I can't speak to it as part of a weight loss journey...mine was from 2 pregnancies...but I had a full tummy tuck 2 years ago. Best. Decision. Ever. I don't know if you have kids or if you'd had a C-section. If so, tummy tuck surgery and recovery is almost identical. I can honestly say, post...

    Interesting article on pushups

It's interesting that the article says slowing down makes the pushup harder. That logically makes sense to me. But when I'm mid workout, and I can't keep up with Cathe going "at tempo", I'll usually do sets of 2/2 instead of singles. So if Cathe does 16 singles, I'll do 8 in 2/2 pace. I find...

    Rant - Gender Discrimination

I'm sorry you're so frustrated. I live in this world as well. And like you, I mostly let it roll off of me, marveling at the idiocy of some men. Your car dealer story was particularly fun...the last time I bought a car, during the test drive I was shown a) the mirror that flips down on the...

    Travel Question

Why not just buy them there? That's what we've started doing when travelling internationally. It's easier and then you don't have to tote 10 days worth of product with you...much less the mess. Head into any Farmacia once you get there...they're everywhere on the streets...and pick up...

    Step Height

I have to imagine you'd lose calorie burn if you decreased to 4". I know that if I do the same workout on an 8" step vs a 6" step, I burn around an extra 100 calories.

    Heart Rate Monitor

I just got a Polar FT140 for Christmas. LOVE it!

CrossFire and To The Max Premixes?

I've never done the whole DVD (To the Max). In fact, I rarely do all of a Cathe workout from beginning to end. I tend to prefer the premixes. For TTM, I kind of make my own. I do all 3 tabatas, and the HiiT routine. I HATE HATE HATE the solid step work. My legs can't take that many...

    Military press

Personally, as someone that struggled with "big flabby arms" my entire life...I found that it didn't matter at all what kind of work I was doing. Genetics for me = big flabby arms that were disproportionately larger than other body parts. High reps/light weight high reps/heavy weight low...

    Perimenopause-what has worked for me

I've been reading the other post about this as well. I'm on the cusp of peri, and tyring to prepare myself best. But what I seem to be reading, more than anything, is that it's about diet and being strict. Less about WHAT...that seems to vary for everyone. More about LESS. So my...

Maintaining current level of fitness through pregnancy

Ditto. Worked out to the very end with both of my kids...at the same intensity for the most part. I did the High Step Challenge (a favorite) the week I delivered my second. Modify where you need to. Stop if it doesn't feel good. Basic rules of thumb. Doctors know very little about how...

    cross fit

...and as someone else mentioned, you can find a LOT of stuff on You Tube without having to go to a gym. All from certified trainers that walk you through doing it at home.

    cross fit

I have several friends who are LOYAL to it, and they are in amazing shape. Yes, with only doing 10-15 minutes/work/day! I've tried a few of the workouts, and they are TOUGH. I still like Cathe...but some of the Cross Fit work is starting to take over for me.

    Questions on Pilates

Mari Winsor has a good series, and is my personal favorite. Pilates is a nice thing to incorporate into a routine, but if you want to build stregth and cardio, you'll need your Cathe, too. :)

Does Anyone Own a Polar Heart Rate Monitor?

I have the FT40 that I just got for Christmas. I love it! Easy to use, no issues with the chest strap for heartrate, etc... I pretty much only look for calories burned, and have been pleased with it so far.

Does anyone have a remedy for stiff neck?

Yes! That tells you that it's a muscular issue...not a skeletal issue. When you work out, your muscles are warm and active. Thus...not clamped down on your vertebrae. Once you cool off, they constricty and start pulling on the surrounding joints and fascia. That should also tell you that...

Does anyone have a remedy for stiff neck?

Pinched nerves in the next and upper back have actually become a "hobby" of mine, I get them so often. LOL. Heat will help the most. Then stretch. For heat...you need hotter than your average heating pad. I use a sweat sock, filled with converted rice. (Rice holds heat wonderfully!....I...

When do you skip a workout? + popping hip?

Hmmm, health wise, I work out through everything but headaches and nausea. Those 2 render me unable to function, usually. For me, the I take days off when a) my work schedule forces me to...which isn't often, or b) when my legs are FRIED with DOMS. If my legs are burned out, I find that it...

Question in rewards to High Reps DVD

I use High Reps as a cardio weight workout. Despite being all weights, it really does get my heart rate up. This one is one of my favorites! I do this workout when I'm doing a rotation of 3 days/ weights, 2 days/ cardio. Looks like this: Monday: High Reps Tuesday: HiiT Wednesday: Muscle...

How do you get 6 pack?

I had a full tummy tuck, including muscle repair, last year. I had sagging, loose skin, and while I didn't have diastasis recti, my muscles were so stretched out that I looked about 4 mos pregnant after my 2 kids. I can tell you that my tummy tuck was no more painful than my C section, and...
