went anarobic a few times. I feel really tired now.

I'm off to do a little reading now. Check in with you again tomorrow :)

Hello Ladies.
Sorry no picture, I don't have a digital camera to use and to download pics. That might be a future purchase after I graduate.
Iris, mystery employee? Your work sounds like mine. Not sure if it's good to keep things under wraps but it makes management feel good. Preparation is always good.
Christine. Have fun working out.
Tonight, posting today for school and possible quizzes.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Matthew 6:27)

Jen, how is your day going? What is the weather like by you? We've been having some pretty severe thunderstorms here all day!

Iris, did you find out who the "mystery" employee is at work yet? You're right to not even worry about it, it's all in the Lord's hands! I can tell that TJ really works the abs! I'm working on getting the moves down better - especially "the pump", LOL. I'm sure with time it will be easier! It's so much fun regardless! Your 30/30 class sounds fun. I know you mentioned that class once before and it sounded interesting. Are you sore today?

Today's workout was Turbo Sculpt and the 20 minute cardio workout. Turbo Sculpt moved a bit fast for me and I used 3lb weights so I didn't feel it so much in my biceps. I want to use 5lbs next time around but I'm afraid it will be too difficult with all the constant movement. Compound moves aren't my favorite because I like to concentrate on the muscle I'm working and when I work two at a time, I feel I don't get as good of a burn. In any event, I did enjoy it and I LOVED the 20 minute cardio!! I like Chalean, she is a lot of fun!

I went to the mall for a bit today and found a dress to wear for my brother-in-law's wedding at the end of the month. That was one of my purchase goals for today so I'm happy! I got it for cheap at TJ Max too, so that made me even happier! :D I made it home before it started pouring rain again! Iris, did you get that really loud, window rattling thunder last night!?

Blessings to all! :)

We had our rain the past two days and more coming. It's colder here today so studying isn't so bad and a short walk.
TJ Max is a hard store for me to shop at just like Kohl's. Younkers and Macys is quite easy though.

Hello Christine & Jen,

We finally got a little break from all the rain. Christine, that was some thunder last night into this morning.

It's been soo long since I've checked out Turbo Sculpt, that I don't really remember much about it. I really like the 20 minute workout. I have used it often as an add-on. Compound moves aren't a favorite of mine either, but I'm learning to do my own thing, so I work only one body part, instead of two, where needed. I am sore today from yesterday's workout. Especially my calves. I guess I'm not used to step workouts anymore. That instructor had soo much energy. I received some depressing news at the gym today. My favorite instructor is leaving. She was very emotional about it, but explained to us, that her family was suffering because of her crazy teaching schedule. She said something had to give, and unfortunately it's us. It's a shame because this is my favorite class. She always keeps things new, while Thursday's instructor repeats the same choreo every week. Well, I guess I can hope that they get someone nearly as good. The girl who teaches 30/30 would be great for teaching kickboxing too, but I doubt she would be able to work another night. She has 3 little ones.

We still don't know much about the mystery employee at work. He doesn't come out of his office much either. Very strange.

Hi Jen, how are you? It's almost time for the basketball game, lol. My son got me into basketball, and now I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when the season is over, lol.

Have a great night ladies.

"He [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:15-17)

Hi Iris! How is your day going? I'm sorry to hear you're losing your favorite instructor at the gym! I applaud her for chosing family time over teaching though. It sounds like she is torn up about it, and understandably so, but she made the right decision for her family. I know she's the one you really liked who switched up her KB routines, right? Maybe the other instructor always uses the same choreography because it takes too much time to constantly switch it up. I hope they hire someone you like who will challenge you!

Hi Jen! It is much easier to stay inside and do school work when the weather is cold and rainy! Whenever it's nice out, I always want to be outside! :) I have a hard time shopping at TJ Max/Marshalls too because I'm not a big fan of taking the time to pick through all the clothing. I figured I'd give it a try because I could head straight for the "dresses" department. They didn't have too many in my size so it didn't take me too long to shop. I do like Kohl's but lately I haven't found much that I like there.

