TTC & Miscarriage Support Dec 24th

Bethany, sorry about the negative test,...but at least now you're not "wondering"....and for me...I start planning (calculating due dates & such). I"m pretty silly though!!! I AM using ovulation test strips....first time in my life. I might have a positive today---I'm going to re-do it in a couple of hours. They're kind of hard to read: there's a control line & an ovulating line. The ovulating line has to be exact color depth or darker to read positive. A faint line, or lighter than control line is negative.

Laine, I can't spell "menstruating" half the time....so I used period or aunt flow (AF).

Jen, I hope some of your positivitiviness can rub off on my this year!! I know exactly how you feel about workouts & your mood. Coach Sean is great, too. I haven't done elliptical in a while. I go thru seasons, right now I'm doing lots of step.

Any New Year's Resolutions for ya'll?

Happy New year ladies! I'm very excited about this year. Not that last year was a bad year by any means but I just know ( like I said before) that this will be our year for our little one! So did anyone do anything special for New Year's? I went over to my mom's and she taught me how to crochet (after much cussing and two glasses of wine) :) I slowly got the hang of it. I think I will keep at it because it is a challenge for me. I really want to make an afghan but right now I am starting out with a small pot holder. :)

Bethany- I'm a child advocate at an advocacy center. I work with abused (sexually and physically) children and their families. I don't think I've mentioned it on here so it's okay to ask. :) I'm sorry the test was negative too but like Melanie said, at least you know. Hopefully you are going to O soon. It is so frustrating when your body doesn't work the way you want it to.

Melanie- I don't think you are silly at all. I have already started planning due dates "if" I get my period on this date, then I will be due on this date. How silly am I then because I haven't had a regular cycle yet? :) I hope you are getting ready to O and catch that little eggie! Good luck!

Nah, I don't normally do New Year's resolutions because half the time I don't remember them. I just want to have another great year so I try and remember that. No workout today, I should take a rest day. I feel good but I don't want to push myself the first week back to working out. Have a great one!

Jen, God bless you for the work you do!!! You definitely have to have a calling to do that line of work. I'm not kidding you, I literally cry when I listen to the news of abuse in children,...or read a story,...or verbally hear of one. I cannot handle it. It's a weak spot. I've been known to send cards to complete strangers after reading an obituary of a child in the paper....or spend hours praying for their families. It saddens me so deeply & I'm unable to handle my emotions. I know it saddens you deeply too....but you're able to channel that into positive energy....I'm so proud of you!

Bethany, how have you been getting any "action" over there at your place? One of my struggles in TTC is that DH has low libido. I have to sometimes attack him!!!! GRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLL!!! Hee Hee. Anyway, it's more challenging. I"m not sure what happens to that 20year old desire....but I have definitely seen a change after 40 in him. :( Anyone else experience this?

Wow Jen, (that's what I literally said when I read what you do;)) that's wonderful that you can make a difference in so many childrens' lives like that. I agree with Melanie though, it would probably be too difficult for me to handle...I can't even watch it if it's in a movie! Good for you for learning how to crochet...hopefully you'll be making baby booties soon!:) How has the cramping been?

Melanie, I also have a DH with a low libido. It's been a source of many tears for me as I feel like, "what, am I not attractive enough?" We've talked about it numerous times though and honestly I don't know if it'll change. One change I've seen (though DH refuses to hear this) is that his libido seems to have declined as his weight has gone up. He hasn't exercised since...well it's been at least 3 years. And he's only 28, so I shudder to think what would happen after 40!:p So I "get action" about 2x/week now but I'm doing all the work and it's kicking my self esteem in the butt. As you can tell, it's a bit of a sore spot!

Well I did the Gauntlet today and got that wonderful high that only comes after I push myself beyond my comfort zone, so that felt great!

Happy New Years Day!!:D

Bethany, my DH has gained 50lbs this year!!!! Can you believe it? He was super skinny before & he's not flabby...he's a 36X34...but that's alot of weight. He was started on a mood stabilizer last year & I know that contributes to libido & weight changes. I've seen your picture, you are not unattractive (and neither am I)....it's their bodies not ours. :p:p

We have relations maybe TWICE a MONTH.:eek::eek: If it were up to me it'd be several times a week....b/c I"m a total nymphomaniac!!! LOL

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! When do we move on to a new week?

Bethany, thanks--my boys are 6 (Isaac) and 3 (Ewan).

Melanie, my DH does not have a low libido, but the weird thing is he likes me to initiate. He gets grumpy if he doesn’t get sex often enough for his taste, but he doesn’t usually initiate it himself (or maybe he hints and I just don’t catch on). So I make myself initiate more often than I might just to keep him happy. TMI? And he has had more incidences of trouble…finishing…in the last few months. He’s only 35.

Jen, my granny taught me to crochet when I was a kid but now I don’t think I could do it. I’m terribly un-crafty. :( It sounds like you have a heart-wrenching but rewarding job. You must be an amazing person.

No New Year’s resolutions for me—my rebellious side chafes against them. I do plan to make some “goals” for the year, though (like calling them goals makes them not resolutions :p).

