40s - Memorial Day week

Hi everyone, thought I'd get a new thread started for this week. Saturday I did KM even the leg cond drills, then for some reason my back is really tight, so Sunday I did 4DS total UB premix, and Monday, still with the back so did nothing. But I did do about an hour of yardwork and thought of Mary :)

Kathryn, good to see you here, what an accomplishment with the kids and your daughter on to middle school.

Mary, the beach? where is there a beach near you? Maybe I forgot where you live.

Ronne, did you have fun on your nice long weekend too?

Murphy, feeling better? Any crazy workouts?

I've set up the hammock and it has my name on it for the rest of the day (that is until the high winds kick in that they are forecasting).

Good Evening Ladies,

I am hoping that you will accept a new member into your group? The ones I check in now are almost done so I need to find another support group. I am 46 years old married and I have a DD 26 married and getting ready to start her family and another DD 23 who hasn't figured stuff out yet. DH and I are empty nesters and I really like it that way. I workout to other instructors as well as Cathe. Tonite DH and I went for a bike ride and we completed the first 7 of 10 miles when I got a flat tire on my bike so we had to walk it 3 miles to the car. It was hot and windy and my poor legs were tired. Thank You for allowing me to be a part of your group.

Hi girls! Happy Tuesday! It is hot here today! 90's and humid. Not sure what I will do today cardio? Weights? Combo? Lisa, my in laws own a beach home nearby, we live by Lake Erie in Cleveland. A hammock sounds wonderful! Welcome Roxie! Murphy, are you recovered? Ronne, what are you up to? Kathryn, what are you and the kids up to? DH and I are both off today, we are going to go see Hangover 2. Will let you know how it is! Hope everyone has a good day! Mary

Good Morning Ladies,

Tonite DH and I are going to watch youngest DDs BFs child so they can go see Hangover 2. The child is 2 years old and doesn't mind very well so this should be interesting.

Hi everyone! Today I did Kettlebells using Kettlebell Way DVD. It's been like a year since I've done that one, and oh boy am I out of shape using kettlebells!

Mary, ah, the beach is the lake :) I was floored when I moved to CO from FL and they called the beach here what was a reservior!

Welcome Roxie! Glad to have you, Mary and I are 46 too (our birthdays are in Aug and Sept so we will are cruising toward 47 -- me first too!). I have 2 boys, 22 and 19. I'm almost an empty nester, I do enjoy when they were both gone to college, but I also like when they are home too. You are nice babysitting like that, not sure I would, in fact, right now I tell everyone that I'm not interested in watching their kids as I'm taking a break between my own kids and the soon to be grandkids someday :)

Lisa-my birthday is Sept 1 so I too am cruising to 47. I don't really want to watch the kid because I need to workout however this is ther 1 year dating anniversary and the longest relationship she has ever had so I am trying to be nice.

Roxy, all our birthdays are right in the same time, so far I'm still the oldest :(, my birthday is Aug 14, and Mary's is sometime in Sept (sorry Mary I can't remember it right now, must be because I'm ALMOST 47 !!!:D )

Hi all. I am feeling much better. Funny, I still get a bit of the vertigo. The doctor thinks it is a calcium build up in my ear and gave me an "exercises" to do to dislodge it. I don't get the time to do them fully. The exercise requires laying down and at least 5 minutes of uninterrupted time - like that will ever happen! I think I will have to call him back and ask for a pill. I keep meaning to ask the pharmacist but my grocercy store does not have a pharmacy and I keep forgetting to go elsewhere - it is not on my route.
The vertigo messes with the cardio. I can walk but this heat is making it difficult. Anyway, I met with the trainer on Monday and tried the THX (?) system. It was okay and I can see some benefit to it. With that said, I am a little disappointed that I am not sore today, I was hoping for some DOMS but there isn't any. I wonder if my muscles will only respond to Cathe now. :) I have two more sessions with the trainer and then I am done.

Welcome Roxie.

Lisa - my birthday is Aug 4th. I will be 42 this year.

Mary - hello.

Hi to all who follow.

Murphy, my DH gets episodes of vertigo also, usually in the spring with the change of weather. Anyway, his doc recommended to go to a neurologist to have the "maneuvers" done to dislodge whatever is misaligned in his ear. He tried to do the exercises himself, but they just made him dizzier! They usually give him some pills and it works like a charm! Lisa, you have a good memory! My b-day is Sept., 24th! Murphy is stll the baby tho! By the way I did PH today, I was in a puddle when I was done! It is 93! Also, we really enjoyed the movie! Very funny! Mary

Good Evening Ladies,

Really hot here today after supper I am going to go do wts. I did KCM 30mins to Wts. and 10min Solution Belly Fat Blaster. I ended up not babysitting the BF doesn't like him coming over afraid he will break something.

Murphy-I have what they call benign postural vertigo and it hits every once in a while like the last 3 weeks and I take Meclizine which you can buy in the tylenol section of Walmart but its only 12.5mg if you ask at the pharmacy you can get 25mg pills and it helps alot. They tell me the only way to fix mine is to make myself dizzy.

Hi everyone

I've been AWOL again thanks to school holidays! Did get a couple of workouts in at the weekend but none Mon or Tues as we went out. Weather's been lousy - it rained all day Monday but we still went for a walk anyway!
I'm on a deadline again - got three days to get this job done and handed over.
Did Kickbox Surge premix today. Felt pretty good.

Lisa - I like the sound of the hammock! Did you get to it in the end? Amy Bento's got two new kettlebell workouts coming out if you're interested.