Today's workout was Turbo Jam's Cardio Party. It was so much fun!! I also did Slim & Six Pack and the extended stretch from Slim & Limber. My husband is off today so we may go for a walk later, not sure yet.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Prayer Request. I am just frustrated with my life. School, work, and lack of a close relationship with a good man. I've been talking to GOD alot lately letting HIM know that I cannot do it on my own anymore although I don't have time for it all.

Hello Christine & Jen,

This has been a late day for me. I didn't get home until late, and was tempted to blow off my workout, but ended up doing "Muscle Max", Upper body portion. Still can't do push-ups or tricep dips, so I skipped those exercises, but my shoulder is improving.

Christine, yes, the instructor that's leaving, is the one I really like. She has soo much energy, and she never does the same routine, so you always wonder what she has up her sleeve when you go to her class. I'm just worried that they'll put a lame class in it's place to fill the slot. I had checked this gym out a little over a year ago, and this KB class was taught by an instructor who used to work at my previous gym, and she had told us that she knew nothing about kickboxing. Suddenly here we were just a couple months later at this new gym, and she's teaching kickboxing. She definitely was just starting out, and her class was not challenging at all. I'm really going to miss Andrea's classes. She told us she'll still be teaching her bootcamp class on Saturday mornings until they replace her, but I've only gone to that class once. I usually don't have enough energy for a bootcamp class soo early in the morning. I realize why Thursday's instructor doesn't change up the routine much. Anytime she tries to throw a different combo in, the women get lost. I guess she figures, let me just give them what they know. But that gets old for me quick. I have to say, my calfs are still soo sore from Monday's step class. I guess I'll be taking that class from now on, lol.

Which Turbo Jam did you do, the regular Cardio Party? or the 20 Minute one? The original Cardio Party really works the lower body. How'd you like those squat side to side and kick, then squat front/back & kick? I forget how challenging that workout can be. It's a good one. They're fun workouts too.

Jen, I'm praying for you. I can certainly understand your frustration. God will get you through this :)

One more thing before closing. Yesterday I got a call from my daughter's shool. One of the kids in her school was diagnosed with the swine flu. Unfortunately, the kid had been going to the doctor since Thursday or Friday of last week, and the doctor thought it was just an upper respiratory infection. I guess they didn't get the results until yesterday morning that the kid actually had the swine flu. Apparently the kid has been cleared to return to school, and actually by the time the diagnosis came, he or she was already all better. Today my daughter was out sick, with a cold, and one of her friends told her that there were 75 kids absent today. Most from 7th & 8th grade. Apparently the kid who had the flu is in 8th gr. I think my daughter's is just a cold. One of the girls she was hanging out in Boston with was sick throughout the trip, and now all t he kids are dropping likeflies. I'm trusting in the lord, that she won't be affected by this flu :)

Have a great night ladies.

Thanks for your prayers. I am feeling a bit better today but I need something positive to happen in substantial way. My academic counselor at school is concerned about the new prof in my class because the old one dropped. It has been a rough transition. Tonight, I hope to be more social.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

Hi Jen! I'm glad you are feeling better today! I know how hard it can be when we are waiting on the Lord for some work in our lives. Just know He's there and hears your prayers and will carry you through!

Hi Iris! Yikes, how is your daughter doing? That's pretty scary about the swine flu, but it seems to be pretty harmless in most cases, so that's a good thing. All the reports I heard of death were in people who already had compromised immune systems.

I know what you mean about the same routine getting old after a while! :p I like a challenge myself and would love it if the instructor mixed things up at least every now and then. I guess, like you said, she is catering to the women who prefer the same routine so as not to get confused. It's too bad because after a while they will stop receiving any benefits because their bodies will have adjusted to the routine! I hope you get a good replacement instructor!

I did the regular Cardio Party yesterday, I think it was like 40 minutes. It was so much fun!! And yes, that squat combo kicked my butt! It took me a few tries to catch on to what she was doing though. By the end I was breathless and dripping sweat! :)

Today is an OFF day for me. I did 1/2 of "Cool it Off", which is an hour long stretching workout from Slim Series. I got all my stretches in but skipped the stabilization exercises. It feels good to relax. No walk today, it's still raining!

I hope you both had a great day! Blessings to all!