No workout today—just trying to recover from last night. I didn’t drink (since I’m in that 2-week waiting time) but did stay up way too late and then had insomnia (and a puppy waking me at 4am).

A little more about me since I’m a newbie (to this board anyway)—I’m Lainie, originally from Texas, now live in NY state (about 20 miles from NYC). I’ve got my 2 little boys (mentioned above) and a Boston Terrier puppy named Sgt Pepper. (videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/lainiefig). I spend a lot of my free time online (too much, really) doing blogs and stuff. I like to work out (obviously) mainly with Cathe but also with Amy Bento and others. I went on the July RT and it was a wonderful experience. Thanks again for welcoming me!

Fig,....my DH used to be like that....wanting me to initiate more. Then sometime in his late 30s his libido started going down,....now in mid 40s it's almost non-existent,...which scares the *beep* out of me!!! He also used to get grumpy if he didn't get enough (now it's me). We used to joke and call it MSR (male sperm retention).

DH has had some "performance" problems since our m/c. I"m not sure if he's worried about something happening again? We've tried a couple doses of Viagra & it didin't seem to make a difference, so I think it's psychological rather than physiological,...either way it's frustrating on the TTC scene.

Fig & Bethany, what do you do for a living? Fig, Amy Bento is my favorite right now. Jen & I share a passion of Coach Sean. :p:p:eek:

Kids are napping, I"m off to do the step portion of Cathe's 4 day split premix thing. Forget what it's called....I can't seem to get the choreography on the last part of the high intensity step routine...maybe today.

Oh, and I"m going to try my darnest to limit my exercise video purchasing to *TEN* this year. That's my New Year's resolution!!!

Anyone here on facebook?

Melanie, I'm a stay-at-home mom. I spend a lot of time blogging, but don't make a profit from it (yet--hey, ya never know!) I have an English degree and had a variety of jobs before having kids--the last one was word processor/proofreader at an accounting firm.

I love the 4DS step workouts! If you like Coach Sean, check out my Fitness Fig blog on Sunday night or Monday morning--I'll be doing a CC giveaway! ;)

ETA: I'm on Facebook--click here--I think it will work.

Thanks ladies for all of the praise about my job however I don't think anything of it. In my opinion, I shouldn't even have to be doing what I am doing if it wasn't for the abusers. I wish I could protect all of the children. It can be hard some days but most of the time it is super rewarding!

ITA about DH and the libido thing. Mine is 36 and it has declined in the 7 years we have been together. The first month of TTC brought alot of tears and me saying "I'm never gonna get pregnant!" because he wasn't interested. Mine also likes me to intiate it more so I have tried doing that to help out. I agree also Bethany that it does make you feel unattractive but neither Melanie nor you have to worry about that!

Cramping and bleeding are gone (knock on wood) so I will continue to temp and hope I O this month! I have a feeling everything has gone back to normal pretty quickly but I will probably just have a long cycle this month. I'm fine with that as long as we can really TTC during the second one!

Jen

Bethany, are you on facebook? I think I added Jen & Fig. :) Fig you are pretty talented on the blog and website thing. I remember looking at that webpage at some point...probably saw it on another Cathe post. ;)

Yep, I'm on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1252816721&ref=name hopefully the link works!

I"m going to tentatively say that I MAY have ovulated yesterday! I wasn't charting temps bc it's been so long since my last cycle, but going by CF and cervical position...we'll see! No sex yesterday but we did a couple of days ago so hopefully it was close enough!

Melanie, I agree those test strips can be hard to read. I had to identical lines for like a week straight, which couldn't have been right. Retrospectively it could have been bc I DIDN'T ovulate at all that cycle, but it was frustrating anyway.

I'm a physical therapist. Melanie, I seem to remember you're a pharmacist - is that correct?

I guess my resolution or goal would be to clean up my eating. It isn't horrible but I have something sweet at least once/day. Some of the book recommendations on the forums like BFFM and Clean Eating have looked tempting...though I'm also planning on researching more about what I should be eating for my hypoglycemic tendencies.

Lainie, I'm so jealous you were able to go to the RT!;) It's like a DREAM of mine!! Cathe seems just as sweet in person (from the clips) as she does in the forums. I'm really going to try to go to the next one.

Melanie, thanks for the compliment. I love blogging—the designing as well as the writing (though I’m a real amateur at both).

Jen, you can find me on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=758135361&ref=profile
Hope that works.

Bethany, this cycle I used digital ovulation tests and it shows a happy face if you’re ovulating. It costs more but it was much easier to read than those double lines. I probably never would have made it to the RT if I didn’t live just 2 ½ hours away. It really helped that I could drive there and not spend too long away from the fam. I don’t know yet if I’ll make it to another but I’ll try. Cathe really was very sweet, as were her cast. Brenda told me I had pretty eyes and made me a fan for life. :p

I'm very slow-moving today. I haven't had breakfast yet (or even coffee!) and it's 9 am here. I need to get out of the habit of staying up so late. I'm looking at my puppy snoozing away and envying him.

Ok I added both Bethany and Lainie to FB! I hope it worked!

