Who cares/Strong & sensible 2018

Murphy, Thanks for letting us know. I'm so sorry to hear but I hope your treatment goes amazing well, quickly, effectively with high tolerability. I know we are all thinking of you and sending healing hugs and prayers (and LUCK as requested). xoxoxo PS I'm glad you guys got to do Universal over spring break and had fun. You know dd and I are theme park junkies.

Lisa, sorry about dh situation, too bad it couldn't be a buy out package situation, but I think that is older corporate way and not as available these days? I don't know what I will do, no partner to share the retirement cost of living and it's hard to imagine doing my job at 65. I better keep on my toes or find some more skills. ::shrugs::

Mary, that is funny, I haven't looked up Julia but now I have a great image of you trying to keep up w/ pregnant lady. Speaking of baby stuff, I did a little resuscitation action on a c section baby the other day, turned around and dad was one of our ER docs! That would have been pretty awkward had I blown it, lol!

Ronne, how's dd trip? What is she doing? What did you and dh do? I hope nice weather for you guys.

I worked out 2 of the 3 days I was off last time, and then did a really nice nature walk on another day off. Got taxes done and getting OT in even though we've slowed way down and they are de staffing. I also got a new laptop and will give my old one to my mom so that will take a little bit of setting up and changing over. Travel planning today-I hope kayak up in Gainesville. Also London over July 4 with Jill again! Perhaps a workout today as well? Laundry max and grocery max maybe.

Waves to Roxie who is hopefully doing well and also Tracy~~

Hi all

Jody - she's in Germany staying with family friends and going to school there! She had a double period in maths in German the other day. She was really pleased because it was something she did last year (and she doesn't even do maths anymore!) I'm so proud of her - just having the *** to go on her own without really knowing anyone. DH and I had a few days away; we went to Cambridge (I beat my step count I did with you!) then into the Suffolk countryside. Weather was fine for 2 days and crap for 2. Are you really coming to London again?!!

Lisa - hope DH isn't feeling too down. My DH is finishing work at the end of this month; he's been made redundant but he's really happy! He's 60 and wants to do his own thing before he gets too old. He's getting a decent payout so we're not too worried about costs.

Mary - wow, I didn't realise Yvette was pregnant! I think I've only looked at older ones.

So I did loads of walking while we're away which worked off some of the food and drink. We went to London last night to see Amadeus (the play which the film was based on) which was absolutely amazing. Catching up with work now.

Hi all, well DH and I have cycled the last 3 days and we're beat! Sunday it was so windy but then the wind stopped so we took off and yep, wind started again, it was heck getting home, I burned double the calories I normally do! then Monday it was a bit cool but still a good ride and as soon as we got home the sun came out....of course, then yesterday we had to wait until afternoon (because DH had to interview someone) and the wind started up of course when we are far away from home. So today it's warm and supposed to be windy but right now it isnt' but we are are beat! Maybe tomorrow although suppposed to be windy then cold on Friday. When I say windy, it was 15 mph yesterday, supposed to be 30 mph today and up to 50 thursday!

Ronne, I think we have almost the same age difference between us and our DHs....mine is 8 yrs. The only thing I really worry about is health care costs. I think DH is happy about it but just sucks the way he's been treated. Today is another interview but this time he is optional on the mtg, so guess his mgr now knows what things to ask in an interview for this job. DH felt much better about it all once our financial advisor said our plan looked fine even with me adding even more monthly expenses. The reason I added more expenses is because we could potentially spend a bit more on hobbies given the extra free time :) I have more hobbies than DH but you never know what he could become interested in. Walking- sounds like a good way to work off the extra food/drink....I can still feel my foot/ankle if I walk too much but I'm happy I can basically walk for an hour most days of the week, maybe averaging 8000 steps a day and not have it hurt too much.

Jody, London again? What happened to a trip out here? I know my location isn't as exotic as London! As far as a spouse to have retirement....well, I figure it's my pay for putting up with him for 32 years and probably another 30! LOL! How awesome yet scary about the baby, and good that the dr stayed out of the way, I'm sure it was tough for him!

Mary, ha, aging is tougher than pregnancy? I've had to double my BP meds, not sure why except age, I guess it's my gift from my parents :) Could be worse! I am pretty tightly wound and it seems worse as I age so maybe that's a factor. I was laying in bed one night (high, whoops, at least it's only at night I couldn't do that during the day!) and was doing some deep thinking and thought how everyone doesn't feel so anxious inside and how it would be great to put myself in other people shoes and see how it is not being me, deep eh? I think this was when I got my neck all worked up with tension from the 2 days I sewed on my new sewing machine. I was that tense even though I tried not to be, sigh, it ain't easy being me (or green as Kermit would say).

