Help interpreting Hemocrit and Glucose Scores

Thanks Natalie and Autumn. The 88 score was from the 1-hour (50 gram) glucola test. I was worried because the drink was repulsive and I became nauseated for a couple of days. I thought something was wrong. I don't take any sugar normally (except fruit), so my doctor concluded the nausea was...

    anyone use FAM???

Yes, I used FAM, but not as form of birth control. I used it to TTC, and it worked like a charm. I'd be interested to know how well it works as birth control, but it makes perfect sense to me that if a woman is conscientious, it can. Manmohini

Help interpreting Hemocrit and Glucose Scores

I took the 1-hour glucola test last week, and my hemoglobin was also tested. Bear with me. I'm not the scientific type. I just learned from a mailed card that I passed the glucola test with a score of 88. I have no idea what this means. Is this passing with an A, B, C, or D? My...

EMAIL Thank You Letter after job interview??

When I was on the job market, I was advised by a career expert NEVER to e-mail the thank you but to write a short and tasteful card and send it via U.S. Postal Service. I always followed this advice and received several offers. Manmohini

    Venous Insufficiency and Third Trimester

Thanks for those links. I will check them out. When I first started experiencing the swelling a few years back, I went to several doctors, a cranial-sacral massage therapist (for manipulating lymph), and a Chinese doctor. Nothing so far seems to work especially when heat or prolonged sitting...

    Anyone ever lose a toenail?

Linda, Wow. What's up with your husband leaving the door closed? What a price to pay. Maybe toenails that are shed due to trauma are the ones that grow in with fungus Yes, I'm sure I must have that fungus although my nail has never cracked or split. It is pretty smooth. For the past...

    Anyone ever lose a toenail?

I lost a toenail due to trauma. Somebody dropped a jumbo glass jar of peanut butter on it. Like your toenail, mine turned black and then my body sloughed it off. Unfortunately, the toenail grew back thicker and uglier. I pray this doesn't happen to you. Manmohini

Biological clock ticking strong at 31 1/2!!

Dear Janice, I have already written to you several times on the Pregnancy forum. Once again, I am very sorry for the grief, loss, and anxiety you've been pitched into. As I recall, one poster on that forum made some good suggestions about resources available to women who miscarry--both...

Mommies to be check in Aug. 22nd

Chrissy, I pray that you quickly give birth to this child. My friend is also at 38 weeks. She's been dilated to 4 cm for several days and still waiting. She is so impatient now! Steph, yes, this is the growth spurt time. I think you and I are a few days (maybe a week apart--my due date...

    Venous Insufficiency and Third Trimester

Ugh. I can't stand the idea of compression stockings, especially in this blistering heat, but it seems that since I'm doing everything else right and still have the swelling problem, I ought to try them. Pray for me. 11-13 weeks in compression stockings. Ugh! Manmohini

So I got my pug microchipped today

Thank you, Sarah. I just tuned in to this thread, and I must say that I am disheartened by the way in which some posters who disagree with B & G have thought nothing of robbing her of her dignity by ganging up on her and heaping on mockery and ridicule. Is this any way to handle disagreement...

    Venous Insufficiency and Third Trimester

I wonder if any of you ladies have experience with my latest annoyance. I am on the brink of the third trimester, and my circulation-challenged left calf, ankle, and foot is worse than ever. I developed a slight swelling in this calf and ankle about 4 years ago, so it is normally slightly...

    For Hemp Eaters

Yes, I agree abouth those French Meadows Hemp Bagels. They do smell fishy. I try to slather on some nut butter to cover the smell. But I eat them anyways when I need a quick shot of protein. I don't know what to do about the fishy smell. Manmohini

The woman I saw who I never want to be!

B& G--I know what you mean about asthma. When I was in my first year of grad school, I had a serious one-time bout with asthma. As a new and young teacher teaching college students who were about the same age as I, I was consumed with anxiety for weeks. In this time of stress and weakness, I...

Mamas to be check in August 12th

My m/c was around 13 or 14 weeks. Yes, it certainly sobered me up about all of the possible things that can go wrong. Now that I am approaching the third trimester, I have to control my mind and anxiety about pre-term labor. (As the Bhagavad gita says, there's danger at every step in this...

Mamas to be check in August 12th

Congratulations, Erin. You must feel so happy and relieved. Steph--I'm going through the same thing about buying stuff. I haven't bought a thing yet at 26+ weeks. A few friends have sent pajamas and blankets, but that's about it. I never thought of myself as superstitious, but maybe I am...

Lamaz Method vs. Bradley Method for Natural Childbirth?

Thanks, Natalie, for your informative replies. I decided to go ahead and start with the Bradley series. I had my first class last night, and you're right, this method suits me better than Lamaz would. I've read through half of one of the books they give out, and I am satisfied with the...

The woman I saw who I never want to be!

Nancy156, I'm not sure how the Park Slope co-op works its membership, but my mother-in-law was a member for 30 years, and she lived in Crown Heights, and my step-daughter is also a member, and she lives in Bed-Stuy. These are both in Brooklyn, of course. If you go to www.foodcoop.com you can...

The woman I saw who I never want to be!

Dorothy: About kids developing taste. I read a study recently which suggests that children develop their tastes in utero starting about 5 or 6 months! This means that what a woman eats in pregnancy might be more consequential than we thought. The study said that if the woman ate a lot of...