Mary - oooh, that temperature sounds lovely! Perhaps you should just sit out in the garden after spending all that time working in it!

Murphy - glad to hear that it's getting sorted out. No wonder you've been feeling rubbish. What is THX?

Roxie - welcome to the group. I'm in the middle - I'm 44 and my birthday's in October. I've got one DD who's 10 and I live in the UK.

Bye for now.

Hello ladies, I ran 5.25 miles today and now I have a headache, not sure if the run caused it or the loud music in my ears :p I did go home with a headache yesterday so something (maybe weather) must be causing them. Not liking that! But I am proud I did the run, cuz I sooooo did not want to do it, and 1/2way through I was like, I'm not gonna make it to my goal of 5 miles, then at the 4.25 mile mark I knew I could make it and then before I knew it (cuz I got sucked into a song) I had 5.25 miles, ha!

Ronne, OH the hammock has been divine! I got home last night and after a quick dinner from the slow cooker I went and read in it again. Now though it's gonna be in the 90's so not sure if it will be cool enough, depends if there is a breeze. I really miss not having my doggie around when I'm in it though, in fact I think that's why I avoided the backyard all last summer, it just hurt too much to be back there without my Maddy. I know one day (when the time is right) I want another sheltie. Right now with work and traveling (we plan to go to Europe some day) it isn't fair to a dog as I want to bond with it the way I did my Maddy. My glutes is feeling the kettlebell workout from yesterday, I might have to check out Amy's workouts.

Mary, I'm always a puddle it seems lately. I'm a really great sweater. In fact the girls like to take a walk around the buildings at work (inside) and I'm sweating at the end of our 20 min walk. I never used to be THIS bad, maybe it's the whole temperature regulation thing with hormones and getting older?

Murphy, I hope you find something to help your dizziness, how frustrating.

Roxie, do you workout at night after work? I have no energy after a whole day in the office so I know I HAVE to do it in the morning, however most days once I get in the office I feel like I've already run a marathon or something :) Only people that do Cathe would know how much work it is!

Hi all. Thanks for all of the tips regarding the vertigo. I think I will talk to the pharmacist and see what I can use. I did try the doctor's exercises and they did in fact help. There is just enough dizziness there to say that i still have it, but not enough to bother me like before.
I met with the trainer today. It was better than Monday, still using the TRX thing. It is definetly a different work out than the weights. It will be interesting to see how things feel when I go back to the weights.

Ronne - TRX is a suspension training system. It is a nylon rope/strap/band thing that allows you to do a ton of exercises using only your body weight. It seems to work a lot of muscles at once - the big ones as well as the small ones we tend to forget. I don't mean the bi's and tri's, I mean all of the bicep muscles, big and small. It is interesting.

Good Morning ladies,

Tonite I was going to go for a walk but thunderstorms are starting to roll in so I don't think that is going to happen unless I walk on the TM.

Lisa-I am not a morning person, my DH gets up between 1-2am to go to work and he doesn't here his alarm clock so I don't get a full nights sleep. When he is out of town I try to get up in the morning. The hammock sounds like fun. I have had a sheltie twice and they are wonderful dogs. Now I am stuck with DDs dog which is part beagle part corgie.

Hi girls! Just did the TM, not as long as Lisa, 4 miles. I had to do field day at youngest DS school this am. I was on the bubble pool. I think I ate more bubbles than the kids! It was so beautiful seeing all the kids waving bubble wands and they were blowing all over! Murphy, that TRX thing sounds hard! Do you feel it? Lisa, impressive on the 5 miles! I wanted to stop after 2! Ronne, is your DD out of school for summer? Mine finish next week. Roxie, I can't work out in the early morning either. I have to wait until my body wakes up. Well, the house is calling my name again. I better get busy! Talk to you tomorrow, Mary

Good Evening,

Tonite I started to walk in the park did the first 1/2 mile then it started to lightening and cut loose an pour so I gave it up and came home and walked on the TM for 2 miles.

Hi everyone! Today did CTX, the kickboxing. I really like that one! Today DH and I are going to go to some garage sales, never know whatvyou can find. He likes to do estate sales, those kind of creep me out because you know the person died or had to go to a nursing home and here we are going through all their stuff. I hope everyone has a good day! Mary

Good Mornin,

Survived the storms last night but now alot of people are dealing with flooding is it ever going to stop. Tonite I am going to do KCMs 30min to Wts. and some ab work.

Mary-good job with your workout.

Hi all, today I didn't have much energy (must have used it all yesterday on those 5.25 miles :p ) so I only did the UB portion of push pull (hardly felt like I worked out at all) and then Core Max seg 1.

Mary, enjoy your garage sales, I'm not patient enough to sift through those to find the treasures :)

Roxie, What a wild spring with some of the storms this year. I'm tucked in right next to the Rocky Mountains so not many tornados make it here thank goodness.

Hello everyone

Murphy - I like the sound of that TRX thing. Sounds good.

Lisa - sometimes it's nice to have an easy day. It reminds you how fit you are - you can sail through a Cathe premix!! :D

Mary - no DD's on half term, she doesn't finish till the third week of July. I've got a bit more time yet before I need to plan the holidays. She's doing a sport thing for three days, doing different sports each day - right up her street. Have you got any plans for the school holidays? You're off as well, right?

Roxie - those storms sound bad.

Today I did Lower Intensity Circuit premix from 4DS. It was good, not too demanding. Weather's got a bit better here and it's quite sunny. Hope it lasts to the weekend.