Murphy, how are you doing? Rest is the best medicine so do it! :)

Hello to Tracy as well, how's the job front?

Hi girls! Today did an Yvette workout, kickboxing. (Ronne, Julia is pregnant, not Yvette)

Lisa, winds are crazy here too, still chilly, 30-40, supposedly will be warmer this weekend. I think everyone has anxiety of some kind, sometimes it’s just how we are made. The world we live in does not help. I try to tell myself, in with the good, out with the bad. Sometimes it works! Lol.

Jody, it sounds like you are in love with London! Someday I’m going to get there. I always get nervous taking care of doctors, nurses, and lawyers!

Ronne, how amazing for DD! Will she be there long? Good news for DH, you will have him more to yourself! I loved Amadeus! Hamilton is coming here in August, have to get my fast fingers ready to order! I’m so excited!

Hello to Murphy and Tracey!

Have to get in the shower, good day to all! Mary

Hello

Mary - I'm an idiot, I didn't read it properly! It's really cold here too. I went out earlier and wished I'd worn gloves. So sick of this! DD comes back tomorrow, she's been there a week. Good luck getting tickets!

Lisa - yeah, there's 9 years between us. I can't believe you've done all that cycling in the wind. You're allowed a day off! Glad you're feeling more secure about the future. You made me laugh about being high in bed!

Yoga again today, just what I felt like. Pretty quiet apart from that. I'm going to pick DD up tomorrow, looking forward to seeing her.

We got a good ride in before the winds kicked up today, tomorrow is snow!
Mary, Hamilton was here it sounded like getting tickets was hard, good luck!
Ronne, lol about high in bed, I'm have some deep thoughts in bed sometimes while waiting for sleep to kick in, the mj is good for that!

No workouts to report from day off last Fri, workout today maybe? Lisa, I'd dislike riding in the wind but it sounds like you can get caught in it despite best plans. Ronne that sounds like a great adventure for DD. I agree about having the *****'s to head out like that on her own at such a young age. You've got so many beautiful places to walk and tour. I was just reading about Lake District. Do you go there? Jilly wants London, lol we love the Tube!! Mary I hope you get Hamilton! Speaking of tickets, there is a Harry Potter history of magic exhibit that was in London, that will be in New York and we are thinking of trying to get tickets for that, so another travel possibility. There was a feature on TV the other night w/ JK Rowling. I'm working too much to travel plan, but can't travel unless I earn at least a few extra mini tramps!

Happy weekend everyone! Today did an Yvette workout, also have been doing Cathe.
No go on the Hamilton tickets, I waited in a virtual line for 5 hours, all that was left was the $435 seats, I could never justify that much! Hopefully they will make the movie? DS will be in Chicago this summer, so maybe there?

Jody, maybe you could stop off in New York on your way to or from London?

Ronne, yesterday here was absolute perfection! Now, the cold, rain and snow are returning. Had all the windows open, airing it all out. Enjoy DD and hearing about her adventures!

Lisa, it’s HARD to bike in the wind! I think wether you are riding into or behind.

Hello to everyone else! DS and I are going to see Rampage after he gets off work, he likes the gorilla, I will enjoy Dwayne Johnson! Mary

Hi fit babes! I'm so sorry it's been so long since I've written. I think I will just blame it on exhaustion with dogs! :) I'm going pretty far back on the personals and I apologize if they don't make sense to you!

Lisa--I want to do the rides with no wind, no hills and lunch in the middle! I'm glad your hand/wrist/arm are feeling better and you got a new fast machine! Moderation is hard for me too. I have a heck of a time being told I need to limit something. You are a good nana to your furry grandkids, I feel like I can barely handle my 2! I'm really sorry about your DH's upcoming, unexpected retirement, I hope he gets a big, fat severance check! My DH is in the tech field and opted to work for the state and lower pay in exchange for job security. The industry is so ruthless! I'm glad your DH is laughing about it now. And yes! Chocolate really should be a vitamin.

Hi Jody! You said such a sweet thing to me--that I would make whatever place I work a better place, thank you so much! I do try. I did interview for this new position but--tada--I don't want it. WAY to much travel around the state and I really just want to travel for vacation, hee hee! I'd also be in an office in the city I live in by myself and work remotely with people in the 7 different offices around the state. No thank you, too isolating for me. They are doing 2nd interviews next week I think and I am fine that I haven't been contacted. I think your baby gator is adorable--the gator she is holding, not so much! I missed the post about ICE Reboot but I did a week of the Body Blast parts followed by a muscle meltdown and got it all in. I liked it but haven't done it since I must say. It would be hard for me to be around smoke again, I'm sorry you had to be, you are a good daughter! I smoked for quite a few years and my mom died at 77 from COPD even though she quit 14 years earlier. I understand the addiction and I understand the pleasure it gives people who may not have a lot of joy in their lives. I have to say I burst out laughing with your resuscitation story! Good job on that! Good luck on getting lots of mini tramps for more travel! I live vicariously through you you know. :D

Hi Murphy, I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and sending a lot of cyber hugs!! I understand this is not your first go around with this. I am so sorry you have to go through it again. I am glad you had a good vacation though.