Hello Ladies,
Today is a better day. My team has gotten closer so we should be able to pull it off in two weeks. Work was OK. Not thinking so much of the man down south either. Some jobs are starting to open up down there that I could possibly do.

Hi Ladies,

Posting before the basketball game starts. I've never been into BB until just his past month. They are fun to watch.

Christine, T.J. workouts were a little bit of a learning curve for me at first, but once you get them, you will find them easy to follow.

My daughter is much better today. It definitely is just a cold, today she's pretty much herself again. Thank god.

Jen, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better today :)

For my workout today, I went to the gym and took the kickboxing class. Unfortunately, I don't burn as many calories with this class anymore. I had pretty good energy though which is good. My legs have been sore since Monday's step class. I can't believe it.

Have a great night ladies..

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." (John 14:1)

Jen, yes - TGIF! Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Iris, how was your day? I'm glad your daughter is feeling better and it wasn't anything more serious than a cold!

You reminded me that I haven't done step in so long! I am excited to see how sore my legs get once I do another step workout. I am loving Turbo Jam! I can see how there is a bit of a learning curve though.

Today's workout was Total Body Blast. I don't know what to make of this one. What do you think of it, Iris? Overall I did like it. It really got my heart rate up and worked my legs and abs big time. It just didn't do much for my arms. Maybe I will feel it tomorrow from holding the ball for an hour?! :p I followed it up with a stretch from Slim & Limber.

I went to the shelter this morning and found out my favorite cat got adopted. I was soooo sad, but happy for her. Her name is Carly and she was there with her kittens. She would just lay in your arms like a baby and purr! She reminded me a lot of a cat I had that died, who was very special to me. I guess that's why I liked Carly so much! I'm glad she has a loving home now.

Any plans for the weekend? We're going to my sister's house tomorrow for a BBQ, I'm looking forward to that!

Have a great night ladies! :)

Hello Ladies,

Jen, I'm with you TGIF. This was a long tough week. Glad the weekend is here now :)

Christine, I don't remember a whole lot about Total Body Blast, other than that it wasn't one of my favorites, lol. I think I found some of the moves a little awkward to do with a big stability ball. I do remember doing it once with a medicine ball. I'll have to check that one out again soon.

I can understand you feeling bad at not seeing Carly at the shelter when you went today, but at least she found a home :) That is definitely a good thing :)

I was feeling pretty tired today, so I opted to go to the gym and only do 30 minutes of cardio on the TM & Ellipt. That was definitely all I could handle today.

Christine, have a great time at your sister's tomorrow. Hope the weather holds out :)

Have a great night & weekend ladies :)

iris, your kids are still in school?

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself" (Luke 10:27)

Welcome, Cathy (Drover)! How nice of you to post! I'm sorry if you've posted in the past and I didn't remember, it's just that we haven't had anyone else join us in a very long time! I'm glad you like the scripture versus that are shared here, and good for you for sharing your testimony with others! I hope to see you posting some more with us! :)

Iris, yes the Total Body Blast workout was a bit akward at times using the ball and I felt my lower back starting to bother me. I can't say it's my favorite TJ workout either, but today my biceps are sore!! I guess holding the ball really did work my arms!

How is your son doing? Has he given any thought to going back to school? Any job prospects?

Jen, any plans for the weekend? How has school been?

Today's workout was Turbo Jam's "Punch, Kick & Jam". It was sooo much fun and such a great workout! I really like this one! I also went for a 2.7 mile walk. My husband has to work today until noon and then we're off to our BBQ.

Have a great weekend ladies!

Thank GOD for weekends, Friday was a rough day for me at work. I found a problem which caused many others that day. A little depressed yesterday and this morning but doing better. Procrastion is my reason why my paper hasn't started yet.
Cathy-Congrats on doing your Testimony yesterday. People need to hear how HE is working in your life as inspiration.
Christine-Enjoy your BBQ. It is your reward for working out.
Iris-It's good that you are listening to your body. Stress does make one tired too.

My new show inspiration is "You Are What You Eat" from BBC-America from The Biggest Loser. Plus, the show, "How Not to Decorate," is fun too.
