    too tired

I'll chime in with Connie. It helps me to get organized for the work week - lunches, clothing - on the weekends. It's also very important to get enough sleep. I read somewhere if you need an alarm to wake you up in the morning, you're sleep deprived - and most of us are. I'm not much of a...

    Lotte Berk Method?

Hi Lori, I just started using the Lotte Berk workouts. I got four workouts on DVD. I have really enjoyed them and found them to be very different from Cathe's workouts, but still effective. I would say they are more like ballet/Pilates than yoga. On each workout, one person leads while two...

Speaking of Spanish (see Herbal Life thread)

I've been trying to learn a little Spanish. I got the Berlitz beginning series and have learned just enough to put my foot in my mouth. Can anyone recommend another "teach yourself" series that would be more intermediate level? Gracias, Angela

    just my 2 cents

Seems like it's not as bad now as it was with the Intensity Series. Maybe we're getting better. "Lord give me patience and give it to me right now!":7

    Obsessed with exercise

What a great thread! Amen,Aquajock! I agree there are many reasons for family and friends to call you "obsessive." Let's point fingers at others so we don't have to take a hard look at ourselves. And hey, anyone who looks different than I, has different priorities or succeeds where I have failed...

    best fitness magazine

I've always enjoyed M&F Hers and as an art director, I loved the magazine's design. I liked the more feminine color scheme and I thought the cover design was unique. Unfortunately, with the latest issue, they launched a whole new look that's supposed to be so much better and easier to read and...

OT: Trying to get my boss in trouble

It's possible his supervisor tossed your letter and the email copies without taking any action since it was anonymous. I've had some pretty bad supervisors. Most of the time there wasn't an HR department to complain to, but even if there was, I probably wouldn't go that route. I'm always...

Ed. Crowd? Goosebumps when not cold and sugar alcohol

I can't answer your first question, but the second - yes, there are side effects to sugar alcohols. For some people, they can cause digestive upset. It depends on how sensitive you are and how much you consume. Angela

    lotte berk

I had considered buying these, too, but when I asked about them on this forum, the general reaction wasn't great. How long have you had these two workouts? Have you seen any visible improvement? Angela

Dark cirles under eyes, need advice PLEASE!

Dark circles can be an indication of health problems such as food allergies/sensitivities. You may want to take a look at the over all picture - diet, sleep habits, etc. I think we're sometimes unaware of how our lifestyle, diet and vitamins (or lack thereof), exposure to environmental toxins...

    Workout

Hi Rhonda, A knowledgeable fitness pro - Maribeth - that used to post here quite a bit recommended doing both in the same week. You work each body part once with a low rep, high weight workout for strength and once with a high rep, lower weight workout for endurance each week. One type hits...

    Moves that are still difficult!

I did PUB last night and tried the inverted pikes. I've been practicing these on the floor in an attempt to strengthen my arms and shoulders. I start in a plank position and move into something like a downward dog in yoga. I got brave last night and tried the inverted pikes on the ball. I'm...

How do you handle munchies & cravings?

You've probably heard this before, but try to get a balance of carbs, protein and healthy fats in your snacks. Personally, I find it hard to quit munching when the snack is heavy - or all - carbs. Some nut butter or cheese with your Sunchips might help fill you up better. Angela

    Moves that are still difficult!

Whew! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who hasn't mastered everything. Sometimes I get a little discouraged when I think about the Body Blast stuff coming out soon and I still haven't conquered the Intensity Series! I have trouble with the stuff already mentioned, but I'll throw in a...

    Choosing a strength video-Help!

The Pure Strength and the Slow and Heavy series are both worth a look if you're looking strictly for stength training. I find the Slow and Heavy series adapts well to a pyramid approach if you want to stick with that. CTX UB and Leaner Legs are both more endurance-oriented. If you want to...

    Strength workouts

The SH series is my favorite, too. I see great results with it. However, I like to use PUB and PLB for strength workouts, too. I do pyramid up only, working to as heavy as possible on the third set. Doing the full pyramid feels more like endurance to me. Angela