Happy long belated UK Mother's Day to you Ronne! I had a great weekend seeing the basketball game with my dad and seeing my friend. But it was not a relaxing yoga class I took, it kicked my arse! You had snow just before spring? No fair! Glad you didn't feel too old at the new bar, I hope you never feel that way at a new bar! We are absolutely sick to death of our winter rain here, ug! I feel your pain in that department.

Mary, I am so glad you've been enjoying time with your kids! But that was probably weeks ago by now, huh? I don't thin I'm going to try Julia because I doubt I'd keep up with her either--pregnant or not! I'm sorry about the Hamilton tickets, they should add another date if you waited that long to only be offered tickets that were too expensive. We didn't even bother trying when it came to Seattle, mostly because we hate traveling to Seattle! I hope you enjoyed Dwayne Johnson in Rampage, I know I would! DH and I saw Game Night and enjoyed it. I enjoyed Jason Bateman. :D

Let's see. I finished up the Beachbody program 80 Day Obsession but didn't do all of the workouts since DH and I switched off weeks coming home at lunch to check on the furry kids. I did what I could and was OK with that. It was a lot of heavy weight work that my neck and low back didn't always appreciate so I decided to do just a week of 21 Day Fix Extreme workouts by the same instructor. They are 30 minutes long with cardio and lighter weights. I had to press pause a few times today to catch my breath. Yikes! Next week I'm back to Cathe. Other than that, we learned that puppy Riley has a rare medical condition--cataracts! You can't tell by the way he tears around the house but we notice he doesn't see things he normally should. So, lots of vet visits, specialist too. Blood work found some type of infections so he's on antibiotics. Then more blood work and then back to the specialist. We're looking to do surgery for one eye and he will immediately see better. But it's also 4 weeks in a cone of shame and eye drops 3 times a day. It's a battle giving him eye drops once a day now! I just hope he's not going to be our money pit dog. :p

Have a wonderful week fit babes and I will try to get here more often! Tracy

Hi everyone

Tracy - wow! Sorry to hear about the dog. That does sound like it's going to be expensive - maybe not so many trips in your future now! Good luck coming back to Cathe! You're absolutely right to just do what works for you. We're all slowly learning that. You made me smile with your kickass yoga class!

Mary - that's a pain about the tickets. I'm sure you'll get to see it eventually - it sounds like it will be around for a long time. Hope the cold, rain and snow has moved on again for you.

Jody - yes, I've been to the Lake District a few times, it is lovely. It's packed at that time of year but that's when it's the best weather. Even then, you can still get away from the crowds.

Lisa - hope the snow didn't hang around too long.

So, I think spring is finally here! Temps predicted to go up from tomorrow and we have actually seen some sunshine. DD had a great time in Germany but she came back with a bad cold and has been ill all weekend, she couldn't go back to school yesterday but is hoping to make it back tomorrow. She's stressing a bit about being behind on work.
My work is stressing me a bit as well at the moment, just struggling to get things done, then start thinking about housework and jobs to be done and I get really grumpy!
Been keeping up with the workouts, doing some ICE this week as I feel like I might be overdoing it and want to ease off a bit.

13 12 hr shifts worked out of the last 17 days- not many workouts to show for it but a couple of mini tramps so that is good. I'm off for the next 5 days and have appointments and errands to do and then a road trip with DD to include some hiking and kayaking. So, what to do workout wise over the next three days? I'm thinking a circuit/metabolic, a hiit cardio and then a heavy wt day. Weekend will be outdoor activity, then back to work but probably not much OT after this month.
Oops, I might have just talked myself out of working out today!

Hello everyone! Today did a Cathe live.

Dang Jody! That’s a lot of hours! Sounds like you need to rest up!

Ronne, I think we might be getting some Spring this weekend, I’m hoping. I hope DD feels better soon!

Tracey, I’m so sorry about your dog. He sounds so happy!

Lisa, how are you feeling?

Not much here, the usual, which it’s just fine with me! Have a good day! Mary

Hello

Jody - you must be shattered - if you're hiking and kayaking I think that counts as a workout. Have fun with dd!

Mary - enjoy the spring at last!

