Today I did Kelly's Build and Burn Trim and Tone and used 10# dbs instead of 8#. I wasn't sure how this would work with some of t he shoulder stuff, but I was fine with it. This was 25 minutes, 166 calories, heart rate 128 average, 169 max. I then did Kelly's Lean BOdy Circuits, boxing premix, 21 minutes, 138 calories, heart rate average 138, max 185 ??. This must have been a brief hit. Maybe when I was helping dh with some with some framing for the room he is adding upstairs. I had to reach overhead to hold it in place when he was screwing it in and helped cart some heavy stuff upstairs. I had several stop and breaks through my workout today. I finished off with Kelly's Slim Sculpting premix core/abs. 32 minutes, 15# kettlebell, heart rate 108, max 142, 143 calories. Total time was 78 minutes, calories 447 calories.

Doreen, I have had to make notes with Build and Burn. It is better to be safe and go a bit lighter at first. I have been through all of them at least twice now. I am looking forward to Cathe's even though there is not much different there. Sometimes watching the workout clips is deceiving. I am hoping for some better music, but so far all of her latest stuff is just electronic stuff that is rather annoying to me.

Belinda, I know JS is easy to follow. I have heard others mention the step counts being higher. Funny, when I do Amy Bento Ross workouts I get a much higher step count than a lot of other workouts. But, then I find I am moving around the room a lot more. I get higher step counts from Cathe's older stuff.

Diane Sue - Jessica's set is more intermediate. I don't feel wiped out after her workouts. I also get a higher step count with Cathe's older stuff? Weird? I do agree, bathe the workout clips can be deceiving. The music doesn't border me, I play my own music. I been doing this for month now. I couldn't get through 8 month of STS with the same music : I like the music in STS but needed a change.

Belinda, I like music that I enjoy and makes me want to keep going :) I have used my own music with the Fitness Blender workouts, but never bothered with workouts that have background music.

Diane Sue - you can play Cathe's dvd's with music or without and still here her voice. Go to your Audio Setting, click on without music and play your own :)

I did walkstrong 3 step jam and boogie it tonight. Both fun workouts...just perfect for doubles. I noticed she uses the same music as Cathe has during parts of it.

I haven't had much luck playing my own music along with videos....but I'm just technically challenged.

Good for you Belinda! You have so much already and seem to have a good idea of what is working for you.

This morning I did B&B trim and tone intervals. I think this is a recovery level workout for the set. Some different cardio moves and easy to follow. I did with 8s but in the future I need to go heavier to get more metabolic effect.

Good morning,

JS WS3 D28 Cardio Interval Sculpt + 15 min Streamline Sculpt + SBF D19 TB Fusion + STS is done.

Doreen - the high impact is too much on my knees. I have arthritis in both my knees. I didn't like any of the cardio workouts (nothing new) enough to keep my preorder. Plus, I have enough workouts to last me a live time. Good job this morning.

Waving Hallo to Diane Sue! BBL!

Today I just did Cathe's Party Rockin Step, 53 minutes, 380 calories, heart rate average, 146, max 175, 4,550 steps. I have lots of house work to do today. It seems I keep getting caught up in doing something else and nothing much is getting done. Also we are building this room and I keep having to clean up sawdust and wallboard fragments. Did, you ladies see Kelly's write up on Facebook about working out safe as we get older and impact etc.. It was pretty good.

Doreen, Amy Bento Ross used to send extra sound tracks that could be used with her step workouts when we pre-ordered. I still had a bit of a time adjusting to the music beat though. I think lifting weights is a bit easier to do with other music than cardio that is timed to the beat.

Belinda, I am sure you feel better after stopping your order. I am still looking forward to the workouts though and would have wanted them anyway. I imagine there will come a time when maybe I don't want them. I don't know yet ;)

Hey girls,

STS D22 + JS WS3 + SBF is done.

Doreen - you can find music with beat on YT. Maybe that works better for you. Lately I play music from the radio, they have up beat music. Works out well.

Diane Sue - I canceled my preorder this morning. I was dreading the workouts just looking at the clips. I don't want to modify every move, I may as well do another workout with less impact. Maybe since I am downsizing everything in my life, it's easier to say no instead of buying every dvd. I don't need them, need to use what i already have. Enjoy the new workouts!

Have a great Friday, everyone.

Yes- I saw Kelly's post and thought "yes- my 20 year old self is definitely still willing but my body says no!"

Doreen, I think if we listen to our body's early , maybe we will save ourselves a lot of injuries. There was a time when I would average between 2 and 3 hours a day for working out. I finally realized it made no difference if I did less. All it did for me was make me eat more to deal with the calorie deficit. Then after the torn miniscus, I slowed down a lot on so much impact. The surgeon said to cross train. Now, I just realize I can still stay in shape with less time spent on the workouts and I have time for other things that I enjoy doing.