Woo hoo Bethany for possible ovulating! I hope you were able to catch that little eggie!

Jen

Update on me

Guess what!? I called my dr's and got the latest blood results and my HCG is down to 37! I may not even have to get another draw but if I do it should be down to 0! Woo hoo! I'm so freakin excited! I was worried that I might need another shot of Methotrexate or a D and C if that didn't work. But everything is progressing wonderfully!

Jen, that's great that things are returning to normal!!!:D Are you going back in to get more blood work taken soon to see where things stand?

Thanks everyone for adding me on FB! It's neat to "see" you all.:)

Lainie, so are you planning to test early or wait until the 1st day of your missed period? The wait would drive me nuts...though now I really dread taking preg. tests bc I've never had a positive one...even when I was preg. with Taylor I took a test and it was negative..I found out I was pregnant from a blood test when I went in to the ER (long story;)).

Today was CC #5. I bought 5-8 today when I found out there was a sale bc I've been loving 1-4 so much. My elbow is STILL not healed so I'll do cardio for awhile - ick ick ick. :p

Bethany- Yes, the nurse thinks the dr will want me to repeat it next week just to make sure that they are down to 0 but even she was impressed that they were down that far. He wasn't in the office yesterday so she said they will call me Monday. The weird thing is after all of this is that I feel like I know my body SOO much more now and I knew that everything was going good. Plus, I think the temping and charting helped me figure everything out. My temps have stayed in their normal range so now I just wait to see if and when I O.

Yeah for CC! I love it! I only have 1 and 2 right now but I love them! I did KPC last night and man did it kick my bootie! It's been a couple months since I did that one and I loved it! It's always been one of my favorites because of the premixes also with LG. I can get a short cardio and a leg workout in one. I'm not sure what I am going to do today yet. I still need to do weight with my legs so I think I will try to squeeze that in. Maybe L&G or B&G????

No real plans today....which I love. I woke up later than normal which was nice and all I plan to do is workout and look for some clean recipes for dinner this week and maybe make it to the grocery store. And then of course, laundry in between. :)

Jen

I guess everyone is real busy today! Wow- no posts here!

Well, I did Chest and Triceps today and then abs from MM. I am getting quite sore from it already. And I have DOMS from KPC yesterday.

Melanie- Have you done Amy Bento's kickbox workouts? I think you have posted before about her??? I rented two of hers to try to see if I like them. I should get them in a week or so.

I did exactly what I said I was going to do and relaxed. I went grocery shopping and got some really good deals on veggies today. We had tacos tonight for dinner (WW tortilla of course) and then I made this Italian Sausage Soup (turkey sausage) for tomorrow night's dinner with zucchini, carrots, northern beans, spinach, and tomatoes. I tasted it and boy is it yummy! Well I hope everyone had a wonderful day and I will check back tomorrow!

Jen

OK, would you believe I’ve started yet another website? It’s at http://www.befitathome.com Check it out and let me know what you think. I’m trying to go a non-Fig route so it’s not al me-me-me centered. ;)

Jen, hooray for good blood test results! Oh, and I’ll be giving away a CC workout on my blog—will list it tomorrow. All you have to do to be in the running to win is come post a comment on that blog entry.

Bethany, I probably won’t test early. If I test early then I test 3 or 4 times! I try to wait until at least the day my period is due. That being said, I already have 3 boxes of pregnancy tests in my closet.

I’m thinking about trying Body for Life again. I tried it once before but only for a few weeks. Maybe it’s time to try again. We’ll see.

I can’t wait for the boys to go back to school and the hubby back to work on Monday (though my youngest only goes 3 short mornings a week). I need some ALONE TIME.

Jen, I have Amy's Kickbox Extreme but I've only done it about 2 times. I haven't been able to get into it. There wasn't much breakdown as she instructs as she goes...which would be great if I were used to her style and moves...but frustrating for me just starting out with her. I'm sure Melanie can give you a much better idea about her workouts than I can.:p Did you see the sale on CC.com right now? 50% off if you get 4 or more DVDs.

I did LIC cardio timesaver premix plus abs yesterday. The music is so fun in that one! Today I'm planning on a KPC/L&G premix. Then I'll start Cathe's Jan rotation on Monday as long as my elbow behaves! Are you ladies following a rotation right now?

Lainie, I got the Body for Life book from the library awhile back but never actually practiced it. What did you think of it for those 3 weeks you did it?

Mmm, that Italian sausage soup sounds yummy! I wish I had the drive to cook more! I use to Forman grill a lot for chicken and fish and that's about the extent of my cooking skills.

Ok, so I've decided to call the OB again this week. It's been over a month since I've called and the nurse said that it takes a few months for the endometrium to build back up again after nursing. Well I stopped in September and I would love to have a check-up to make sure things are normal. Is it out of line for me to ask for an appointment? I haven't seen them since my 6 week PP check...but they don't want to see me until a year from my last checkup...and I feel like a needy patient if I try to go in at times like this. Or I could wait another month to see if I have a period. My biggest fear is that a year will go by with no period and then finally they'll want to see me and it turns out that it could have been fixed earlier if I came in to see them. What do you think?