It's lovely here, sun shining, flowers out, I've even got a t-shirt on! Did yoga yesterday which calmed my frazzled mind and a KCM today to keep things light.
Sorted my work issues and now feeling back on top of things again.
I'm off to Madrid tomorrow with BF for the weekend. I predict lots of walking, beer and tapas!

Hello! Today did Cathe live, vertical loading, yesterday tried a step workout. Notice tried!

Ronne, have a blast it Madrid! Beer and tapas sound wonderful.

How is everyone else? Tomorrow have to re-do my CPR class, good thing I have an in with the instructor, DH! Sunday we are going to a concert, a blast from the past, Rick Astley! So excited! Hope everyone has a good weekend! Mary

Hi all, quick post, I've been reading the posts and hope I remember enough for the personals! It's been a chilly week here, but we did cycle 3 days, one day had an interesting trail detour because the trail was closed due to wildlife---makes wonder what's up on that trail, didn't know there was wildlife on that one except for prairie dogs (irritating things), then one day we had a couple of coyotes "escorting" us through the open space, they do that to make sure you leave the area is what I read. At least I'm not AS fearful of them. We had some wild winds on Wednesday (thankfully we didn't ride), 89 MPH, the wind was SCREAMING! So much damage, lots of trees down, a light pole right up on the corner. But the kicker is that 1 lady was killed by a falling tree branch. And now today they are saying some snow may be coming tonight into Saturday.

Tracy, I loved your comment on the perfect bike ride :) I actually attempted a hill yesterday that had a 14% grade....I had to walk it part of the way, I think had I felt better I may have made it! Hope the new dog doesn't end up costing too much.....would pet insurance help? I noticed a forecast that it's supposed to be drier than normal for the next 30 days in the NW....thought of you.

Ronne, how fun to just jet off to Madrid! Why does that sound so much more exotic than me taking off for South Dakota?

Mary, my hand was feeling better, now today not so much, my thumb joint especially....gosh I feel old! I think it's from too much on the ipad, that's why I don't post as much (unless you all want a dictated post). I did get an ergonomic rotary cutter for cutting for quilting, it helped a lot and was painfree until a bit too much time on the ipad yesterday messaging with my friend. It's just too much to text sometimes for chatting and she just is never available for a phone chat, sigh.

Jody, that is a lot of work! And I think outdoor stuff is the perfect workout! Sorry by the time I got here, I've forgotten everything else! DH just got put on an acct so I guess his termination is delayed. I told him it's his choice whether he wants to continue working, so far I think he's continuing to see how it goes. This acct only lasts a month so will see what happens after that if they put him on the bench again and then the 5 week timer starts again....it's all so weird and I hate uncertainty but I guess while the money is still flowing and the work isn't that bad he'll continue. No word on the part time option, I don't think they know how to deal with that. It was funny because HR suggested he consider relocating, uh, no thanks! Your hikes look so different than mine did....mossy! LOL!

Everyone have a great weekend! I'm hoping to ride Sunday after snow on Saturday! Best thing about this time of year is the snow leaves even more quickly than it does in the winter, the only benefit to being so dry, my poor skin is dying though!

Another quick drive by for today, I feel like my days off have been like getting caught in traffic, hitting every red light quite literally at times! I did my shortest Cathe in the history of ever yesterday, step tabata only from CF or TTM. Nothing today. I enjoyed seeing your posts, I'll be back to comment but nice to see what everyone is up to in the meantime. Do you guys use bitcoin? Everything is so hard!!

Yep, I'm sick! I've been in denial the last two days and even did a couple of bike rides, yesterday's was even up the big hill behind my house! But as of in the middle of the night and this morning I know I'm officially sick, ugh! I haven't been sick in years! My throat is so sore and nose so stuffy I guess it would be prudent of me to rest today so rest day it is even in bed

Hello all.

I have been trying to get some workouts in. They make me more tired, but I am getting them in. I was sick last week, but am feeling much better. I won't get the results of the success of the radiation for a few more weeks, but I am remaining positive and continuing on with life as usual. Thanks for all the support and hugs.

Murphy

Hi everyone

Mary - how was Rick Astley? He's got a great voice!

Murphy - good to see you. Hope things aren't too horrible for you.

Lisa - sorry to hear you're ill. Get plenty of rest!

Jody - no bitcoin is not for me!

So, Madrid was great. It was a little cooler than I was expecting so I was a bit underdressed at times. We had a great time. The place we stayed was pretty average (basically a long cupboard carved out of a stairwell!) but it made us laugh. I slept in a pull-out bed under the ladder leading up to the mezzanine bed! We got some beer and tapas in as well as a whole day of culture at a museum. A perfect short break!
Back in to the workouts, just doing KCMs this week as I've got a lot of work on.
