    stability ball questions

I'm new to working out with "the ball" and have some questions. In Intensity Series, what size ball are you all using? I am about 5'4" and have a 55cm ball which was what was recommended for my height. The balls you all are using look bigger to me? Wasn't sure how tall you guys are and if...

    amount of weight used

Thanks jillybean. GOOD because I was getting really depressed thinking that she had 40 pounds plus the 15 or so pounds of the barbell. I know she's major stronger than I am and I don't try to do as much weight as "the pros" but, on the other hand, when she said she had 40 pounds "on her bar" (It...

    amount of weight used

Cathe, I know you have been asked this before, just can't remember your answer or find the old posts.... When you say "I have -----pounds on my bar" are you referring to the total weight of your bar and your weights or just the weights. For example in Power Hour you say you have 40pounds on...

    Firm Tapes have become ineffective

What other tapes you get sort of depends on what you want to accomplish with tapes vs. other activities and how many you would be willing to purchase. I don't have a great set up at home for doing step (small carpeted room) and like to run so I do alot of running and treadmill interval and hill...

    Cathe is great!

Cathe, just a personal story to let you know how wonderful your workout programs are. I have been working out with your weight videos (have all of them) for the past few years in addition to running and a healthy diet. I am 47 years old and have slowly (over the last 5 years) dropped about 25...

Feeling worn out instead of Fit

I am a physician (pediatrician I admit!) but I think the most important thing you need to do at this point is go to a physician for a thorough evaluation. Although could be exercise burn-out or just general fatigue from the exhausting job of taking care of small children, etc. ...those are...

    Making a 2-day split out of S&H

I have also done an abbreviated version of S & H similar to what you describe above, I do 2 sets each exercise and don't always rest a full minute between sets. I don't have DVD but I "memorized" the moves and just do it without the tape and play some classical music or something...

    Suggestions for Thinner Thighs

Debra, which of the 2 KV tapes do you think best for slimming innner thighs more? I am a Cathe addict, have most of her tapes and pretty much only do her weight workouts in addition to running and interval treadmill work but also have jiggly inner thighs that have improved but not where I want...

    gettin over plateaus

This is only to add "testimonial" to what the others so eloquently said! Weight training is the key. I have struggled to maintain a "good" weight all my life and, as I got into early 40's found it just could not be done,i.e. I could not eat little enough or run far enough to keep the pounds from...

    forward lunge vs. backward lunge

I'm wondering if there is any real difference in the muscles used/worked when doing forward lunges vs. backward lunges (i.e. in PS series)? I am not as adept at the forward lunges and feel like my form is not as good as with backward lunges...feel a little "clumsy" going forward... and wondered...

    What ?!?!??! No results yet?!?!??!

Congratulations and hang in there. I started a "fitness regimen" about 4 years ago although I did not cut my calories back as far as you have. I kept a chart of my weight and body measurements which I measured about every month. It took several months before I actually lost pounds on the scales...

p/s and s/h more than once a week?

Since each of the S/H workouts takes about an hour, it is hard for me to do this entire series twice in a week. What I usually do if I want more than one weight workout (for all body parts) in a week is do the S/H series and then do MIS in that same week. As some of the others have responded, I...

? for Cathe about S&H plie squats

RE: What about...? I've tried holding twenty pound dumbbells to do this and can't seem to find a comfortable way to hold them? One each hand wears my hands and arms out really fast and I have trouble getting my hands around 2 of them held together? Anybody else tried this?

Wedding dress woes (big chest & lats)...

This is only a suggestion and may not be useful to you since it sounds like you already have a dress that you need to fit into ......speaking from experience, I would try not to alter your body shape or appearance too much for your wedding day, at least not to a point that you don't plan on...

    Treadmill Workout

I don't really like the treadmill either but it comes in handy when the weather is too hot or cold to be outside or if I'm just "brain tired" and don't feel like paying attention to my surroundings (like cars!) outside. One thing I do to try and make the treadmill a better experience...I have...

    Slow and heavy works!

Cathe, thanks for slow and heavy. I just completed my first 4 week rotation (took me the first week to learn the routine) and did PS legs and was able to increase my weights on the squats and lunges an average of 20 pounds!!! THANKS for a great set of workouts!!!

    Treadmill Workout

Hi! I'm not Cathe but I did put together a treadmill workout that I like from information I got from a variety of sources on "interval treadmill". I needed this to break the boredom of just running at the same speed all the time as well as to try and improve the cardio challenge. I like this...

    Why can't I do push-ups?

RE: Wanna learn how to do guy pushups? Sure fire way: Thanks for this suggestion! Makes perfect sense and I am going to try it. I have also been unable to work myself up to guy pushups even though I have significantly increased my strength with Cathe's tapes. I'll let you know!! Thanks again

    triceps kickbacks

I am able to easily use 10 pound weights while doing triceps kickbacks as they are done in MIS (one arm at a time, one leg up on the bench). With the kickbacks in S&H, I can BARELY do the entire sequence of exercises with 5 pound weights. Is this because: 1. I was not doing them with proper form...
