Slow and heavy and pure strength questions

I am so glad this question was asked. I am in my second week of the Pure Strength and am LOVING it. I have done it before but this time I am really into it. I am doing each tape once a week along with Cardio and Weights in addition to an hour of cardio every day. I dropped a couple pounds...

    Gaining Weight Due to Lifting?

Not all doctors are "educated" in weight loss or weight training and exercise. Many look only to the scale to determine your health. I am in much better shape and health than I was 2 years ago when I was 6 pounds thinner. When my doc was feeling my abdomen, she said I was very trim (from...

    Hey Jek!! Cardio Kicks Rocks!!!

Cardio Kicks is my FAVORITE cardio workout. I tried Tae Bo a few years ago and found the advanced workout just too fast that you can't really work hard and on your form. I wasn't expecting to like this much more but all the moves are really intense and fun. I love feeling like a tough chick...

    Boot Camp

RE: medicine ball I have a medicine ball and used a dumbell when doing bootcamp. I think the ball is 8 pounds and Lorraine uses an 8 pound dumbell. I felt more comfortable with the dumbell because it was easier to hold.:-)

Cathe, I Work and I am in Grad school! Help!

When I was doing my coursework for my doctorate, I did shorter workouts. I kept that up and felt great. When it came time for my exams and the study period leading up to it I suspended my workouts for a month prior to taking the exams. For me, I needed every bit of energy for my studies. I...

Back to school season is batty

I am a high school music teacher. When I taught in public school, I spent a great deal of money. I had a couple hundred dollars to put on 4 major concerts, teach voice class and music theory. It's shocking how little the schools have. Now that I am back in a private school, I don't have that...

New Food Pyramid - and food for thought...

I LOVE this thread!!! All this talk of no-carb, no fat, no sugar with no mention of processed foods drives me mad!!!! I play the supermarket cart game all the time and notice the difference in my shopping cart compared to most people in front of me in line. When did we stray from "real"...

FROM THE FIRM WORK OUTS TO CATHE ANYONE

I started with BSS1 last year and discovered Cathe at the beginning of this year. I always worked out at the gym or my nordic track. I LOVE my Cathe workouts and have been doing them exclusively for the last few months. Recently, I pulled out my Firms for variety and they really kicked my...

    Tired all the time

I was thinking about this for myself! When I work out in morning and then have a busy teaching day, I sleep very well. If I work out in the morning but have a clear day (as in the summer) I am dragging around the rest of the day. I am trying to think of strategies to work this out. I like...

    benefits of bootcamp??

Bootcamp Angela's summarized the BC discussion on the Ya yas. I did Bootcamp a week ago for the first time and was sore the day after - especially in upper back and shoulder area from plank and oblique work. I did BC again two days later and felt stronger through the workout and was not sore...

    I can do bootcamp!

Hey there, Linda! I did BC for the first time on Friday and then again today! I LOVE this workout. I, too, cut out the last couple of terminator thrusts and on the first interval cut out the flying jacks - just kept doing regular jacks. I feel like a he-woman when I finish this. Over at Ya...

    What is it about Cathe...

I love her super professional, no nonsense and thorough approach and attention to detail. Though I like and still do some firm workouts, I am disappointed that the instructors do not use the weights they use when they themselves workout. When Cathe uses a 35 pound barbell, I am inspired to...
