    Back Home Again!

welcome back, and I so hear you on the stomach virus. Same thing hit our family all the way up in Chicoutimi (Northern Quebec) as we visited the in-laws. yuck. Hope you're all on the mend, and I am looking forward to my new DVD's SOOOO much! thanks for all your very hard work, Christine

    Lower Body Pyramid...

So how does it work in terms of changing weights during the pyramid...? Do they have 3 loaded barbells, or are there changes between each set? How about rests? Sorry to be asking so many questions...I'm (im)patiently waiting for my DVD's!! Christine

    STARVING after workouts!

I've also started, on the advice of some of the people here, eating before my workout. I realise not everyone can do this (some get an upset stomach) but I've had no problem with it. I eat a slice of toast with peanut butter and it seems to stabilize my blood sugar so I'm not ravenous...

    I'm such a load

I know you're kind of kidding, but don't be too hard on yourself! I find it really hard to get the workouts in at this time of year for many of the reasons you gave: it's too dark to run outside, I feel really confined to the house, and the last couple of weeks I've been so stressed with the...

    First day of TTOTM

For me it is the exact day 1 week before it "strikes" that is the worst...if I check my journal, I always have a really "weak" day one week before TTOM. If it's a run, it's always a really hard to complete run, if it's a weight day. I always find I have to lighten up a bit or struggle through...

    step height for Imax?

phew...6" does indeed kick my butt...but not on every interval. The hard ones are still hard (you know the ones...the airborne jumps, the plyo jacks, the power scissors and the last one still slay me), but some of the others actually feel semi-easy now. And the hard intervals are not even on...

    step height for Imax?

Okay, I have to know...what step height do you all use for Imax? I have been feeling really proud of myself that I can get through that sucker, no modifications...but I NEVER use higher than 6" for any step workout....should I (gulp) be trying to do this on 8"??? Oh! Other than knee health...

    Slow and Heavy: 2 sets?

Hi Cathe, I noticed you have been popping in lately and wanted to bump this in case you might have an opinion on whether doing slow and heavy in this fashion will help me to add some bulk...(note: I am definitely noticing some size increase in my shoulders and biceps...looking for some better...

    Medicine balls in Canada

There are a few fitness depot's in Toronto, that's where I got mine (not cheap-$40 or so for 2.2 kg). I would think they would also have them at fitness source which is a great store, there's one on Yonge around Lawrence in Toronto. Christine

    Fear of weights?

I'm fortunate, I guess, in that I would rather do weights, although I do like cardio too. The best reason for me for doing weights, aside from the obvious bone building stuff, is I hope if I keep lots of muscle mass on my body as I age, that I'll always be able to eat heartily. I hate to think...

Does this mean I should do less intensity???

There may also be an issue here that you were tested on a stationary bike. If cycling is not normally your thing, you may have had to exert yourself more to do it...I know when I go back to my bike after the winter, I am amazed by how hard it is, all over again, when I've become unaccustomed to...

    Slow and Heavy: 2 sets?

Just checking in to say thanks for the input, and I will check in periodically with progress reports. In general, I find that I build strength very quickly, so this should be interesting, esp. interested to see if there is any noticeable size increase. I was able to make it through Circuitmax...

    Don't see a change

RE: Elvis' fried peanut butter and banana sandwich Have to agree with yen that 3 months is not really all that long! I have been doing almost exclusively Cathe for about 9 months now...and it took a while to see results, and it also took, like in yen's case (and Connie mentioned this too)...

    Medicine Ball weight...

Hi Patricia, I got my medicine ball in Toronto at Fitness depot (leaside), I think it cost $45 or so. They probably have them also at Fitness source, there's one on Yonge near Lawrence. FWIW, I have a 4 pound med ball. I use it for Mindy's strength express, and will use it with these new...

    Slow and Heavy: 2 sets?

I know cathe's busy so if anyone has an opinion, I'd love to hear it! I have started a slow and heavy rotation this week that I plan on following for 4 weeks, until the new DVD's come (drool, pant). But I am doing only 2 sets instead of three of each exercise, and in some cases where Cathe...

    Body falling apart, help!!!

Tight legs, especially hamstrings, inevitably leads to lower back pain for me. I always have to do extra stretching of my hamstrings and quads after every workout, and even try to stretch throughout the day, ie, at bathroom breaks! This helps me alot, Christine

    i'm a lost cause

I would have to quote Cathe here: "don't be afraid to use heavy weights, they do nice things for you". Maybe you need to increase the amount of weight you're lifting, Christine
