Cathe,

I have posted on open forum and gotten good advice but still am seeing no changes so I thought I would ask the expert. I have gained 10lbs the past two yrs from 38-40yrs old. I could always lose the wt before by increasing exercise and decreasing my food intake. well that isnt working anymore. I have tried the diabetic diet, modified south beach diet, not cutting carbs to the extent that they call for and I have increased my exercise from 5 days a week to 6. adding in more wts ,not really heavy wts but high rep , low wt. I did try to heavy for a month and got really bulky, especially my legs so I went to high reps.low wt. I dont feel as puffy now but I have also decreased how much I am eating and trying to eat protein with each meal. 3 meals with 2 snacks a day. trying to stay around 1800 calories. I just started interval training last week and hope i get results from this type of workout. I currently run several days a week, teach a bootcamp class 1-2x week and added an extra total body wt workout, not heavy 1x a week. I dont know why my body just wont let go of any of this wt and I am really getting frustrated and feel like giving up. I could always get the wt off and havent been able to the past two yrs. please help! thank you.

Hi! I'm obviously not Cathe, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth... For what it's worth... I had my third child a little over a year ago, and was 35 at the time. I had a very very VERY tough time shaking the weight... Still am clinging to the last 15 pounds (out of the 55 I gained ), and my doc said it was hormone related. I believe mine was because I had had my third child/ gone off of the pill (because I had a tubal ligation) and had hit my mid-30s... I think there's a magic age for a lot of women where the hormones shift. You may want to get your gyn to test your hormones just to see if everything is balanced out... Sounds like you've tried everything else. Good luck!!! :)

thanks, I was wondering if it could be my hormones too. I go in april to my gyn and Im gonna say something to him. I am getting really frustrated . I have been having hot flashes alot lately, hopefully not early menopause. thanks again.