This morning I did Cardio Core challenge with all the impact move on the rebounder. There are just a few that really didn't work and I ended up just doing Jack's on the tramp but it was a good way to use a workout I haven't done in a long time because of the jumping.

Then I followed with walk strong 3 cardio interval sculpt. I think I was expecting a Barre workout so this greatly surprised me! It's a gem of a cardio metabolic weight routine that I really enjoyed. Heavier weights and you could really even kick it up a notch.

Good morning,

SBF Bring Sally Up Booty and Stopwatch Abs is done. I will do a walk later.

Diane Sue - interesting article by KCM. Kelly is my age. I am not in my 20's anymore. Another reason I canceled my preorder.

Doreen - I am glad you like WS3 too. I agree, those workouts will surprise you.

Have a great Saturday, everyone.

Today's workout was Les Mills Combat 30 live, 36 minutes, heart rate average 129, max 157, 258 calories, 3,636 steps. I then did Fit Tower Legs, Glutes, & Core mix legs and glutes only, 33 minutes, 183 steps, 109 calories. Total time was 69 minutes, 367 calories.

Doreen, nice use of the trampoline. I checked my library for JS workouts and they only have two in the whole metropolitan system.

Belinda, I am beyond Kelly's age. I don't feel that old most of the time though LOL I think sometimes we forget that our bodies are aging and need care. I hadn't seen the last vid clips of Cathe's till last night. It does look like quite a bit of impact. I am disappointed that the low impact is very brief.

Diane Sue - I don't feel old, lol. But all that jumping isn't agreeing my my knees or crawling around on the floor doesn't agree with my slipped discs. I been injury free (knock on wood!) for quit some time. I would like to keep it that way. I don't mind some impact, but jumping around for 30 min or longer isn't for me anymore. I know, what my body can take. I used to ignore and worked through a lot of pain in the past. It's not worst it to me anymore to risk and hurt myself. There are other workouts out there that show low impact/or a modifier. The most importing things is, I am getting my workouts in :)

Belinda, good for you staying injury free. It has been over a year since I had the rotator cuff injury that came about while doing hammer and chisel. It doesn't seem that long, but it was well before Christmas last year. Time sure flys by. I am just glad I didn't tear anything. I have been very careful about full pull ups since then, as my doctor said the pull ups put that area in a vulnerable position.

Knock on wood I've been injury free since I started workout videos instead of running! Hope to keep it that way.

I finally got my refund on my cc from when I returned anarchy several weeks ago. I'll have to check my records to see if they deducted for return shipping. I don't care. The refund covered my purchase of walk strong 3 which I think is a much better program for long term use. I hope I am still doing workouts into my mature years!

Good morning,

I will do a SBF stretch later today and maybe do a short walk.

Doreen - glad you been injury free. Yeah, on the refund. WS3 is an amazing program. I am glad I bought it.

Diane Sue - I had rotator cuff injury too. I had to lower my weights too for a long time. I also have PF flair up. Had a really bad case a little over 2 years ago. I couldn't walk for over 8 month. I had 3 cortisone shots in my heal. I never want to experience anything like that again :( High impact isn't agreeing with me, lol. I also have back problems (slipped disc) from lifting heavy weights/high impact. I never want to go through all those shots I got for my back again :) Too many injuries in the past, not worst the risk.

I will be back later.

Doreen, my knee surgeon said he was an avid runner himself and had to give it up. That is great that you got your refund and it covered Walk Strong 3. I think a lot of problems come from over training and not enough recovery time. Also trying to work through discomfort just because the instructor is doing it. I have learned to pay attention. I am hoping to be able to work out and stay active the rest of my life. One of my grandmothers was very active and up till the last she was always going out for walks with her dogs. She lived in farm country.

Belinda, I have went through tennis elbow earlier on, PF that lasted a very long time. I wore a foot thing for it to bed, bought all kinds of shoes and orthotics, stood on a small foam roller to roll out the bottom of my feet. The doctor did x rays and I also have a bone spur, but they said it should not be bothersome and suggested that I probably would not want to go for a specialist unless it was really bothering me. I got rid of the PF and then went on vacation to Jamaica and got a massage and the woman pulled on my toes and I think she almost broke one, because the whole rest of the vacation I could hardly walk. It took close to a year to get over that one. Then, the knee issue which was 4 years ago. Recently was the rotator cuff. I really did not feel I was going that heavy, but going from burpees to pull ups and jump push ups with Hammer and chisel was not good. Later I just did those with the tubing in the door instead of the pull ups and did the jump push ups with my hands on the rebounder. I did not do them all the way they did it. Another lesson learned. Hopefully no more of that stuff. It seems to take longer to bounce back as I get older.
