    Women's Clothing Size

I have a friend who refuses to wear anything unless the size on it says 4 or lower, so she ends up paying a lot more for her clothing at overpriced boutiques than does another friend who mostly shops at bargain retailers, and whose clothing says a larger size even though she's actually smaller...

    S&H Dumbell Wt size?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-02 AT 12:06PM (Est)[p]My 3-12# pairs are all neoprene-covered, and the the plate mates do attach to them! :) I've never actually worked out with neoprenes + platemates, so I don't know if they could fall off easier, but it was a funny discovery. I'm surprised the magnets...

    S&H Dumbell Wt size?

I always make sure each dumbbell weighs the same as its mate (I put the platemate on the same side for symmetry), and I've never felt unbalanced. I probably would if the thing weighed 5 lbs. :)

    S&H Dumbell Wt size?

For chest I use anywhere from 15-22½. Back is 20-22½. Legs are 45-50# barbell, 12# dumbbells for pre-exhaust. Shoulders are 8-10. Rotator is 5, although I'm wishing I had 4's--those just fry me! Arms vary widely: 8-15 lbs. depending on the exercise. I love my plate mates! Janice is...

    Compare I-Max to Running

RE: Well, yes and no... LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-02 AT 02:26AM (Est)[p] It is true that taller people generally have a longer stride, but shorter people generally have a higher leg turnover. From everything I've read over the years, height isn't much of a factor in speed. I guess this body was...

    Compare I-Max to Running

RE: Whoa.... LAST EDITED ON Sep-27-02 AT 10:16AM (Est)[p]Unfortunately, running speed has nothing to do with height. :/ I'm a tall woman, and 6 mph is nearly a sprint for me (I'm about 40-some # overweight). I'll receive IMax on Monday. Something tells me I need to stay away from that one!

    Pre Sale DVD's

Hi Apryl, They haven't decided yet, but they said they'd announce it once they do. I just pre-ordered on Sunday, but I know a lot of people would like to find out so they can budget for it.

    1 lb. weight increments

One option is plate mates. They're 1.25 lbs each, and hold on to the ends of your dumbbells by magnets. I'm guessing this probably doesn't work if your dumbbells are covered in neoprene or vinyl, but they work great on hexes. They're sold at fwonline.com, and I got mine at a local home...

    Bollinger Super Step

RE: Good reasons for buying the "super step".... You know, I was doing Karen Voight's Cardio|Strength a few weeks ago for the first time, and I noticed she was only using the base (of the Super Step) so I just used the base of my normal step company step (4"). I thought it was odd that no...

Endurance question - Cathe and All....

Chiming in here. I do believe that tendency toward a high heart rate can be genetic even in very active people. I'm exactly your height, 5 years younger, but much heavier, and my RHR is very low these days. It used to be over 90 bpm (lying down first thing in the morning), but for me...

Too heavy to start running?? help

I'm currently 5'8" and 207 lbs., and I run 4 mornings/week, but I was over 240 lbs. when I started back in September. I went to my doctor first, which I really suggest, and she gave me a green light with a caution sticker to stick to a conservative plan, lay off at the first sign of joint...
